  • Hi there, Chickies. I have been mowing all afternoon--wore tall rubber boots cuz I saw a copperhead. Don't know where he is now. Just hope he's gone. I scared him when I screamed. Curtis hobbled outside but was too late. It was already gone.

We didn't sleep well last night either. Curtis was in pain, and I was awake with him. We're planning to take sleep aides early this evening.

Maryann, I envy your getting to sleep with open windows. And I know when you talk about it's being hot, you're right. When we were in Ohio, the heat was horrible what with the high humidity. I'm guessing your heat is the same way.

Rhonda, Mexican food sounds good. It's good we can splurge one meal then cut back on the next. Makes "it" doable, doesn't it?

Vickie, I hope you're feeling better and get to swim at least one more time this season.

Not much going on here. I'm OP. Ya'll have a great evening.
  • ooh, Sandra, those copperheads are out and about. I haven't seen one, and don't want to.

I made whole wheat bread today because I am really tired of the really boring bread here. I don't eat much, so I want it to be good. We had grilled steak, potatoes and broccoli for dinner. I ate only 1/2 of my steak and just a dab of potatoes.

I hope you all have a good night.

    Rhonda
  • Rhonda we had steaks tonight also. We are heading to take my son to college in the morning.
I helped him pack a lot today and go through stuff that will go to Charity.
He just ran out to see a friend for a few minutes that will be going to Fla
    for school.

Robin and I decided to stay near Charlotte in Concord for Friday night . I think dinner, a movie & shopping will help me get through Friday. They have an outlet mall and Bass Pro there. That is a huge outdoor equipment store .
It is helping so much to know we are not coming straight home Friday to this empty house. Another thing that is helping is that we sorta planned a trip to Charlotte in late Sept to take my grandson and go to the Imax there.

When we get back I am going to get very structured about my eating and exercising. The evenings will seem long without my son here so going to the gym in the evening will be good.
  • Good Morning Chicks! I'm off to lots of activities today.

Nancy, I'm proud of you. Baby steps. Have you looked at tripadvisor.com? It has lots of good reviews. Also consider bedandbreakfast.com. There couldn't be a more romantic vacation and one doesn't have to go far from home.

Sandra and Rhonda.....you are doing fabulous. Sorry about Curtis' pain. Is he better today?

    BBL.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Went to the beach yesterday afternoon around 3 and stayed there until 7,right after went to PaPa GiNo's not for pizza but a super steak sub instead. CALORIES & LOTS OF CARBS,yikes what did I do.

SANDRA-When I posted to you earlier in the day, I spoke too soon the windows were open but than during the day after coming back from the beach, and Papa's I had to put the A/C on as the house was HOT.

RHONDA-Never heard of Muscle milk,I don't drink cows milk anymore I have Silk Soy Milk instead. It has the same amount of protein & calcium, I find it healthier, but that just me.

Have to get ready for today's activities, have a great day
  • Hi there. Curtis' pain is better today. He's improving at a good rate. I went to the pain management specialist today who had me go in for an MRI. Didn't know you could get scheduled for one on short notice. Ill get results Tuesday.

We're keeping doctors in Mercedes or so it seems.

Steaks sound good. Curtis doesn't like them so I don't get one often. Didn't know there was anyone on earth who didn't like a good steak till I met Curtis.

    Ya'll have a good afternoon.
  • The operative word is "good" Sandra. I don't like steak either unless it is a really, really good (expensive cut) one.

We had grilled wild salmon, grilled veggies and salad tonight. That's a repeat from earlier this week. Very tasty.

Todd had me do one-legged squats today and I thought I'd die. I have a long way to go on that exercise.

Not much to report here. The heat index was 105F. Hot enough for 'ya?
  • Good Morning Ladies

Went to the movies with my friend Mary to see Switched with Jennifer Aniston & Jason Bateman,we both enjoyed the movie and recommend it.We really wanted to see" Dinner for the Schmuck" but its not coming to our theater very disappointed as it suppose to be very funny. Than to the Flying Bridge Restaurant for a a scallop dinner.
Today is going to be another eventful day but in the afternoon as I have my laundry and some shopping for stables to get done this morning.

