Default Core or points?

I am a lifetime member of WW's from many years ago. I have gained a lot of weight and finally returned to a meeting last nite. I would love to try the core plan, but I don't understand it yet. Would you recommed it for a returning member? Thank you.

Weenie, absolutely, I would recommend Core! I've done WW many times and am back again with 150 pounds to lose. I've been doing Core since 9/9 and have lost 8.4 pounds. It is a much better program than Flex IMHO. Less cravings and less hunger. This site has great support and recipes as does the Barbo Recipe site at http://www.barbosdietkitchen.com/archive.pl. Good Luck!

It comes down to what will make you happy and make you feel satisified.

My personal opinion is Core is more like the W/W DIET of old because it forces you to choose to use WPA for whole grain breads, full fat cheeses and most of dining out options and for me those 35 WPA go quickly...but on the other hand the idea of whole foods is good no matter which you choose (Core or Flex).

I am not putting down either program but for me where I refuse to give up taste for a 'dietary' lifestyle (full fat cheese for no fat cheese <ewwwwwww>) and as much as I dine out during the week Core just doesn't work for me. For many it does work (many here) but there are many who are manipulating the CoreFoods to make 'baked' goods and things like pancakes where W/W has posted a reason why these aren't Core foods...but it all boils down to whatever works for you and is not a trigger.

I am a returning member and I love Core. I think it is a wonderful option for those of us who made lifetime on the old program but were unable to maintain. This is a much easier program to follow and you have the advantage of having all the tools already from getting to goal or losing on the old plan (portion control, better food choices, mindset to lose). I say try it, you can get all the help you need here on this board.

You can do it!

I have probably tried every WW program since 1973 and finally made lifetime 5 years ago. I'm back after letting 20 lbs creep back on. I must say this is definitely my favorite version and seems to be the least restrictive since we have 35 WPs to use if needed. I'm also learning to only eat when actually hungry instead of the mindless snacking I used to do or eating more than I wanted to make sure I met my points for the day.

I wish more people at my meeting (I'm the only one) were on Core because everything is geared for Flex. I try to use WPs only if I eat out. Go ahead and try Core -- I think you'll really like it.

This is where in MNSHO I feel the opposite. To me those are not enough 'extra' point to allow my body to lose with my 'carbs' and the dining out (where we dine is also not CoreFoods because of additives and extras) and there are things I just can't eat (fat free cheese is a good example) because I refuse to give up flavor for a 'diet.' Remember these are just my feelings however I tend to stick to the concept of Core even with my 'Flore/Clex' version to remain more satisified (which is what most people do not do.

You are lucky either program gets talked about during the meeting. My leader talks the 'lecture subject' and if you want more on either program you need to stay for the 'newbies' lecture.

I couldn't have said it better!!! I too made lifetime on the old program, and continued going to meetings until the points program came along. It was just way too much freedom for me, personally! I love core for the very ridgedness that probably others hate....;-) It takes all the temptation away for me!
