Vickie, I hope you're on the treadmill right now because I'd hate to get tough with you! :rollpin:
I have a list of things ... cleaning out the fridge, doing some laundry, cleaning the carpet upstairs where Zuki ran and bled, cleaning one of the FR chairs where somebody leaned their head and made a mark ??? how freaky! Then I have to plant those flowers in the front flowerbed. And I should go to the grocery store too. Judd will be home from work around 5:00 so I'd like to have the majority of these things done by then. I can't take the pressure!!! :yikes: |
Oh, I meant perked up as in "suddenly very wide awake."
|
Well, I'm done. Did my 33 minutes and saw the end of season 3 of Gilmore Girls. Rory graduated from Chilton and I cried through her Valedictorian speech like she was my kid. Is my TOM around the corner, or what?
It's 3:30. Time to go shower. Thanks for the bonk on the head! |
terry, 6 miles is recovery? i am duly impressed. they don't have a stationery bike at curves, but they do have other machines i could use. i don't know why i'm not wanting to go there. i just want to exercise at home. we have stairs. i've been up and down them more than normal today. maybe that will help with the exercise. i still haven't treadmilled. i'll prob just do it 15 minutes today. tomorrow and sunday we'll be doing some hiking. i'm anxious to see how my feet hold up for that. i wore my orthotics about 3 hours today. i should be healed, right?
kathy, sounds like you're planning to do a lot before dh gets home. wish i had your energy. cher, blue elvis, eh? that's something else. vickie, wish we could tread together. that would be fun. enjoy your night out. |
I don't know about the rest of you -- but my body gets worn out after 6 miles sitting in the car, or on a bike. Running 6 miles???? Um, no!!
Dang DH came home early and caught me eating a hot dog from 7-11. Uh-oh! I went ahead and started talking anniversary plans to him in case he had some people he wanted to include. He knows about the cake, and the champagne, and who I've called. He suggested a few others, so we'll work on it during the week. We're still looking for a downtown Fort Worth hotel. I've emailed our travel agent to see if she can pull some strings. Hubba hubba!! Sounds like a whopping good time to me!! |
Sandra, I hope that you aren't too worried about that pound. I think that we are at a disadvantage w/i at home b/c we don't know the ounces, etc. I probably didn't really lose 2# this week, but like 1.5 or something. You know what I mean? And you may not have really gained an entire pound. Anyway, I'm rambling but I hope that you won't be too worried about it. You will probably walk it and a few more off this weekend.
Kathy, hope that you got all of your chores done! Cher, sounds like your kids are going to have a heck of a summer! And our fingers will be crossed that Elvis thrives in his new habitat. :crossed: NH Linda, your lunch sounds good. I will have to make some potato chips when I have the time. Yum! :T Vickie, glad that you got yourself onto the treadmill. Terry, hope that you have a good time doing your remodeling this weekend. Do you run all of your miles or do you run/walk? I am just so impressed by what you do. Thanks for the little celebration too. :D Well thanks everyone for the congrats. I have been so happy about it all day. So happy in fact that I have been eating m&ms. Oh well. I think I am going to have some :m: and popcorn--the sweet and salty combo is so delicious...so at least half of the snack will be core! Also got a diet coke with splenda. :T I like that stuff a lot. I'm not sure what's up with me today, I am absolutely exhausted. I fell asleep after eating supper for a little while. DH stayed home from work and now we are watching "The Aviator" which I have no intention of staying awake through. ;) I hope that my tiredness is not a sign that I'm getting sick. Well I know I missed some people here, I'm sorry! ;) and :grouphug: for you all! :D |
melissa, you're so sweet. thank you for your words of encouragement. i'm betting you lost at least 2 lbs and i lost a lot less than 1 lb. how does that sound to you?

Hey Girls! Just back from dinner and thought I'd pop in to say hi. Jim is watching the Sox game but I promised him my attention tonight so I can't stay long. I had a great dinner (garden salad, sirloin steak, mashed potatos, grilled zucchini/squash/red onion). They were great to me at this restaurant. Answered all my questions and were careful not to put any oil or butter on my stuff. They even tried to estimate for me how much butter would be in a serving of potatos. We had alot of fun with our friends. It was a sports bar and so we got to watch the first hour and a half of the Sox game. That's how we all met when we all had season tickets. It was fun. We're going to our first game this year next Wednesday. We are all looking forward to it.