Have to get ready for today's chores, see you guys tomorow
  • Good Morning Chicks! We left Brodie for the first time yesterday for the dog walkers to come and take care of him. All went well, but I was as bad as a brand new mother when I left him. I had 3/4 of a page of instructions!

Mary Ann, I want to see Switched but I don't know if we'll get to the show or not. I love Justin Long and also want to see the movie with him and Drew Barrymore. I think I'll skip the Schmucks movie as it it NOT my type of humor.

Sandra, I hope Curtis continues to improve quickly. I'm craving steak too. I may have a filet the next time I go to my favorite restaurant. I like filets and NY Strip the best. I haven't had much meat on JC.

Rhonda, I'd never be able to do what you are doing with my hiatel hernia. I could be walking though. I need to get to it!

Sloan, Nancy....what's planned for the weekend? Is Nancy on her trip now?

We went to the casino yesterday for our day trip and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Jim lost and I won; so it worked out!
  • Vickie, a day at the casino sounds like fun. When are you going back on CORE? Do you have much longer on JC?

Maryann, sounds like you're having good times. Makes me smile.

We slept in till after 11:30 this AM. Felt really really good. I'm excited as my gf is coming out for us to do some shooting this PM. Life is good.

    I'm OP.
  • Friday went great when we took my son to college.
We got there about noon, moved him in , did a Walmart trip for last minute things, had an early dinner with him and said our goodbyes..
His suite/room setup is nicer than when I was in college.

I stayed upbeat til the final goodbyes which allowed me to enjoy the time & experience.
Afterwards we went shopping and stayed at a luxury motel with a nice room service dinner & movie.
We are home tonight and its hard but I'll get through it.
  • Yes, Nancy, you will get through it. Your son is likely missing home also.

My day was busy with political stuff and the heat was awful. I also ate like a fool. Tomorrow is another day!
  • Good Morning Chicks! Happy Sunday.

Rhonda, sometimes your body just needs a break from healthy. I bet you didn't eat as bad of food as you used to eat.

Nancy, it will get better for sure, for all of you. Now you need to plan some fun things for you and Robin to do.

Brodie, Jim and I are going to meet some Scotties today. Details to follow! For now, I have to go get ready.
  • Hi Ladies

Went to brunch,my friend that fell was in church and than joined us for brunch. She's a little sore but she able to get around.TG that it wasn't as serious like we all thought it was. Now my other friend is going for contract surgery this Wednesday. There's always something when you hit a certain age.

I can't believe but is raining as I post, hope it stays that way the whole day to water my tomato plants.Still have a bunch of green one hanging on the bush.Think for next year I'm only going to buy the early girls and leave the big boys behind.

NANCY-Its always hard when children leave the nest either for college or getting married. You'll get used to it,as the ladies told you.

VICKIE-It was a very good movie,I cried at the end,as it was a happy ending.Going to look for another movie that my friend & I can see,she says it has to be HAPPY & FUNNY,but our theater doesn't show the new one until the end of the week.

SANDRA-Thanks,I'm blessed to have such wonderful friends, that half the battle to being happy, not negativity in my life anymore.

RHONDA-Sorry you had one of those days. I didn't do to good on Friday I have two dinners and in the evening for dessert a Mississippi Mudd Pie,and than I wonder why my weight is up.

Have a great afternoon going to watch the golf tournament at Wyndham, N.C.
  • Hi there. We are melting in the heat. Hopefully, we'll get rain by Friday. Tim will tell.

    Nancy, I'm sending you hugs.

Rhonda, Vickie is right. Just do some dusting. You're doing marvelously. Your body just probably needed to shake things up a bit.

    Sloan, where are you?

    Anyone heard from Angela?

Maryann, I had to toss our tomato plants. They couldn't take the heat.

    Have a good day, everyone.

    I'm OP.
