Well I discovered going thru some favourite recipes that some of them are Core. Rouladen is one of them. Its really simple to make. Take a sirloin steak and cut it into 2-3 pieces. Pound them out (I use a rolling pin) till about 1/4 inch. Then take some diced carrots, onion, celery and a little garlic and *pan fry* them till al dente. I cook them in a little water. When they are a little soft, take a sirloin piece and place a scoop of the veggies in the middle of the steak. Roll it up, and secure with a toothpick. When all the steak is rolled, briefly brown the steaks in a non-stick fry pan. I dont use oil for this. When all sides are brown add some beef boullion/stock to the pan, put a lid on it (very important step or it will dry out) and cook for a hour to hour and half. When they are done, I take my roll out and for the rest of the family I add a gravy thickener and make a gravy for theirs.