Well, hope you're all having a great start to your weekend. I've got lots of errands to do tomorrow. I'm babysitting for the Niece while her DH is at work so she can go get her hair done, plus my other errands. Talk with you all tomorrow. |
Vickie, your dinner sounds really great! :T You have such great discipline when you go out to eat. I'm bad about just "assuming" and hoping for the best. :o I hope that you have fun babysitting tomorrow! Have a good night with your sweetie!
|
Thanks, Melissa. My what a nice fluffy chick you have there!
|
Why thank you! I intend on giving my chick much more fluff!
Just a side note: I have drank over 100 ounces of water today. I really don't pay attention to how much I drink, I am just always thirsty!! I wonder if I could up it to 200 ounces and lose more weight! Just kidding. |
I just realized that I drank alot today too! I normally shoot for 80 ounces. Today I had 100! I'm trying to wash the pizza and the mashed potatoes out!
|
Good evening everyone! We went out tonight and saw Batman Begins. It was surprisingly good - I went in there a bit unwilling, because I didn't like the other Batman movies, but this one was OK. I ate a half a bag of popcorn, and now my stomach hurts. I think it's too much fat, because I also had some bacon with dinner. Blah. A nice juicy watermelon sounds really good right now.
I'm going to bed right now. I'm exhausted today - getting up early to work in the garden and fighting a cold is taking its toll. Nighty night! Angela |
Sandra, just looking at the recipes you posted recently. I was looking at the biscuit recipe and wondered if you thought there was something I could use other than oat bran? I have all of the other ingredients but honestly don't even know what oat bran is. Just wondering what your opinion is about that.
|
Angela, I hope you feel better! We went to a BBQ place tonight and although I didn't overdo it, something didn't agree and I rolled home very miserable. Judd was laughing at me because I was walking around moaning. Apparently, it was quite unattractive according to him.
Have a good night! |
melissa, i don't really know what could be subbed for oat bran. (it's in the hot cereals in the store. i think?) i haven't made those biscuits either. i don't have any oat bran but i do have oat bran mix from south haven farms. i may try making them with that. let me know if you make them and if you like them.
angela, your evening sounds like fun. it's odd how we tend to lean toward healthier choices now, isn't it? (i hope it lasts.) kathy, i'm sorry you got sick eating bbq. that's a bummer. vickie, you did great. i am proud of you. well, i'm off here for the evening. i'll be back tomorrow afternoon. till then--keep on keepin' on. |
back from weigh in. I lost 4.2# which is only 0.2 lb away from where I was before we went on vacation. Stuck to Core this week, even though we went out a couple of times, got in a lot of water. I do have a problem with fluid retention, and have stopped eating Cottage Cheese, because one cup has almost 1000 mg of sodium. Hope everyone is well, doing my day off cooking.

This Isn't Working for me!
Mornin' all.....went to the early Saturday meeting 7:30 today.....weigh in was not good but I knew that....up again....no surprise there. Had a talk with my leader (who has become a friend) and together we decided I am just not a core candidate.
I will be doing points (and counting them Wendies Way) each day a different points value..... starting today and moving forward. I find it easier and less work. But that's just me. I have given Core the better part of 9 months (like giving birth) and I have not been successful with it. We are both to blame. I did points (Wendies Way) starting a year ago to the day today and was very, very successful, and felt great and lost every week. Started Core in Oct, and for some reason I went downhill from there. (my fault) The Core Plan is not to blame, it is me, and I have failed at all my attempts to stick with Core, and I can no longer have this failure plague my WW success of 55 lbs lost. I want them to stay lost  I admire all those here who are so successful with their day in and day out struggle. I commend you all :bravo: For me I 'can' live with being a points person. I have proven that. I find it easier and more in control and structured...AND I need structure and control. Guess you can say I am all about measuring and weighing. This "am I full am I satisfied- eat when you're hungry thing" has thrown me into a tizzy, and I am not a happy camper. My 8's went to 10s and NOW the 10's have gone to 12's....I don't think so!!!!! I can only speak for MYself, you all are doing wonderfully, that is why WW is a wonderful program....one size doesn't have to fit all. It is not like me to fail like this, week in and week out. I have begun my WW (Wendie Plan) today....AND I will keep on keeping on..... :moped: and feel successful already :D Kind of like a new out look...... Frank's new pet name for me......Princess of Points :queen: .....He makes me laugh  He is so supportive, it's amazing!! I guess I will mosey over to a Points Support Board too and see what is happening there, or go over to Wendies Board too. I will of course read here too, I feel part of the group even though I CAN NEVER get here as much as you all :D Doesn't matter what program we are doing, we are all working to reach our own goals, be it personal, or Weight Watcher. We all want to feel good about ourselves. Well that's the latest from here in S.Florida.....hope ALL the Saturday weighers are successful :D and everyone has great weekend...........Lj |
Hi Ladies - I hope you won't mind me just popping in from time to time to post - I am here regularly reading all the posts and info, but by the time I am done with that - well whew! - you all move so fast!!!!!
