Hi Ladies
Angela you sure sound romantic to me I'd love to kidnap DH for a romantic weekend like that in place of champagne you could get sparkling cider?
Kathy Everyone needs a night off you will be ok
Tommorrow IS WI and I'm nervous! Yesterday I wanted to eat all day today I don't want to eat at all WIERD
I'm in the middle of cleaning the apartment I have to make a HUGE batch of potatoes au gratin tonight for a party tommorrow which will be a non core fest so if I eat there Minute portions and Minute bites
I'm also getting my do done and going shopping for new job clothes!
Sunday we are going to a wine and chocolate tasting at a winery in South Jersey
Monday is Vday and allegedly I'm having a girls night on Friday so I'll be hitting my max points next week
Gotta run this place is a MESS

Katpo 02-11-2005 05:06 PM

wriben, hang in there! You'll break thru the slump, I'm sure of it!

I'm home now and making my onions on the stove. I had an entire 5 quart dutch oven full of the slices. When they're all cooked down nice and brown I'll put them in freezer bags to await soup-making someday. The house smells very good! I stopped at the store and got bad HB meat (85/15) for the family to make some hamburgers tonight, and good HB for myself (96/4) to make patties for my lunches/dinners next week. Also got a very nice looking roast to cook in the crockpot with potatoes and carrots on Sunday.

So that's my day! I think DH is going to his friend's house tonight for the poker game, and I have decided not to go.

wribbenn 02-11-2005 05:07 PM

greetings,

Frannie & Angela- thanks for the extra support,it truley helps.... just being able to know someone else is your place at times, means alot... My DH an I are going to DD tonight for a bit, DH is doing some repair work in DD's kitchen so all of the grandkids (all 5) will help take my mind off of eating while I am there.. then tomorrow we have basketball games to go to with the kids... I am happy that I will be busy for the rest of this evening and most of tomorrow...
thanks ladies...I'm trying but please forgive me sometimes my spelling and grammer isn't the best

PinkBrideToBe 02-11-2005 05:08 PM

Yay!

Yay... I had my weigh in yesterday and I thought I was going to fail horribly because of those darn alcoholic drinks and that fat hamburger on sunday for the superbowl... but I did great! 2.4 more down and I got my 10 ribbon! yay... I hung it up on the fridge - If it wasn't for the support on this board and the awesome recipes and great women I don't know what I'd do. Thanks girls :)

Katpo 02-11-2005 05:17 PM

Yay, Bride!! WTG on that weigh-in!!! You are doing super!

Vickie 02-11-2005 05:20 PM

Wriben, this too shall pass. Take it from all of us who have been there. Are you feeling down for a reason that you can deal with or make go away? Sometimes for me I have no specific reason....I'm just blue. If you are really hungry then have a bit more Core food. If you mess up at a meal get right back on at the next meal. Try not to let it ruin your whole day or week. One bad meal will not wreck your weigh in. Have a little extra water and maybe a little extra exercise and you'll be just fine. Or maybe a bubble bath or a movie would help take your mind off your "blueness"!

Kathy, Hubby and I were going to go to the movie this afternoon but changed our minds. A quiet evening at home sounds good to us. Sounds like you'll be having a quiet one as well. I bet that beer bloat will be gone quick as it came!

Frannie, you make exercise sound fun. I'd like to go for walks with you. I just don't ever think about going outside to walk. Maybe Hubby would go for a walk with me some time.

Kierie, I could not do what you are planning for the next couple of days and stay on program. You must have a lot of will power!

Bride, glad you came over here to post and huge CONGRATULATIONS on your success. At this rate you'll get rid of that 38 pounds in no time flat. You should be very proud of yourself!

Vickie 02-11-2005 05:36 PM

I just got back from my lunch at Sal Carvao's a South American steakhouse where they give you unlimited amounts of meat that they carve at your table. They served filet mignon, and top and bottom sirloin and a bunch of other fatty meats that I didn't eat. I had a beautiful salad (mixed greens, tomato, fresh baby green bean, black olives, fresh beets, asparagus, and I tried an artichoke heart for the first time). I was surprised that they didn't have any fruit so I'm behind on my fruit today. I'm sorry to say that I ate way past satisfied.....and through full....on my way to stuffed! I didn't eat any carbs (no bread or rice or potatoes) and the meat was very plain (mostly garlic, salt and pepper)cooked over charcoal. I just ate too much food. So I'll drink my water tonight and have a smoothie when/IF I'm ever hungry again! Hubby will still want food later so I'll be giving him some leftover pizza casserole and a salad. I'm glad we went because it was fun and different but also expensive. $25.00 for lunch. I think I got my money's worth! :o

