  • hi, there, frouf. curtis just got up and we had lunch. not a very "easter lunch." i had core chili with crax and he had regular chili and crax. but it's snowing!! it's all around us now but not sticking in our neighborhood even though it is a little higher up.

do you have a meeting you could attend? that's one of the most powerful aids i'm having right now. i am still going op full force. this is the "turning" week. we'll see if i can keep the trend going down. i'm sooooo tired of yo-yoing.

we stayed up watching "the magnificent seven" last night. got sleepy and went to bed. i taped the rest and w'll go chill out with it in a few minutes. not much else going on here.
  • Hi girls, how are you all doing? It has been very busy around here.

Vickie, I just love your entertainment unit. I hope the door situation gets solved. It looks so good and it must be so fun to watch the TV which is also gorgeous. My vot is to go for the discount. Just think what you could spend the money on.

Sandra, you've conquered your first turkey. I made one years ago, and haven't tried since. Chicken is enough for us. Sounds like you've got some good plans. I hope Curtis feels better.

Frouf, I'm too cold. I like a lot warmer to get me out and motivated. We rented Prime and Derailed. They're both worth watching. Meryl Streep does a good neurotic Jewish mother. We went to Zola's with everyone last night (not Passover friendly).

Melissa, hope you are having a fun Easter. It's busy visiting two families in one day. Have fun.

Kathy, I missed all your moving excitement yesterday. It's hard letting go of our kids, but I feel that I've done a good job if they can go out on their own. You appreciate them a lot more after they leave. Are you doing a special dinner tonight?

Okay, they looked at about fourteen houses yesterday, and are out again now. It makes one dizzy. They seem to be favouring Havenlea, which is a subdivision about five minutes from here. They found a model they like and are seeing some re-sales now. It will take some time, but things are looking good. I'll have everyone pretty close to us, which is a good thing.

Bernie is out jogging, so this is my first time home alone. I do miss my quiet time, but it's wonderful having the kids here.

Okay, I better eat somesthing. Have a great Easter....
  • saundra, i envy you having your family nearby. what a blessing for you! i can't remember how many grands you have. will they all be within easy spoiling distance? we only have 2 close to us and they're 45 minutes away. we may spend a lot of next winter close to 2 others. i'm looking forward to that.
  • Hey, Sandra, we don't have any "real" holiday plans today. We were supposed to go to my Sister's but backed out when Jim was scheduled for his shoulder surgery. That was supposed to happen last Thursday. She told us to come anyway but Jim wants to just relax today. We've had alot of stress and running around since the beginning of April. We are all caught up on our TV taping and Jim is watching the Sox game. I'm going to start the turkey around 2:30. I sure hope it's defrosted all the way through. I use those oven bags and it says it'll cook in 3 hours. Is Curtis feeling better?

Saundra, it's so excited that your DS and grandkids may be as close as 5 minutes away. We looked at 30 house before we found this one. But, the moment we walked in.....we knew this was the right one! They, too, will know it when they see it.

Frouf, it's hard not to come up with excuses for not staying on program. I keep trying not to use Jim's situation as one. I'm eating primarily Core food but I know I haven't been stopping at satisfied which is a big problem. Sometimes I think I'm tired because I'm not getting enough exercise. It's a viscious circle. I was going to ask if you made your soup. I'm glad you did so you'll have it. We haven't seen any good movies in a while. It's just not something we do. I only watched about 10 minutes of Deliverance once a long time ago. I think it creeped me out and I turned it off.

I need to find Jim some pasta dishes to have on hand. Are any of those pasta bowl concoctions any good? I know they aren't low calorie/fat but he has to eat something. He doesn't really like macaroni and cheese but says he'll eat it. He knows he'll be desperate.

Well, I'm going to go play cards for a little while. Once I get the turkey in the oven, I'll go upstairs and shower. The sides won't take long to prepare.

I hope you are all having fun. I'm actually kind of bored. I need to start cleaning before my Sister and BIL come tomorrow.
  • Well, my turkey is frozen pretty solid in the middle. I have it soaking in cold water. I guess we'll eat around 10:00 tonight.
  • vickie, curtis is feeling better. i guess sleeping till almost noon helped him mend. i keep pot pies on hand for curtis. have you considered them?

i'm a little bored, too, but so far i'm not minding. it's stopped snowing here but is still coming down up in the hills all around. very peaceful.
  • just wondering. are we to start our new daily thread tomorrow?
  • Hi there everyone! I hope that you're all having good days. Sounds like lots of resting going on, which is great. We've been very busy today visiting with all the family. My eating was not great today, but it could have been worse.
I'm really tired and have a headache now, so I'm not going to stay. I also want to get some packing done tonight, as well as studying for class.
    I'll probably be back later!
  • Oh and by the way I can't believe it's snowing at Sandra's house!! It's so warm here, we have the AC on.
  • Speaking of warm, I just checked and it's 96 here. I knew I was really hot but didn't realize just how hot it was!