I am supposed to start going to meetings next week with my friend who has been going since January - she goes on Thursdays, but I am thinking of heading in on Monday to get a jump on the week....then go again with her on Thursday. I have been *pretty much* following Core, but want all the specific details, which I am sure I don't have.....you all have been a great source of info tho. Last night wasn't a good night - well it was, but not eating wise......we went to a new sushi restaurant.....well actually, when you think about it.....that really isn't bad......the sushi was wonderful and I really could count the minute amount of rice with points.....I had 1 - 1/2 beers :o and could count that as well, but it was after.......we went to Coldstone Creamery and I had never been there. Needless to say, it was awesome and I could not eat my whole little bowl........today is a grad party....it's always something, isn't it??? I do have a question - what do you all eat as snacks on CORE??? That is the only area I am having trouble with..... Thanks ladies for all the info I get from you and WTG on all your wonderful losses and accomplishments this week! |
WOW-Vivian - way to go on that fabulous loss - you did great! :bravo: :cp: :cb: :bravo: :cp: You should feel very proud of yourself!
Kathy- I agree w/you - I think sometimes dh realized how cranky I am and tries to save his a$$ so to speak. We had a good session w/the therapist who did agree that w/dh being home there is no reason he should not devote 2 hrs per day to helping around the house. I am sick and tired of coming home from work to cook dinner every day and do the laundry on the weekends. I think men walk around sometimes w/blinders on and don't see what has to be done. You can bet if the tables were turned I would make sure things were taken care of and there was hot meal every night! We also spoke about our upcoming trip with I know will be stressful for all of us. Dh will have a hard time "living" w/everyone in a hotel room and trying to get along -I am already getting anxious but we do have some "strategies" that might help. Vickie- sounds like your dinner went well! And all this water drinking makes me feel very guilty! Angela- my older ds saw Batman and also loved it. I am not a huge batman fan but dh wants to go so if we have a "sitter" tonight we might go try and see it! LindaNH- thanks for trying the chips - sounds like they are a good fix when required. Good luck w/cleaning the house for the "royal visit". Sandra - hang in there and don't fret! Slow and steady wins the race...... (I hate that "slow" part tho!) Cher- good luck w/your new "visitor" I'm sure the kids will enjoy having the fish for the summer. Well ds's play was pretty cute - they even had the toddler and infant classes on stage (most were crying of course) and it was great fun. We did go out for dinner after w/dh, ds and MIL - to Red Lobster. Mini pig out included 2 of those cheddar biscuits, salad w/dressing on side, scallops/lobster tail combo w/baked potato. I was pretty full, and the scale is showing it right before WI but I am not too concerned cuz I know I consumed a lot of sodium yesterday and it should eventually disappear...right??? :?: Dh is out today and I am taking dd shopping -usually not a supremely fun experience as our "tastes" are very different. She needs shoes, strapless bra for her grad dress and a new bathing suit for Florida. Biggest problem is I think we have to take 6 yr old w/us and he is not the most patient shopper. There is a playcenter/daycare at one of the malls, so might go there if he is so inclined. Then we can have at least one hour to do our thing. May end up eating lunch out- but I think there is a subway or other places where I can get a salad or something not too bad. Time to get dressed and go to my meeting and yes my mantra right now is slow and steady wins the race.......I will try and keep this in mind. Thanks for all the blinks by the way! :D Frouf |
Hi Girls! I'll have to come back later to respond to posts. I slept through my wake up time 7:00 and didn't get up until 8:15. Jim is on the treadmill now. I just cannot go straight from the bed onto the treadmill. He's done in about 5 minutes then my turn. I stilll have to shower and eat breakfast after the treadmill to be ready to go by 10:45. I have errands to run after the babysitting so I can't even skimp on the getting ready part! The sleep felt great though!