Katpo 02-11-2005 05:41 PM

Vickie, there's a place like that in Fort Worth if it's what I'm thinking it is. This place is called Texas de Brazil and they bring you a whole lot of meat to the table and keep it coming the whole time! We've only gone once but I remember it being very expensive too. I'm so glad you had a good time with your friend!

aghiowa 02-11-2005 06:17 PM

Wriben, bad grammar only bugs me in people I don't know, so you're safe! :D Besides, you do just fine. My dh has learning disabilities, and is a terrible speller/writer, so I'm used to much worse. And I still love him!!

Great job on your weigh-in Bride! Doesn't it feel great to hang up your success on the fridge? I keep mine there too.

Gotta go cook supper for the dd's, then out we go!

Angela

KO 02-11-2005 08:52 PM

Vickie I think I'm going to bring a bag of baby Carrots on my errands with me tommorrow so when we get to fatty food Defcon 5 I won't be hungry Also NOT letting DH make my plate! he has guy portion ITIS Sunday I figure Max I'll have 2/3 chocolates Vday I'm just going to be good all day order something legal looking for my entree and DH and I always share dessert
Girls Night I'm a bit worried about b/c of the booze factor B/c its no longer at My house Which is good from a cleaning perspective but bad from a food selection Booze availability
I'll do Diet Coke and nurse one Drink Thats the plan Maybe I'll make a contract with myself so I don't break it
btw the meat and salad sound heaaavenly
Bride you are kicking ARSE!
Kathy MMMM I love onions! as much as I love Garlic and Anythign I make can lower your blood pressure Can I come to your house and Inhale ?

wribbenn 02-11-2005 08:54 PM

greetings,
just got back from the DD. We had a great time with all of the grandkids... it was fun. They sure help make the time fly ... Going to go spend some quality time with DH now we enjoy the discovery channel. On friday evenings, American chopper, southern steel, american hot rod.... I told DH they other day that to here us talk about these shows you would think that we have a garage full of motorcycles and hot rods ... turth be known I have never even rode on a motor cycle.... :corn:

vickie- sound like a great place to lunch... :eating2:

Angela- thanks :)

Pink bride- :goodscale great WI

KO 02-11-2005 08:59 PM

Wribben I LOVE DISCOVERY !!

Katpo 02-11-2005 09:02 PM

LOL, wriben! That's funny! My DH is "Mr. Motorcycle" -- used to race CMRA and has had lots and lots of them. Right now he has a 2004 Mat Mladin replica GSXR that is his baby! I had my own bike until last fall when we sold it since I wasn't riding it much. Here I am ...

http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL564...2/36627103.jpg

I sorta look puzzled, but it was VERY cold out and I was really hesitant to get back on!

Enjoy your evening!

aghiowa 02-11-2005 10:33 PM

We had a lot of fun this evening. I got the hibachi steak and vegetables. The chef added a little butter, but not too bad. I passed on the rice, had no dressing on my salad, and only sipped at the soup. Plus, I only ate half my steak and saved the rest for tomorrow. It was really good, and the restaurant was fun. I've never been to a place like that before. So, I think I did a pretty good job for eating out...

Angela

Vickie 02-11-2005 11:08 PM

Kathy, you look adorable. My girlfriend that I had lunch with today is a Harley girl. Her hubby builds and sells custom Harleys. She has her own bike still. I haven't been on a bike in many years. My fiance that died had a bike. It was a big Kawasaki. I used to always want to drive it until he convinced me that it was too big for me to drive alone!

Angela, great job! Isn't it empowering when you go out and still do well? Hubby and I really enjoy eating out.

KO 02-12-2005 01:07 AM

Kathy! YOU HOT MOMMA LOOK at you!
Angela GOOD JOB! :bravo:
Vickie I always wanted to try to ride a motorcycle!

Vickie 02-12-2005 10:07 AM

I don't feel so good after overeating yesterday. Does that make sense?

Katpo 02-12-2005 10:13 AM

Uh oh! It makes perfect sense! Is it your tummy or do you just feel bad all over?