We're back from Judd's parents' and had a nice lunch. You would all love the way she cooks. We had grilled tuna steaks, steamed asparagus, baked sweet potatoes rounds, corn on the cob, rolls and a salad with spring mix, sliced italian tomatoes, sliced avocado and cucumber chunks. We had poached pears for dessert and they were good. Of course, I ate about two bites of everything and got full -- my stomach must be withering away. Still, it was a whole lot of food so I'm sure I got plenty. She sent Ghirardelli chocolates, blackberries, tomatoes and some rolls home with us.

I got worn out so am thankfully back in bed now where I'll stay for a few days to rest up. I have papers to fax to the doctor tomorrow to continue the disability and at this point, I'm in no hurry to rush back to work. I'l just stay as long as the doctor will approve for me to be out. I must, though, figure out a way to start getting some strength back.

    I hope everybody's having a restful day.
  • Shoot. MIL just called to say that I forgot the orchid she had bought me. It is huge and a pretty pink -- and we ran right off and left it. That makes me sick!
  • we just finished dinner. curtis is eating pb and crax now. (right after dinner) have you ever noticed how some days you seem to fill up easier? i guess that's what ive been doing lately because of lack of exercise. my old bod prob really is telling me it doesn't need so much. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe i need to start paying better attention.

melissa, it has been a relaxing day. i got a little bit of cabin fever and walked around the yard a little. our temp is supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. if i'm still feeling good and if it's not snowing/raining, i am going to prune a few rosebushes. i have 9 beds. i'm thinking of aiming at doing 1 bed per day. that's the plan anyway.

kathy, we just saw on the weather channel where san antonio is to get over 100* tomorrow. ya'll may be in for a scorcher this year. that worries me as dry as it is down there. i hope i'm wrong and you have a mild summer.

sounds like good days being had. kathy, you're right. that's quite a meal. you're lucky she prepares healthy choices.
  • do you live close enough to mil for judd to run over and get it? i hope so.
  • They're about 30 minutes away -- at Ridglea Country Club past Bryant Irvin, almost to the Weatherford traffic circle. I'm sure you know pretty much where it is. I don't know if he would go get it but maybe she can keep it alive and I'll get it sometime. Hers from last year has bloomed again but mine didn't. I have one from last year and also the year before, and keep waiting and waiting but no go. She said she puts 1/2 cup of water per week in hers. A friend told her 3 icecubes per week which is probably the same. I should start doing that and see if I can get them to bloom.

I think my body is starting to send messages too. It doesn't take much at all to fill me up. I was at 146.6 this morning; weighed just now when I was changing clothes and am at 146.4 even with the meal. I'm not hungry for dinner though so I might just drink some milk later on and maybe have some popcorn or crackers. Or ice cream if I can get someone to go get me some. Since I see so many TV commercials, I've been craving all sorts of weird stuff.
  • Kathy - talking about keeping your strength up - and mending your bones and muscles - I really think you should at least up the protein! While popcorn and crackers is a nice 'filler' how abou pb on the crackers or cheese? or cheese strings, hb eggs etc? If you can't eat too much at least make sure what you get is of 'high quality"! If all else fails maybe a protein shake now and then might help?

Glad you are taking it easy tho and I hope you get your lovely pink orchid back asap! Your MIL's dinner sounds scrumptious! Keep your AC on - sounds like you are getting some amazing hot weather.

Like Saundra says - it is still kind of cool here - no ac yet!

Vickie - I usually try and buy fresh turkeys for the very reason you described - it takes like a decade for those big babies to defrost! Hope you are able to eat at a decent hour? what sides are you making?

I'm sure there are lots of frozen pasta entrees - my kids prefer "pastaria' not sure if you have that brand in US? They make fettucine alfredo and spaghetti and some other varieties. Of course some of the Lean Cuisine varieties are probably lower in calories and fat.

Melissa - sounds like a busy exhausting day - sorry about the headache - hope you get some relief! (I could not pack or study if my head hurt).

Angela - how is Lorena doing? Have you had a real visit with her? what did she think of the house?

And lazy froufie did not do much of anything today (except eat and sleep!!). Instead of getting ready to go out (as previously mentioned around 2 pm) - I was so tired. dh showered and went out to do some yard work and take measurements for the top soil - and little ds was out biking. I decided to lie down for a bit - yes 2 hours later I am up - so it's like 6 pm and I'm still in my jammies - never showered or dressed!

Had LO roast beef w/some brocolli and sweet potatoes for dinner and pondering if dh and I should go out tonight (big ds needs a ride to a meeting so we might drop him off and keep going!). DD came home from her dad's coughing and sneezing (and even little ds sounds congested). This is NOT GOOD given we are leaving friday for dance competition (need to start packing tomorrow so we don't forget ANYTHING IMPORTANT!). I am already getting super stressed about this dance thing - wish I was not such a detail oriented person and I could just relax and go with the flow - but of course I need to make sure everything is perfectly organized and efficient too! (thinking of packing small cooler w/diet soft drinks, baby carrots, maybe some cheese strings and granola bars for hotel room).

    Later,
    Frouf
