Good Morning:

I'm up with the chickens but I've been asleep since about 7:30PM last night. I'm coming down with a cold and don't feel so great. DH and I both have it and I assume it is from the plane travel last Tuesday. I've taken some Actifed and I hope it helps. I had great plans to go to a new exercise class this morning. If I'm awake and feel like it I'll go and spread the virus to someone else!

Yesterday was quite busy with family stuff but I did manage to keep my calories in check. I hope you all have a great day, finding moments of peace and joy throughout the day.

Rhonda

Vickie 08-16-2010 05:50 AM

Rhonda, sorry I missed you. I've been up since 3:00. My hiatel hernia is killing me. 4 days of hauling my fat butt up out of the pool. Sigh. It's always something.

Good Morning to the rest of you Chicks! I hope you are all in dreamland. I'll be going to JC this morning. Hope I can stay awake to drive. Brodie gets his cone off this morning. I'm excited for that anyway!

Nancy, I feel so sorry for you but I know that you need to focus on you and your husband now since you two are the future. I love being with my Husband. I told him yesterday that I still think he's funny. He said he loves to hear my laugh. You just need to connect and figure out what is fun for you and Robin to do together. What did you used to do when you were dating? Maybe you could surprise him with a date!

Sandra, how's it going?

Mary Ann, I hope you slept. I couldn't!

Off to play Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook!

beach bum 08-16-2010 09:24 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Looks like we are going to get some rain sometime today, its an overcast cloudy day,but very muggy outdoors so I have my living-room A/C going.

My friend Mary and & had a quite type of brunch yesterday. My other two friends from the choir didn't make it one had company coming for the road race and the other fell and was immobilized. Going to call to see if I can be any service to her.

RHONDA-Thanks for the new pages.Sorry your and you DH came down with a cold.I have be fortunate I haven't caught anything yet, even when my DGC were here.I guess I have enough things going on without having other germs.

VICKIE-Sorry that you didn't slept well last night, I hate that with it happens to me.I slept good until the room started to get muggy and had to turn the A/C on for the rest of the night.Good luck at Jenny Craig My new W-I day is Saturday, lost 5 lbs. since my DD & DGC were here 2 weeks ago[see siggy]just can't get out of the 170's.

Have a great day

Tejas 08-16-2010 11:06 AM

Maryann, congrats on the weight loss. That's great, and you'll get out of the 170's..it will happen.

I have 2 more pounds on me than I did when I went to Toronto. That's not too bad. I didn't feel like going to the gym this morning. In fact, I slept until almost 9AM. I'll go when I see Todd this afternoon. A light workout will be better than none at all.

BBL

Vickie 08-16-2010 12:56 PM

Got to move my ticker downward today! .6 down for a total of 51.6. Bit by bit, inch by inch.

ontarget 08-16-2010 03:33 PM

Vickie and Maryann, congratulations on your losses. :woohoo:

Vickie and Rhonda, are you girls feeling better now? I hope so.

Curtis got his staples out this AM and is going to PT in a few minutes. He's still keeping me busy, but that's all right. He's improving daily.

I'm OP.

sloanie 08-16-2010 06:18 PM

Sorry some of you chicks are under the weather! I hope you are all on your way to recovery :)

I'm off and runnin' on another busy week. I'm still getting in the swing of school, and my house is really messy! I'm not gonna worry about it 'cause no one else does. My eating is all over the place. I really need to get control! I'm cooking a core supper right now, so that's a start.

I've got to get busy! I'll try to check in later.

Oh yea, congrats to the losers!!!!

ontarget 08-16-2010 09:53 PM

Sloan, I can tell by your post you're running in circles. I hope your circles get smaller soon.

Curtis had a good PT session. Afterwards, I made us chef salads. Talk about scrumptious! We had some fresh avocado with them. Life is good.

Tejas 08-16-2010 10:14 PM

Hi All:

I saw Todd this afternoon and worked hard, especially considering that I really don't feel well. I didn't eat much today, but got in my protein shake before the workout and chocolate milk (yummy) afterwards.

Glad to hear that Curtis is progressing.

Sloan, good luck. My house is a mess too, and I don't have any good reasons for that!

I'm going to turn in early. After all, I got only 11 hours sleep last night !

Rhonda

beach bum 08-17-2010 12:07 PM

Hi Ladies:)

We didn't get the rain until way after midnight and right after the lightening & thunder boomers appeared it went back to hot sticky muggy weather.

Was supposed to go out for a walk with my friend Alice this afternoon if the humidity goes down, but I think I will be going on my bike instead in my nice comfortable A/C room while watching a computer DVD movies like I did yesterday.

RHONDA-Thanks, that was a surprising whoosh I couldn't believe the first week 3 and the second we another 2. Hope it continues that way. You're doing so great with your exercise trainer.