Vickie 02-12-2005 10:17 AM

Mostly my tummy. I still feel uncomfortable. I'm also going to need alot of water and exercise to get rid of the HUGE quantity of food I ate yesterday.

hoochinelly 02-12-2005 12:34 PM

Kathy you look so cute in your photo! The most motorcycle I have ever ridden is a moped when I was in high school...I turned off the pavement onto a gravel road and went flying off ...still have the scars to prove it! Since then I have taken my horsepower from the 4 legged kind...although they are not any safer!!!

so tonight we are having this thing at church called treat your sweetheart...we meet at a local restaurant for dinner and then go back to have dessert that all the men have prepared for the ladies. The ladies judge the desserts and we all have a great time but....this means tasting each of the desserts! ackk! WW nightmare!! Maybe I will just tell them I am trying to be good...surely they will understand, right? My DH is making this beautiful mixed berry bundt cake in a gorgeous heart shaped pan that I picked up for him a t Williams Sonoma...hopes he gets grand prize!
Lorie

Katpo 02-12-2005 12:37 PM

Fake it, Lorie! You can pretend, can't you? Or maybe put it in your mouth, taste it, then spit it out? Okay, no, that wouldn't be good. Well, good luck!

aghiowa 02-12-2005 12:52 PM

Maybe you should just smell them!! Make sure to put your face really close, maybe lick it a time or two, then make your judgement. I bet you'd only get to see a few desserts before people got rid of you, and the temptation would be gone!! :D OK, maybe your idea was better.

Sorry, in a wacky mood today...
Angela

aghiowa 02-12-2005 12:56 PM

Actually, that's a huge temptation. I don't envy you - stay strong, you can do it! I'm busy telling myself I really don't want a leftover muffin I made the dd's for breakfast. I don't want it, I don't. I need to feed it to someone else pretty soon.

Mixed berry Bundt cake sounds quite good. I bet it'll turn out very pretty. I know, maybe you could just judge presentation, how it looks, instead of taste. Tell everyone you're a specialized judge. :)

Angela

wribbenn 02-12-2005 01:02 PM

Greetings ladies,
evening was good last night, we spent a quite evening at home and enjoyed the discovery channel regular friday night line up....
Kathy- I can just imagine how you must of enjoyed the bike, My DH would love to have one but he insists on my riding with him...I am just petrified of them I like them and enjoy the shows and the people ( sister and brothe-in-law ride and are in a club) but thats as far as it goes.... I admire you're ability and strenght...

Angela- the willpower your have... great job... :cp:

Vickie- I get that feeling sometimes when I eat beyond that satisfied point too...I know when I think I should quit eating but when it is so good I just keep on munching....

Off to basketball game - grandson is playing this afternoon.
Wriben

hoochinelly 02-12-2005 02:59 PM

hahahahaha Angela!!! What a great idea that licking thing is!!! Reckon I could get away with it??? Probably not but it might be worth a try!

Vickie 02-12-2005 03:48 PM

Linda, good to hear from you as always! How is Flex going for you?

Frannie57 02-12-2005 04:45 PM

Nice poem! Love it!

Lore--A Challenge is an Opportunity to Succeed......This is what you have tonight, good luck! I know you can do it.

Vickie--I hope you are feeling better real soon

Kathy--nice bike. DH had a bike until last year! Will get another I am sure......he travelled by bike to come and see me in Illinois......14 hours......true love! DS has his bike license as well but can't afford the insurance.....some day.

Beautiful cold day today. Sun is shining. 2 inches of snow this morning but it is off the roads now. I think I will go for a walk......maybe skip a few of my streets that I do! People will think I am nuts but hey if you can't have fun it is not worth it!

We are going to the movies tonight to see Hitch! Hope it is good. Will bypass the popcorn and "sneak" something legal in!

Cheers

Spring_Thaw 02-12-2005 05:26 PM

Angela-WTG at the Hibachi place. :) John and I are HUGE Japanese food lovers, and there's a place we used to go to every week for sushi, and once in a while for thier Hibachi. Sushi is the only thing I still crave with a vengeance, and I got really excited after switching to Core when I realized I can use my point on it. (It was pretty much out of the question on SBD.) Although, I can say this--I can't believe how much money we've saved not going out every weekend for sushi night. :) There's alwys a bright side.

Kathy-Love the pic of you and the bike! John and I always joke like we're gonna get a bike, but he's like 135 soaking wet, and I'm barely 5 feet tall. He'd blow off the thing, and I'd be zooming along with my feet unable to touch the ground! hehehe.

Hugs and happy stuff to everyone else! I was fairly productive today. Got some good cleaning in, took a lovely nap with the (fur)babies, and I think I may even do some research on my paper before all is said and done. :)

Froufy 02-12-2005 06:50 PM

Checking In!!

