  • i just went to the jello and the cool whip websites and got some recipes. i have black cherry jello/cherries/cool whip in the fridge. should be ready soon

i thought curtis was gone while ago, but he came in and asked me to ride over with him. we just got home. it's a gorgeous day out. i just sat in the car and chatted via cell phone with some gf's.
  • Just got back from one of favourite restaurants. Had my whole wheat pasta prima vera with grilled chicken. Got the leftovers in the fridge. Then stopped at DQ. I had a 45 cal fudge bar.

Kathy, good luck tomorrow. Don't overdo, please.

Sandra, it was a nice day here too. Life is good!

Okay, off to the big confy couch,
  • saundra, your outing sounds good. we had a bowl of cajun beans for dinner. i'm hanging in there and doing great opwise. yes, life is good, isn't it?
  • Hey everybody. I'm still feeling cruddy. I was feeling better this morning then had some other stomach issues. I haven't eaten much today but am hungry, sort of. I went ahead and called in for tomorrow. My boss said she has also had stomach problems this weekend. We must have gotten it from someone at the office.

Sandra, your jello sounds good. I didn't know they made sf cool whip, I'll have to look for it. Is that what you had? Was it good? Yes there are a lot of sick people where I work. Substance abusers have very low immune systems so get sick a lot. Many of them also don't have good hygeine, etc so don't wash their hands like they should. TMI, huh? Congrats on being op. You really do seem determined, and I'm proud of you. I hope that you can drag me along. Glad you got out and about today.

Kathy, I too am worried about you going back to work. Look at me, just the stomach flu and I'm staying home. I'm a wimp. I hope that you do okay and rest well tonight. I hope that by now Judd has fed you a delicious supper.
  • Vickie, I hope that everything is well with you all today. Since you haven't visited since this morning you are either resting well or something is up! I hope it is that you are both resting well.
  • Good evening, all!

Melissa, I'm sorry you don't feel well ... maybe one more day of rest will help your tummy get better. Do you think part of it could be nerves too?

Saundra and Sandra, your dinners sounded good. I'm glad you're both having a nice day.

I have decided that I hurt whether at home or at work, in bed, in the wheelchair, both with and without pain pills, so I might as well suck it up and go on in. I'm not looking forward to it.

I did just get in the chair and roll around the kitchen (managing to bump into everything in sight -- I will be painting when this is all over) and I made my tuna salad for lunch tomorrow. I assembled a few things and collected them in the bottom drawer of the fridge to get ready for the morning. I told Judd we needed to be there by 8:00. If I leave it up to him, we won't get there until noon.

I'm surprised at the level of pain I'm still having; I'd say it's about an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. It's there constantly and nothing helps, including propping. I am hoping the screw hasn't developed an infection but I don't know what to watch for.

Time for Gray's Anatomy. Too bad it's a rerun.
  • Oh and as for supper, nope. He's been sitting in the chair ever since he got home. I folded and put away some clothes (it was quite a sight), made the tuna, have pottied the dogs, and the only thing I've gotten from him is a water refill. He acted a little put-out to bring it, so I decided not to ask for anything else.

Oh well. What's new, huh? I'm certainly not special around here, that's for sure.
  • Kathy, it makes me so mad the way you take such great care of everyone else and you can't even get any stinking dinner. How frustrating. Maybe you should order take-out, have it delivered, and let him pay for it when the doorbell rings.
I understand your reasoning about going to work, but I'm sure it won't be fun. Maybe everyone will feel sorry for you and lay off.
  • LOL! I guess he's tired from his long ride home. All the way from Arkansas on a motorcycle can't be fun. He must have left early this morning because he got home around 3:30 or so.

I'll just eat in the morning. I should be okay for nowbecause I have my big bottle of water here. He did stop by a minute ago and ask if I needed anything but I don't think that included fixing dinner.

I wonder where Froufy is today?
  • Well, as our friend Vickie would say, Harumpf!! OK, I'll stop being mad about it now. I still think you deserve better treatment though.

I see that you put a link to your FitDay. I tried to start one of those myself, got frustrated and quit. It is quite labor intensive!
  • You don't have to ! It doesn't bother me ... I'm used to this. Maybe I'm just a complainer, although I know if it were him in this predicament, I'd be doing all my chores plus his too. As it is, mine aren't getting done. Things like cooking, cleaning, laundry -- you know, all the fun stuff.

FitDay keeps me on track when I need it. I don't think I'll write in my little journal this month, just keep it on FitDay. I have to figure out a way to add some calories though.
  • You are definitely not a complainer. I would be so mad I wouldn't be able to see straight.

I see that they have redone fit day's website and it is much more user-friendly now it seems. Maybe I'll try again.
You do need more calories. With as little as I have eaten today I still had more calories than you, and I'm sure you didn't even actually eat what you had posted.
  • For goodness sake Kathy - I would start hollering real loud if I were you! How about a few choruses of "food glorious food" belted out at top volume? Honestly why is he not asking or even just bringing you some dinner? I'm sure he must be tired - but still? I am also afraid of how you will manage tomorrow!

Vickie - hope Jim is doing better and can manage the ct scan tomorrow. Keep us posted!