I'll be back! |
Mornin' chicks! :sunny: Well, its not very early anymore, but I got to sleep in! Yeah!! I have lots that I want to get done today, so I will have to pry myself away from the computer. :) We are trying to do some rearranging in our townhouse. When we moved in I had this feeling that we wouldn't be here very long, and I never really decorated or anything. In fact there are several boxes (and most of our picture frames, etc.) that are still packed away! So I think we are going to move some rooms around, etc. DH has to work all afternoon, so I plan to get a lot done while he's gone. ;)
Sandra, thanks for answering my question. I don't know if I am brave enough to try those biscuits though! Vivian, :bravo: on your loss! Linda, I hate to hear the frustration that you are experiencing! But I am glad that you have "figured out" what kind of "person" you are. We are all wired differently and that's why I am glad that we have healthy options. Good luck to you in whatever you do. And still come visit us!! :^: Frouf, sounds like you have an eventful day ahead...maybe too eventful? Your red lobster dinner sounds soooo yummy. ;) for w/i this morning! You sound very positive and resolved though...that's great! Vickie, hope that you enjoy yourself today!! |
Morning everyone! I got up at 6 today, and spent 2 hours in the garden. It's starting to look pretty nice, I've got to say. It's a little frustrating, because it's a very large garden, and I'm only one person, but I think I've whipped it into shape for today at least. Darn weeds!
Anyway, hope you're feeling better today Kathy. Froufie, enjoy shopping today (or try to). I'm glad my girls aren't picky about clothes yet. As long as it's got sparkles on it, they're good. :D Melissa, I love home rearranging. Have fun! Linda, you sound more at peace with things than you've been in a long time. I'm glad you've found something that makes you happy AND works. For sure keep checking in here - we want to know how you're doing! And everyone else, hope you have productive, fun weekends. I have a mountain of dishes to do, and mountains of laundry to put away, so I'd better get to it. My whole body is aching from all the garden work lately, but hey, maybe I'm toning my legs and rear end with all the hoeing, bending, squatting, and weed-pulling! I can hope, right? Later! Angela |
Good morning! I woke up to the sound of what I swore was a Jolly Green Giant dentist working in my garage! The garage is right under the bedroom I was sleeping in, and DH had started on his shelf building early. The drill noises are just about to set my teeth on edge! Little DD must have heard it too, because she got up and out of the house in a big hurry! Big DD was irritated because she's on the other side of the house upstairs and the inlaws' dogs were barking under her window. Great way to wake up, huh? Everybody's cranky, except for DH because he's playing with power tools.
Everybody seems to be doing great! Angela in the garden, Frouf eating at my favorite place (Red Lobster -- yummmmm!), Melissa's going to re-arrange the house, and Cindy got ice cream!! As for Core snacks? I have no earthly idea. FF/SF pudding, applesauce, carrots ... ?? I can't think of anymore right now. Oh and popcorn if you can stop at a little mini bag. Linda, I know EXACTLY what you mean, girl. You and I are the very same way. I think it's the years of planning and writing and journaling. I *HAVE* to write it down so I can plan what I'm taking to work, etc. I know you've all heard my stories before! Even this week when I was eating low-carb, or trying to, I was still calculating the points for it. I've come too far to slip now, but my morning weight (empty and nekkid) was ... are you ready? 159. Oh holy moly, that just can't happen! I canNOT start the cycle of regaining and losing. I had been doing so well and I don't know what happened but if I don't get a grip on it very soon, I'm gonna be one mad pup! So I'm off to find some breakfast, clean out the fridge, inventory and then go to the store. I've already had my first 16 ounces of water and am starting on the second. Sigh ... it's gonna be a long day. |
Man you guys have been productive this morning!! Angela, I'm sure that your gardening is shaping up more than just your plants--all that work has to be doing good for your body too! Kathy, sorry you had such a rude awakening this morning...but at least he's building that shelf! ;)
Oh and I forgot to answer about the Core snacks...Kathy's suggestions are good...sf/ff pudding, applesauce, fruit, veggies, making ff dip to go with them....I've had to learn how to snack on healthy things! It also helps if you can plan ahead a little and prepare recipes for core snacks, like the pineapple lush. I made that this week and snacked on it at work. Also, if you want to use points, a serving of crackers or something like that it always tasty too. Gotta go get something done today!! |
hi guys!
mind if i join in? i seem to be doing well on core so i hope to keep it up&hope to actually join a meeting next week. today is the day that i take 'off' and tomorrow there is a f day celeb. so i will do the best i can and resume full force monday. hope yall havin a great weekend! |
anyone know how many points in a cheese personal pan pizza? dwlz says 4 for 1 piece so im guessing 16 then?(i think its cut in 4)
|
Like from Pizza Hut? Look at this:
http://www.yum.com/nutrition/menu.asp Maybe it'll help? I selected pan pizza, then Lovers line, then veggie lovers (figured that would be the lowest). Then when it gave me the summary, I took off the vegetables and just left the cheese. For the whole thing, it said 560 calories, 21 grams of fat, and 4 grams of fiber. That calculated to 12 points for the whole thing, so 1/4 would just be 3! A little better! |
The Dining Out Companion says that a personal pan cheese pizza is 14 points total. I think that they probably put more cheese on it when its just a plain cheese pizza. You might be better off going with a small thin crust pizza and splitting it with someone, so there would be less crust (points).
|
thanks guys.... ill just go w 14 then thank you!
|
Virtual Pizza Building...check it out!!!
