I am SO deserving of a break ... and SO walking out the door the minute DH gets home on Sunday! I SOOOO need a vacation!!!

Zuki was fine, nothing was wrong. I just took the little ones out front to potty and when he came back in the house, he was trailing blood. Not drops ... no, he looked like a gunshot victim. I managed to grab him and put him on the counter, blotted all the blood and now he's not leaking anymore. I don't know if the wound came open since the stitches just got out 4 hours ago, or what! I just know I'm freakin' sick to death of dealing with this crap! I got all the trails cleaned up but good Lord, that was a lot of blood!

GRRR!!!!

Hey, I'm in PA and just wanted you all to know that Carrie and Bo are on Larry King with Randy and Paula. I guess you guys west of me will be able to see it shortly. It was a pretty good show. Came on at 9:00 here.

Evening everyone! Melissa, that's great news about your dh's interview. I hope the dinner goes OK, and that there is some good Core-like food there. I agree - telling them you have special dietary needs probably wouldn't go over too well! :D

I am proud of myself. I ate at Olive Garden tonight, one of my favorite restaurants, and I did well! I had a small plate of salad, NO breadsticks, diet Coke, and the pork tenderloin with roasted peppers and onions, without the Tuscan potatoes that usually come with it. And, I resisted the lemon cream cake (my FAVORITE dessert) even though my friend was urging me to get it. :cheer: Now maybe that'll offset the chips I ate today. :D

We've got 2 graduation parties to go to tomorrow, but I'm not too worried about eating there. I'll have the girls with me, so they'll keep my hands busy. :)

Dh is having a computer gaming party tonight, so I'm on my own. I wish I had a good book, but I haven't been to the library lately. Maybe I'll spend the time shaving my legs. Or doing dishes? Nah!

Nighty night!
Angela

i was wrong. larry king comes on at 10 pm mountain time.

akiss2you 05-27-2005 11:39 PM

Hey Terry,

How do you make the core cole slaw... Are the burgers core because you are using lean ground beef? We are also having a BBQ. I have the pasta salad and potato salad, but wasnt sure about the dressing for cole slaw.

Oh am I ever up way too early on a Saturday morning. Woke up this morning with my eye burning...it is still hurting really badly...feels like something is lodged in it. I don't know what to do, I've rubbed it, flushed it with water, looked in it...what else can I do? But its very painful and I can't go back to sleep because of it.

Kathy, goodness you had some drama last night. I hope Zuki is okay. And I hope that you can get a vacation soon too. You deserve it.

Angela, Thanks! You did really well at Olive Garden. Its so hard to resist their creamy pastas...and breadsticks! But you had some great self control. Have fun at the parties today.

I am hoping that whatever is in my eye will make its way out shortly...I want to sleep in! So much for that I suppose. I'll talk to you chicks later.

Well, I called the doctor first thing this morning and he said he's not surprised about the bleeding, due to the location and irritation. He said if it has stopped for now, he's not going to do anything about it. I have his home number in case we get into trouble this weekend.

I'm going to the 9:30 meeting -- get this! This morning my scale said 155!

:yikes:

How on earth is it possible to be up 4 pounds? Even if it's water weight or salt bloat -- I don't know what that's all about! I'll be back later with the official WW weight and to change my ticker. I'm not exactly looking forward to the bad news.

Vickie 05-28-2005 09:59 AM

Kathy, poor Zuki...imagine how that poor little guy feels. How long has it been since he was well? Sorry you had to clean blood up. I would have lost my mind with worry. We would have been at the emergency Vet. Kath, I'm so happy that you are going back to meetings. I think it may be the thing that finally helps you to get to 145. Try not to worry what the WW scale says. My home scale is actually heavier than WW's scale. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Angela, you were GREAT! You should be very proud of yourself. You could have had some ww pasta to substitute for the potatoes. I like to eat ww pasta with a bit of Smart Balance and some salt and pepper. Yum. Hope there is some great Core food for you there today.

Sandra, did you want a creamy coleslaw recipe or a sweet and sour. I think I have both.

Well, no big plans for today. Maybe just a trip to Walmart later. I tried to get there during the week but couldn't get it done. I HATE to go there on the weekend, although actually it is crowded all of the time. I need toiletries and cleaning supplies and of course my coupons expire on 5/31. Maybe it would be better to go early on Memorial Day. Hmmmmmm....I'll have to think about this.

Well Jim is done on the treadmill and I haven't walked or eaten breakfast yet so I better get a move on! Have a great Saturday and I'll see you all later.