SANDRA-Thanks for your congrats,Hope that I can live up to not going back into the 170's again,we'll see what Saturday W-I holds. Your salad does sound scrumptious. I Have an abundance of tomatoes in my mini garden and I have made tomato salad either with onion with a vinegar oil base or with fresh herbs and mozzarella cheese. The possibility are endless. I also made a good cucumber sale with the same base.

SLOANE-My house was a mess ever since the hot humid was arrived.I was lucky I go the downstairs done when my DD visited ,but my upstairs has to be done soon or I'll have creatures taking over. Getting tired of counting calories so I think I will let WW count for me and go back on the flex plan for a while anyway.

Have to go,my dinner is ready have a nice day

ontarget 08-17-2010 06:42 PM

Hi there. I have been hungry today and ate a little too much. Life goes on.

Maryann, sometimes I think I'll never see the 170's either, but I'm on the wrong end of that.

Ya'll have a good evening. I'll be back later.

Tejas 08-17-2010 10:23 PM

My eating has been OK, but not great. I went to aquafit and am now taking Kyra out for a walk. I've been sleepy all day long!

I hope you're all more awake than I am.

nancy237 08-18-2010 02:43 AM

tough day..
I guess it is really hitting me that after 20 years I have
2 more days before my nest is empty.

I can't decide about going somewhere after we take my son to college.
I thought I would want to but I don't know where.
Coming home and seeing his empty room is going to be so sad.
I never thought I would miss his very messy room.

beach bum 08-18-2010 08:12 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Another day of humidity after a beautiful breeze we had down at the beach yesterday afternoon. Last night while I had my windows opened that breeze with all its clammiest came though that my new fire alarms were beeping again, Closed the windows and the A/C is on again. WHAT A SUMMER!!!! Did the world go upside down, and the north is getting the heat????? and wheres the rain,my poor veggies and bushes are desperately looking for some.

SANDRA-I over eat when the temps & humidity is high. More are less pick on foods my bad time is evening.I was in the refrig several times last night.but I must stop or I'll never get out of the 170's.

RHONDA-I think what happening to you and all of us is the Lazy Crazy Days Of Summer.Once it gets cooler we'll be back to normal again when it comes to eating.

NANCY- & more  to you during this time,I remember all so well when my last child enlisted in the NAVY and the house was quite and we felt so last without him. He'll be back for the holidays,as for going away,on vacation you still have to go back home, you're just avoiding the reality of it all. At least I find that for myself, going away to family just brings the house emptier when I return.

Have a great morning, have to get the garbage out to the curb

Tejas 08-18-2010 10:18 AM

Good Morning:

I think you're right, Maryann, it's summer: be lazy.

Nancy, hang in there. You'll have some grieving to do. I remember my mother telling me how sad she was when I left. I was the last one out and probably the one she had the best relationship with. You'll find your footing. Maybe you'll always miss his messy room, but it can be a sweet memory eventually, not just a sign of loss.

I slept in, again. I have to go to a political luncheon fund raiser at noon. Then I see Todd at 4PM. That just might be all that I do!

Rhonda

Vickie 08-18-2010 10:50 AM

Good Morning Chicks! Busy, busy, busy....but today is a day of rest for me.

Rhonda, I've been sleepy too. Wonder what's up with that?

Nancy, you've got to develop a new routine for yourself. Maybe a B & B would be fun for you guys. If you have two ideas put them in a hat and pick one. Don't be paralyzed into sitting sad in your empty house because you can't decide. I think that would be worse!

Sloan, hope you stop running in circles soon! The kids go back to school next week here. My 6 year old Great Nephew is going all day to first grade after half day kindergarden. He says he's not going. And, his Sister is going to preschool for the first time. The oldest is happy to go back as she misses her friends. I wouldn't want to be my Niece next week....or the teachers!

Sandra, how's it going? Back in routine?

Mary Ann, we are hiding from the humidity here too.

Time for my oatmeal and fresh blueberries!

ontarget 08-18-2010 11:13 AM

Maryann, the South is getting the heat, too. We've had around several 100* days in a row. :yikes: We're ready for an arctic blast.

Nancy, :hugs: Allow yourself a certain amount of time to grieve if you need to do so.

Vickie, we're sort of back in routine. Curtis is getting better and better and it's getting easier all the time to assist him. However, the yard needs mowing again. Guess who gets that job. Curtis said we could hire it done, but I'm too stubborn.

I went to Beaumont Ranch for a pedicure/manicure. I really needed that pampering. Today we're having a date out for lunch. Life is good.

All of you have a wonderful day.

Vickie 08-18-2010 11:19 AM

Ohhhhh.....I sounded harsh, Nancy. Sometimes, in writing things don't come out the way we want. I just want you to be happy and you sound SOOOO sad.

Vickie 08-18-2010 11:20 AM

Glad Curtis is improving. Have fun at your lunch.