Speaking of Pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!See WHAT your favorite adds up too :jeno: :hun: http://people.bu.edu/salge/pizza/pizza/build_pizza.html If you have speakers you can hear it playing "O Solo-Mio"....too cute :D |
I have the craziest experiences when walking Murphy. You remember I told you about being chased by Cletus and his friend? Well today I just took Murph out to pee, not even for a long walk. He was walking at the bottom of an embankment and me at the top (long leash), when suddenly a dog from a house behind us came running up and starting barking! Luckily he was fenced in, but Murphy managed to pull me down the hill...not on my feet. Now I have huge scratches down my calf. Beautiful. The things that I get into. Off to shower and clean my leg off.
|
Oh no!! It shouldn't be something we're laughing at but I can just imagine how it looked! I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt!
|
No, you should laugh. It was ridiculous. It really hurts! I'm such a baby about these things. I can't imagine what the neighbors thought, if anyone saw me. :o Oh well!
On a completely different note, I have decided to make a non-core dinner tonight. Its a baked chicken tortilla recipe that I have missed since being on core. The only things that I will have to count are the tortillas and the cheese, as this recipe is too good to use ff cheese. ;) I am excited about it! Isn't that silly. I am also thinking about making a crustless strawberry pie for dessert, it sounds so good and I think some friends might be coming over later--I'm sure they would enjoy it too! Better go get ready and head to the store, it looks like its going to rain! :rain: |
viv, congratulations on the great weightloss. that's fantastic!
linda, i wish you success. you know we're all behind you 100% and want you happy and healthy. cindy, i eat a lot of popcorn, fruit salad (made with sf/ff van pudding mix), fruit, pudding, and smoothies. you might try the cheese crackers that vickie posted. i'm going to give them a go soon. frouf, how was wi? you're right slow and steady is best. i hate that slow part, too. i'm not getting much exercise now and know i should cut my caloric intake. but i just haven't chosen to do so yet. vickie, sounds like you have a full day ahead. angela, you'll definitely tone up with all that gardening. you remind me of the little red hen. i'll bet lots of folks will want goodies from your garden after you've done all the work. kathy, i need to go chug some water now. you've reminded me. thank you. melissa, what an adventure you had! i'll bet you earn aps for that. i did get some walking in today at the tournament. my feet are paying for it now, though. i don't know if i'll go back tomorrow or not. your dinner sounds good. enjoy! welcome, andrea, it's good to have you here. we walked one loop of the tournament today. you're actually supposed to do 2 loops a day, but 1 was all we could manage. the grands had a good time. grandpa and i are exhausted now and are waiting on them to go home. i know that doesn't sound nice but that's the way it is. it's nice having grands so you can send them home when you get tired. |
I'm back inside now trying to cool off. I got all the flowers planted and some caladiums too. Looks nice but hoo-boy, it's hot out there! Now I feel a little more sorry for DH, who has been in the garage all day long. I probably smell, but he smells worse. He mentioned a movie tonight but by the time he's done for the day, it might be too late and he's probably going to be really tired.
Tomorrow night we're taking his parents to dinner for Father's Day. What's everybody else doing? Big plans?? |
Can't keep up with you guys so I am making a quick post to let you all know I am still alive, but don't have time to read everything.
I blew it tonight, went out to dinner to a "smokehouse" and had ribs and all the extras, even a beer. Time to get back in control tomorrow. IT was good, but my stomach is making me pay dues right now. Sure wish I had more sense with what I ordered. Why does the "good" tasting food make me feel bad emotionally and physically? Core food truly does make me feel better all the way around. I won't beat myself up over this giant step backwards, but I will learn as I go perhaps? Happy Saturday to all! Linda in NH |
thanks guys!
linda dont beat yreself up! i take 1 day off a week(actually i usually split into 2). i wouldnt make it if i didnt! i myself have a family gathering and am attempting to go easy on the food after a healthy breakfast&possibly a healthy snack. i hope to do decent bc today was my off day |
ok im dn 4 the day now i just gotta get through tomm....
im gonna try to not allow myself dessert bc i had it tonight i hope i dont get weak&if i do i will stick to the 3 bite rule my leader taught me.know what i was just thinkin? i guess its bc i took today off n linda was talkin bout doin badly at dinner.... when this happens i think its a good idea to try to fill up on as many of the natural diuretic core foods as possible afterwards. i know i plan to on monday! |