Melissa, were you outside where something could have blown into your eye and scratched it? Or, sometimes eyelashes get caught up under the lid. I used to pull my eyelid out by holding onto my lashes and try to blow up under my eyelid. Sometimes it would work its way out. Sounds insane, but sometimes it works. Do you have an urgent care center that you can go to? Hope you feel better soon.

Vickie 05-28-2005 10:02 AM

Kathy, you've been doing the Gazelle. Maybe that's doing something with the muscle/water?

Katpo 05-28-2005 12:42 PM

Well, the chubby girl is back -- 157! Holy smokers!!!!!

I'll go fix the ticker now. They put my 10% at 142, but I guess that will actually end up being my ultimate goal as well. All I know is that yesterday and for the last several weeks it has been 151, and this morning all of a sudden it was 155 at home! I had breakfast from Grandy's Thursday and Friday, Taco Bueno last night, some beer, not much water, and some marshmallows that my DD brought home from her camping trip. You wouldn't think that would add so much ... that would be like 14,000 calories extra to gain an actual 4 pounds of fat! I wore denim capris, a sleeveless turtleneck cotton shirt, my flipflops (which I didn't take off) and I also left on my jewelry, etc.

Now I don't know what to do -- Flex or Core -- and so today is my day off and tomorrow I will make the grand decision. Meanwhile, I guess I'd better start doing some heavy thinking.

And it's pouring here! Thunder, lightning, lots of rain ... I hope the ballgame isn't rained out but now there's no way I can go and leave Zuki home alone. I'm watching him carefully to make sure there's no more bad bleeding.

Vickie 05-28-2005 12:48 PM

Congratulations, Kathy, for rejoining! I really believe this will be what you need to help you get over that final hump. Just another reason that we can't trust our home scales. Maybe yours at home is affected by the humidity or something crazy. I always weigh in with my watch and all my jewelry on but I never get on with my shoes. Bummer if the ballgame gets rained out. That'll probably mean a double header tomorrow!

Katpo 05-28-2005 12:54 PM

I really enjoyed going -- there were probably 35-40 people there! I thought that was pretty good for a Saturday morning, plus there's also an 8:00 meeting and quite a few people were leaving from it. The leader had been one of the Core testers before it was officially rolled out, so she knows a lot about it. I think she might still do maintenance on it. She referred to it a whole lot, and then in the orientation which I stayed for, she talked about it more. It almost seemed like she was trying to sway the other new ones (there were 7) towards Core. She would mention the freedom from journaling, and that there were so many foods, and that it was easy to use from the points allowance for those few foods that weren't on the list. Anyway, I don't know which direction I'm going to go, but I do know it's possible for me to get down quite a bit this first week because I imagine a lot of this number is salt and water. I also think my new BP medicine might be affecting things a little and if that's the case, I'll ask them to switch it to something else.

Vickie 05-28-2005 02:38 PM

Kathy, that's great that you got a Core savvy Leader. I think that would make a world of difference.

So I'm a cookbook fanatic but since I'm retired I can't afford to keep buying them and finding out that there are only one or two recipes that I want to try. I got my library card and took out 6 cookbooks last week, including the new South Beach one. I found a couple that appealed to me that I'll share on our recipe board. One is Cottage Cheese stuffed Celery, another is Mixed Greens with Creamy Poppy Seed dressing, and the third is Apple and Almond Souffle (no flour and the almonds are optional!). I'll share any other goods ones too. An old WW book, Cut the Fat, had a Hasty Pudding which is cornmeal and bananas. Sounds good to me! These are all untried so let me know if you try them and like them.

septembersgoal 05-28-2005 02:56 PM

Vickie, that is such a good idea! I don't know why it never occurred to me to check out cookbooks from the library. You have inspired me to get a library card. Oh and your eye advice doesn't sound silly. I finally got mine settled down enough to go back to sleep for awhile. Its feeling better but I bought some eye drops too.

Kathy, Good luck with your decision. I have also struggled with which plan I have done better on. I feel like Core would work best, if I would work the plan. But its that way with everything I guess. Glad you had a good experience at your meeting.

DH and I went downtown to the Farmer's Market today. Its a beautiful day and it was so fun! We didn't buy anything, but it was just so nice to be out and about. I also took a bunch of pictures of downtown buildings and scenary. It was a really fun evening. We are going out for Mexican tonight with some friends. I think that I will get fajitas and try to lay off the tortillas. Got to clean up the house, be back later!!