No , I didn't take it harsh at all...
I tend to sit & do nothing when I am very sad and you are right that I need to plan , so I don't do that.

Even if Robin and I explore the areas on the way home it would be a good distraction. I love exploring...

He is going to UNC Charlotte and we are driving from Raleigh NC, so if anyone knows things to do between those let me know (even if it is a few hours in another direction) I looked at Charleston SC but that is a bit too far .

Sorry I haven't read all the posts , I will try to catch up tonight.

Thanks everyone for listening and advice..

ontarget 08-18-2010 05:41 PM

We had a lunch date today. I had planned for it and had a cheeseburger and fantastic onion rings. Now I'm happily eating foods that will get me to my goal quicker. Every now and then a few onion rings fall into our lives. I'm glad I'd planned for them.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day. We're inside staying cool. Curtis has PT tomorrow AM. Not much else happening today.

Vickie 08-18-2010 07:53 PM

And you didn't call me? ;)

ontarget 08-18-2010 08:30 PM

I should have. ;)

Tejas 08-18-2010 11:11 PM

oooh, those sound good. I had Mexican food at lunch, so had only salad and vegetables for dinner. I've got to go to bed, not because I'm tired but because I don't want to eat!

Nancy, I'm sorry that I don't know that area. I don't know if it would be helpful but you might look at the Southern Living website and see if they have information about what to do there.

Night all!
Rhonda

Tejas 08-19-2010 07:00 AM

Good Morning:

I've been awake for 2 hours already. I've got my ironing done and some papers sorted.

I want to suggest that you find the thread on the 3FC website called "does it work" ..just below where we are...and read about protein shakes. I haven't read the Consumer Reports article but I'm going to try to find it. One of the ones the report criticizes, Muscle Milk, is one I like. The other one from Smoothie King isn't mentioned in the 3FC posting of the article.

I think I might try to get a little more sleep...have to take Kyra to the vet at 8AM.

BBL,
Rhonda

Vickie 08-19-2010 08:06 AM

Good Morning Chicks!

Yikes, Rhonda, you've been up since 4 am?!!! I hope you got to nap. I had a bad night myself. Cleaning lady is here. Thank God as the house gets dirtier now with the puppy. There's only so much I can do with the hernia and Jim with his bad shoulders. Is Kyra ok? I hope this is just a follow up.

I would love to go in the pool today but don't think I can. I'm pretty sure I aggravated the hernia again by getting in and out of the pool for 4 straight days last week. Oh well.

Tons to do. I'll be back later to check on everyone.

Tejas 08-19-2010 12:49 PM

Kyra is just fine, has been "released" by the vet.

I did get another hour's sleep, thank goodness.

beach bum 08-19-2010 01:43 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Suns out and it seems to be cooler today Was hoping to get out to do some walking before I go to my bible study class, but I got .Its going to be crowded up here & the vineyard especially now that the President it going to be here today for his vacation. Our town and Hyannis are the only towns on the south shore to have fairy service to the Island,so our PB club is not a good place to be tomorrow.

RHONDA-I'm happy again that I don't think I need the A/c today and hopefully not tonight when I go to bed.I love to open a window and have the fresh breeze coming in. Thanks I going to see what that thread of protein shakes is all about.I have a Soy protein powered that I like to use again.

SANDRA-I know, the south is getting higher temps than we have,I really feel sorry for all the people living in the south and the mid west with all those floods & tornadoes. Those are very scary to me.

Have to go,my friend Alice is going to be here soon for our daily outing.

Tejas 08-19-2010 03:22 PM

If you type "Muscle Milk recall" into Google, you will see reproductions of the Consumer Reports chart. It says that the testing is based on consuming 3 drinks a day, more than recommended by the manufacturer. I never drank that much of it. However, I won't be drinking it again.

There is also a GNC product on the chart.

Rhonda

ontarget 08-19-2010 05:55 PM

Hi there, Chickies. I have been mowing all afternoon--wore tall rubber boots cuz I saw a copperhead. Don't know where he is now. Just hope he's gone. I scared him when I screamed. Curtis hobbled outside but was too late. It was already gone.

We didn't sleep well last night either. Curtis was in pain, and I was awake with him. We're planning to take sleep aides early this evening.

Maryann, I envy your getting to sleep with open windows. And I know when you talk about it's being hot, you're right. When we were in Ohio, the heat was horrible what with the high humidity. I'm guessing your heat is the same way.

Rhonda, Mexican food sounds good. It's good we can splurge one meal then cut back on the next. Makes "it" doable, doesn't it?

Vickie, I hope you're feeling better and get to swim at least one more time this season.

Not much going on here. I'm OP. Ya'll have a great evening.

Tejas 08-19-2010 09:54 PM

ooh, Sandra, those copperheads are out and about. I haven't seen one, and don't want to.