First - congrats to Bride on the great weigh - in, way to go! :cb: :cb: :cb:

Kathy - you look great with that bike! Did I ever mention to you ladies that there is a big honking motorcylce in our garage - dh's, but not in working order right now (thank goodness). ...and yes I have taken a couple of rides on it with him (when we were dating)...mostly with my eyes shut and fingers clenching his jacket as tightly as possible - used to get cramps in my hands cuz I wouldn't let go - even at the red lights and stop signs! (big chicken Froufie).

Hooch - good luck with the "sampling"...just stick a piece of sugarless gum in your mouth and keep chewing! :dizzy:

Angela - your dinner sounds great - I LOVE JAPANESE steakhouse places - there is one in town which the kids always choose when it's their birthday dinner - great food and pretty core friendly! Unfortunately I also love tempura which I'm sure would add points very quickly

Sorry to hear you "overdid" it a bit Vickie (altho it sure sounded yummy) - hope you recover very soon! :grouphug:

Good news for me this week - down another 2 lbs! YIPPEE. I did exercise 4 times this week (yes I did my Richard simmons video last night), and I"m sure that helped.

It is almost time to get ready for our special Valentine's dinner out and I am really anticipating it - very nice restaurant w/amazing food. I actually called yesterday to find out about the valentine's meal (table d'hote) - starts w/a soup (morel/mushroom w/vermouth!)..then some appetizers (I caught "baby greens" and foie gras or spring rolls or something w/r____t - you know the word we're not allowed to use in assocation w/food or eating?). Main dishes are filet mignon (black peppercorn sauce, potato/leek pancake and veggies, a fish dish, a chicken dish and OSTRICH??? - is that core??? )....and a "selection" of desserts??? Depending on how I'm doing I might indulge in a little something but basically don't feel the need right now for anything sweet? I think I am leaning toward the filet mignon but might try the fish depending on how it's prepared? and what sauce it has on it?

Best news is when I got home from doing groceries this pm I actually got on my TREADMILL (even before getting on the computer!) and did a 30 (pre-programmed) walk....it kept changing from 1 to about 1.5% elevation and from 3.1 to 3.4 mph - quite a nice workout and I was able to watch the Simpsons  while doing it so it was pretty painless!

Also had my nails done today - a nice bright crimson/pinky color to celebrate Valentine's day - got kiddies presents (valentine mug & stuffed bear for dd (who is currently not speaking to me by the way), hot wheels cars for the little guy and some cadbury easter creme eggs for the big boy - he loves them). Dh got a mushy card and a box of chocolate covered cherries (probably inhaled them all by now? - I of course have not had any!). I am still enjoying my dozen red roses and have a card to open as well.

DH likes the idea of getting "ourselves" a blender for Valentine's day as well so might go shopping for one tomorrow (anyone have any "brand names" they want to share?)....

Now comes the very difficult task of beautifying myself! :D :D Going to shower and make myself presentable (and will try to stop thinking of all the laundry that is waiting for me tomorrow - UGH!).

Froufie

Spring_Thaw 02-12-2005 07:57 PM

ROck on, Frouf! I hope you have a bunch of fun tonight!

wribbenn 02-12-2005 08:00 PM

Froufie - have a wonderful evening...

Katpo 02-12-2005 08:19 PM

Oh Frouf! Have a wonderful evening out!! And yes ... I think ostrich is CORE! Whatever!

I would recommend a red KitchenAid blender. It will remind you of Valentine's Day, and red is a very popular color in the KA stuff this year. I have a whole bunch of new red kitchen utensils and love them.

You'll have to tell us why your DD isn't speaking. You know you can't drop a bomb like that and then just run off!!!

KO 02-13-2005 12:51 AM

Froufy Have a Great time!
WI RESULTS DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNN I am down 3.4 pounds!!!!!
Shopping was great DH made me buy retail which makes me physically ill but I have 2 hachacha suits and some good peices the rest will be filled in by Old Navy
the birthday party DH and I split a plate and a piece of cake so we survived unscathed I just grabbed a yogurt when we got back about 10 minutes ago.

mumto2 02-13-2005 08:58 AM

   KO, Froufy and Bride! Great job! You give us inspiration to stay OP and exercise.

Went to dinner last night for Valentines day. Had steak, baked potato, salad, diet soda and water! Trying to be good for next weeks weight in.

Going to finish my :coffee: then :tread: so I'll check in later.

Vickie 02-13-2005 10:28 AM

Frouf, sounds like a wonderful night! Hope you had a great time. Sure sounds like your hubby might be coming around. You deserve it!