Melissa - poor you - sounds like not a very fun weekend - hope your tummy is on the mend.

Sandra - love the pic - you look so sweet and adorable! ...and that cherry jello thing sounds divine.

Saundra - good luck with the seder prep!

To add to Saundra's info - Passover is an 8 day holiday (starting wed evening) with the 2 seder dinners. Certain foods are forbidden during passover (anything w/leavened flour and certain grains/legumes) hence the eating of matzo - this symbolizes the jews exodus from egypt. The seder meal itself is quite lengthy as it retells the story of the exodus with lots of symbolic foods and of course wine! (more info here if interested: http://www.jewfaq.org/holidaya.htm)

This year we are going to friend's place (my gf in Toronto whose sister now lives here). I had invited her over figuring she had no plans - turns out she has her in-laws coming in from Montreal as well as another local couple so asked us to come to her place (like all 5 of us!). I am trying to get her to tell me what to bring (besides my 2 bottles of passover wine) - but she is noncommital and I feel bad as she is doing all the prep.

And get this - my kids don't want to go (altho i am forcing them to). - Why can't we just stay home and have our own seder? Are you kidding? We do generally have someone over - which is nice - but frankly I am thrilled not to have to do all the preparations and cooking and shopping - it is a lot of work - and hey maybe once in every 10 years or so it is nice to be INVITED out and not have to fuss so much?

As for my birthday weekend - it was great!

Kathy - I loved the idea of the horse and riding lessons! very cute!

As you may already know dh went to a lot of trouble going to all the local art stores to get me my gift which is quite nostalgic for me. Got a big speech before he gave it to me enforcing the fact it was for ME and not for the kids and I did not have to share or give it to them? (He knows I would give it away to them if they asked or let them use it!).

Got a huge big black zip up art carrying case with tons of pockets and sleeves. Two art pads (one for pastels and one w/regular paper - also has stencils in it)., a gorgeous big box of oil pastels, another big box (48) of very expensive colored pencils - a book on drawing, and then my favorites: the bunny stickers, hot pink stamp pad and the 2 bunny rubber stamps. Already tried them out (made a thank you card for dd for the presents). Very fun

Also got a gorgeous Fossil watch - big round silver links, round pale pink face and all along the inside are little crystals and the 4 main numbers are also crystals - very pretty in the light and I have been wearing it all weekend.

Had a nice surprise at dinner out friday night (tuscan grill) as my best gf and her husband joined us and we polished off 2 bottles of wine and lots of good food.

Saturday I was supposed to go shopping w/dd but as she would not dress according to my wishes it was cancelled. She did finally put on some jeans and looked more 'normal' for our hair appt at 2 pm (guess she was worried she would miss that too?). My hair looks stupendous - gorgeous golden highlights and no more gray! Of course it won't look this good when I do it myself!

Dh and I went out to a movie sat night and went too bed way too late (as I was reading a good Harlen Coban thriller which I could not put down). This morning had breakfast with same best gf so we could have a great *****ing session - and she gave me a gift certificate to this bead place where I can make or purchase necklaces or earrings or pins - I am really looking forward to this!

I did finally take dd shoe shopping today - alas they did not have her size - but some internet research found us the same shoes (in the US) for lower prices (altho we will still need to pay taxes and shipping). She is quite excited now and awaits her 2 new pairs of shoes!

...and as if I had not stuffed my face enuf - tonight was our family birthday dinner night out (red lobster). Service was pretty slow and I was not impressed that they had crossed off our name (as seated) on the waiting list - I'm glad I checked as it seemed longer than normal. Otherwise it was nice to get out with all of the kids!

I am now 'digesting" before going to bed but am very very tired. Need to catch up on my sleep!

DD gets her dinosaur retainer tomorrow and I get my nails done! YIPPEE.

    Frouf
  • Frouf, what a great birthday weekend! And that watch is very stunning. I have a fossil watch too and like it a lot. Of course the pink is perfect for you!
I think what DH did was quite romantic and very nice. And it sounds like you have had some serious birthday feasts!! I'm so glad that you had a good time celebrating your birthday.
  • GREAT birthday report, Frouf! I'm so glad you had a great weekend -- now the real challenge between that and the upcoming holiday period is to maintain your weight! Actually, we're all in the same challenge boat, I guess.

I haven't heard yet what's happening next weekend but if we do anything at all, we'll go to Judd's parents' for Easter lunch. I'm leaning toward not going but we'll have to see how persistent they are. Other than that, I'm sure I'll be needing a few days of rest by then.

While making my lunch I was disappointed that there were no carrots; then just now I remembered a big ol' vegetable tray that MIL had brought over with all those groceries. There is ranch and dilly dip in there, plus broccoli, carrots, celery, peapods, and tomatoes. I might take it to work tomorrow so it doesn't go to waste but I think I'll remove whatever vegetables I want first. Either that or will keep it and steam the veggies tomorrow night. We'll see.

Okay, I guess I'm gone. I have to sleep tonight -- no more laying awake flipping channels looking for something to watch. Oh speaking of that, have you all seen the Magic Bullet? Holy cow, that's some gadget!!