I made whole wheat bread today because I am really tired of the really boring bread here. I don't eat much, so I want it to be good. We had grilled steak, potatoes and broccoli for dinner. I ate only 1/2 of my steak and just a dab of potatoes.

I hope you all have a good night.

Rhonda

nancy237 08-19-2010 10:24 PM

Rhonda we had steaks tonight also. We are heading to take my son to college in the morning.
I helped him pack a lot today and go through stuff that will go to Charity.
He just ran out to see a friend for a few minutes that will be going to Fla
for school.

Robin and I decided to stay near Charlotte in Concord for Friday night . I think dinner, a movie & shopping will help me get through Friday. They have an outlet mall and Bass Pro there. That is a huge outdoor equipment store .
It is helping so much to know we are not coming straight home Friday to this empty house. Another thing that is helping is that we sorta planned a trip to Charlotte in late Sept to take my grandson and go to the Imax there.

When we get back I am going to get very structured about my eating and exercising. The evenings will seem long without my son here so going to the gym in the evening will be good.

Vickie 08-20-2010 08:28 AM

Good Morning Chicks! I'm off to lots of activities today.

Nancy, I'm proud of you. Baby steps. Have you looked at tripadvisor.com? It has lots of good reviews. Also consider bedandbreakfast.com. There couldn't be a more romantic vacation and one doesn't have to go far from home.

Sandra and Rhonda.....you are doing fabulous. Sorry about Curtis' pain. Is he better today?

BBL.

beach bum 08-20-2010 09:03 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Went to the beach yesterday afternoon around 3 and stayed there until 7,right after went to PaPa GiNo's not for pizza but a super steak sub instead. CALORIES & LOTS OF CARBS,yikes what did I do.

SANDRA-When I posted to you earlier in the day, I spoke too soon the windows were open but than during the day after coming back from the beach, and Papa's I had to put the A/C on as the house was HOT.

RHONDA-Never heard of Muscle milk,I don't drink cows milk anymore I have Silk Soy Milk instead. It has the same amount of protein & calcium, I find it healthier, but that just me.

Have to get ready for today's activities, have a great day

ontarget 08-20-2010 03:41 PM

Hi there. Curtis' pain is better today. He's improving at a good rate. I went to the pain management specialist today who had me go in for an MRI. Didn't know you could get scheduled for one on short notice. Ill get results Tuesday.

We're keeping doctors in Mercedes or so it seems.

Steaks sound good. Curtis doesn't like them so I don't get one often. Didn't know there was anyone on earth who didn't like a good steak till I met Curtis.

Ya'll have a good afternoon.

Tejas 08-20-2010 09:20 PM

The operative word is "good" Sandra. I don't like steak either unless it is a really, really good (expensive cut) one.

We had grilled wild salmon, grilled veggies and salad tonight. That's a repeat from earlier this week. Very tasty.

Todd had me do one-legged squats today and I thought I'd die. I have a long way to go on that exercise.

Not much to report here. The heat index was 105F. Hot enough for 'ya?

beach bum 08-21-2010 08:18 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Went to the movies with my friend Mary to see Switched with Jennifer Aniston & Jason Bateman,we both enjoyed the movie and recommend it.We really wanted to see" Dinner for the Schmuck" but its not coming to our theater very disappointed as it suppose to be very funny. Than to the Flying Bridge Restaurant for a a scallop dinner.
Today is going to be another eventful day but in the afternoon as I have my laundry and some shopping for stables to get done this morning.

Have to get ready for today's chores, see you guys tomorow

Vickie 08-21-2010 08:53 AM

Good Morning Chicks! We left Brodie for the first time yesterday for the dog walkers to come and take care of him. All went well, but I was as bad as a brand new mother when I left him. I had 3/4 of a page of instructions!

Mary Ann, I want to see Switched but I don't know if we'll get to the show or not. I love Justin Long and also want to see the movie with him and Drew Barrymore. I think I'll skip the Schmucks movie as it it NOT my type of humor.

Sandra, I hope Curtis continues to improve quickly. I'm craving steak too. I may have a filet the next time I go to my favorite restaurant. I like filets and NY Strip the best. I haven't had much meat on JC.

Rhonda, I'd never be able to do what you are doing with my hiatel hernia. I could be walking though. I need to get to it!

Sloan, Nancy....what's planned for the weekend? Is Nancy on her trip now?

We went to the casino yesterday for our day trip and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Jim lost and I won; so it worked out!

ontarget 08-21-2010 05:11 PM

Vickie, a day at the casino sounds like fun. When are you going back on CORE? Do you have much longer on JC?

Maryann, sounds like you're having good times. Makes me smile.

We slept in till after 11:30 this AM. Felt really really good. I'm excited as my gf is coming out for us to do some shooting this PM. Life is good.

I'm OP.