Kierie, you did FABULOUS! What a great week. It's fun to change your tracker isn't it?!

Lisa, was it hard mentally for you to be good at a holiday meal? It was for me at first but now it's getting easier.

Nice job girls. I made corn cakes yesterday and they were to die for. I was going to eat leftovers today but I've changed my mind. All I can think about is having more of them. Might be a sign that I can't make them too often!

I also made the apple berry mock crisp, or whatever the heck it is called, and Jim didn't like it too much. The steel cut oats gave him the same texture as couscous.....and we all know he's never eating couscous again! I ate mine and it was just ok. I though it needed Splenda and I think I left it in the oven too long the second time around. Another 20 minutes would have been enough after the first 20. I'll probably have mine cold after lunch or for a snack. I have to find something else to make for dessert now. He LOVES his dessert! Today, I'm roasting a whole turkey and making mashed potatoes. I was going to make corn but fear that, too, is a trigger for me so I'm making green beans instead.

What's up with all of you?

Katpo 02-13-2005 10:42 AM

I hope this is a quiet day around here -- but I have just made my list of chores and it ain't little!

DH is off on a motorcycle ride, big DD is going to a BD party and little DD is at work until 3:00, then probably off with her friends. I am making a roast in the crockpot, need to clean up the kitchen, fold some clothes, wash the upstairs towels, and cut out fabric for a quilt I'm starting for my new niece. She was born at the end of November but I figure I've still got a little time. I make one for all of the nieces/nephews and I'll make this one big enough where it can also be a toddler quilt. So far I'm pleased with my color selections, and I'll try to post a pic when I get it all pieced.

aghiowa 02-13-2005 10:45 AM

Hey everybody. Congratulations weigh-ers! Great job on those weigh ins. And everyone who was good during their meals out, congratulations too! I got some pretty exciting news yesterday. My BIL, who we despaired of ever getting married (he's 31) is engaged and is going to be married next month to a Colombian girl. They met online, and he just got back from spending 3 weeks down there. I saw pictures, and she's a cutie. He's going back in March, they're getting married, he's coming home, she's waiting 2 weeks for her visa, then she comes to join him. She's afraid of the cold in Iowa (guess it's like 80 degrees there all the time), and I don't blame her. March in Iowa is not a pretty month either. I'm thinking that I'll get her e-mail address, and start up a dialogue with her to let her know there's family here that's excited about her coming, and that I can help her. For those of you who have emigrated or know about this, what's the best way I can help? I want her to feel loved and comfortable, but Iowa is SO different from Colombia. I do have a friend from Mexico who recently moved here to marry an Iowa man, so I will hook them up. Yay, a new sister in law! Anyway, hope everyone has a great Sunday. We're off to church pretty soon - it's a grey, rainy, icky looking day here, but not too cold.

bye!
Angela

Katpo 02-13-2005 10:49 AM

Oh yeah, confession. I also have ONE other little chore to do ... am embarrassed to say it but I might as well. Maybe it'll keep me accountable and make sure I really DO IT!

You know that thing we put up end of November, first of December ... the green thing? With colored lights and balls and stuff like that? Most people take theirs down early January? Well ... um ... mine is still ... there. Yes, it's still there. Now in my defense, we NEVER go into that room. It doesn't show, nobody sees it, and for goodness sakes at least we don't still light it up! Problem is that I only remember about undecorating when DH isn't home, and since it's 12 feet tall I have to get the BIG ladder, which hangs on the garage wall behind the motorcycle trailer and I can't get to it. I've undecorated it as far up as I can reach, so today I'm going to get the medium ladder and get a few more ornaments down. The lights are built-in so that's good. Bows are staying on thru the summer this year. And ... sigh ... even if I get it undone, I can't put it up, because it goes in the very top attic, which means dragging it upstairs, then up the attic stairs. We have two walk-in attics but nooooo, the tree just has to go in the very tip-top.

One year is was April before it got put up (was undecorated in February) because DH spent the whole months of Jan, Feb, and March at Whiteman AFB in Missouri. Now THAT was embarrassing! The kids wouldn't let their friends come over.

Vickie 02-13-2005 10:50 AM

Kathy, I wish I enjoyed stuff like quilting. I fear that I do not have the patience!

Is it really 64 in Texas right now? It's 40 degrees here in Chicago and it is supposed to be raining all day.

Katpo 02-13-2005 11:08 AM

Yes ma'am ... it really is. And the sun is trying to come out. We had rain for the last few days, but today the high is going to be 70, I think. I will probably go for a nice walk later this afternoon.
