Oh Happy Birthday, Nancy! I'm SO sorry that I missed your post. I hope you had a wonderful day. Sorry that Robin is in pain. It's hard to be right when it causes someone you love pain. I just turned 54. It's a grand old age!

Brodie made the website of the owners of his Daddy Spencer. I stole Sandra's famous line and they liked it! http://woburnscottishterriers.com/v-...illow_May_2010

Rhonda, are you doing all the extras that are shown in the pamphlet? Call the Counselors. They are awesome and VERY helpful. Jim got extra carb, protein, and fruit servings. I'm guessing with the workouts you do, they'll say you get extras also. It's not good to be hungry and doesn't help one stick to a program.

I'm quite ashamed to admit that we succumbed to some stress eating last night. It was pan pizza and I ate two and a half pieces. I acknowledged that it was wrong and born of stress but I ate it anyway. All I can say for myself is that it wasn't mindless. More like calculated. I'm back on program today.

Sloan...
Thanks for keeping us posted..
Your parents sound like they had a great relationship. So few kids get to grow up with parents like that. My parents were a great example too. They spatted, but it was more funny than disturbing. Mom would get mad and dad would
tease and pester her til she started laughing ...
I never saw my dad mad..ever..Can you beleive that..
Maybe its selective memory but my brother says the same thing.
He stressed in lines and stuff but never mad..
Sorry, didn't mean to go on about my parents( I miss them so much)
Wish so much I could do something to help or say something to ease the pain.
But I know (from being in your shoes) that it just helps to know people care.
Thats all people can do...

If you have extended family there you don't see often ask them to share
childhood stories. Video them if they don't mind.. That is good medicine for them and you and grandkids later... We did that with some funny stories and my kids love them.. (of course you have to judge the mood and decide if its appropriate )
-------------------------------

I saw my doc today about the lump in my arm and he said it was a fatty
growth (lipnoma- or something like that) No worries ..I can have it
removed if I want to or just keep an eye on it.. I trust this doctor , so I am not going to worry about it..

Oh my, Sloan. I'm so sorry. But, what a lovely story about your parents. Mine were married for 54 years before my Daddy died. Well, I hope that your mother feels that she did the right thing by telling him that she would be OK. Let's hope that she will be. What a loss for her and for all of you. My father died over 30 years ago, and I can bring back that emotion without trying. I wish you all the best.

I just typed a long post but lost it in cyberspace.

Sloan, it sounds like your father went peacefully and is now in a better place--but it's still not easy for you to let him go. I am so sorry for your loss.

Vickie, I'm sorry you're under stress and hope all gets better soon. Brodie's photo is adorable. And his eyes? They match the pillow!

Rhonda, your body is telling you something. Be sure to call NS and tell them what's going on. How is Doyle doing? Is he being able to do NS?

Nancy, that's great news about your lump. Makes me smile.

Maryann, enjoy your cool temps.

I'm op.

Three of the four Light Poles are up and do they make the house look attractive. The neighbors will be please when they come down On Independence Day.

OH DEAR SLOAN=We must have posted at the same time I didn't see your post until now. I'm so sorry to hear about you dad. It brought tears to m y eyes Hope your mom will be ok,as the shock no matter how many years your married, can hurt badly. I'm sure you father was loved dearly by loved ones and his patients. Sending prayers and Hugs your way

VICKIE-Be care, that you don't over stress,by taking deep breaths,I sure everything in your life can be worked out. Thanks for sharing the pic of Brodie,he's such an adorable dogie. I didn't know you had a Scottie????They are such cuties.

NANCY-Happy to hear the lump under your arm is nothing to worry about. I had something like that also and it just disappeared. Your lucky to have a doctor that you can trust, lots of my friends don't have doctors like you & I.

SANDRA-The low temps are wonderful especially at night when sleeping the window is wide open for the gentle sea breeze. Still getting my a/c in this weekend for the full blunt of summer in JULY & AUG.

DH hates NS, by the way. I think that I need to do a much better job of preparing the side veggie dishes. I'll increase my efforts to bring some variety into the plan.

Off to run errands and to finish my stained glass project....

Sloan, I'm thinking of you and your family. :hugs:

Rhonda, Curtis doesn't like TV dinners no matter what the brand. I hope you can figure out a way for Doyle to like NS. I know that won't be easy to do; but if anyone can do it, it's you.

Maryann, I watered this AM. I also picked a few tomatoes. We'll probably have them at dinner tonight.

Vickie, I'm sending warm thoughts your way.

I have my appointment with the Pain Management specialist for later this month. Till then I've decided not to take pain meds (I have been taking Percocet for over a week now.) unless I really really need them. I don't like being "loopy."

I'm op.

Hey chicks, we buried my dad today. We had a very nice service where my sister gave a precious eulogy then at the graveside service, the funeral home surprised my mom with a beautiful caduceus (medical symbol) plaque on the vault. It was a special day, though it's just so hard to believe what we have been through over the last 10 days. Hopefully I will be back in the swing soon, but I know I'm going to be busy for the next few weeks. I will need to get rid of all of the food that people have showered on us over the last few days, so I can get back to core. I also plan to get back to walking, soon. I will try to get caught up on "chick news" so I can see what you all have been doing. Thanks again for all of your sweet notes and prayers!!!

Good Morning Ladies

Looks like a nice day for walking ,but I tied to the house waiting for the handy man to put my a/c in this morning and this afternoon I going with a friend to a movie to see The Karate Kid. Will go on my bike tonight, while watching one of my DVD.

RHONDA-Oh that's to bad that your DH doesn't like the N/S plan.I was thinking about trying the N/S or J/C plans, but now not only seeing here on this thread and other boards that I go to,I decided not to spend money and not like the foods.

SANDRA-That's great that you will partake of the tomatoes your planted to night. I don't have the flowers on my yet,as tomatoes LOVE HOT TEMPS and so far our JUNE is cool,so I think my early girls won't be out in July like they were supposed to.Have to wait for a Sept Harvest.

SLOANE-So Sorry to hear about your dad, just think hes in a better place,I know my Leo is.Its going to be hard on your mom,but it get better with time. You'll get back to the swing of things also, just take care of your mom & be there for her,as my two seem to forget about that. MY DD told me once that,if she doesn't call she can imagine that her father is still around, but whatever don't do that to your mom.

Have to go my handy man is going to come over and put my a/c in and than this afternoon I'm going to the movies.

My sweet cousin treated me to a birthday manicure and pedicure today.
We did hers and mine at the same time and then ate and went shopping.
This is the first time I have ever painted my toenails . What fun..
I am the one with jeans on in the picture. She had a hard time talking me into
doing this and I am so glad I did.
Notice my strange right little toe

Sloan, right now just do what you need to do to keep yourself strong. What a wonderful gesture for the funeral home to acknowledge your father. I know you are all proud--as you should be.

Maryann, I just picked a few small Roma tomatoes. Today I bought some large tomatoes for burgers.

I'm op.

Yes, that was nice gesture at the funeral home. I wish you all peace now.

Hey Nancy, I almost did that today but decided to wait until next week. All toes are funny to me! Really, this was your first time!? WHAT have you been doing with your time, girl?

Maryann, I think that NS is fine if you have no objection to prepared foods and will follow it. And, I don't think it is so expensive really. Also, nothing is wasted or thrown out.

DH really wants to go out, doesn't really want to do this and is resistant. BUT, he did say tonight that he liked the salisbury steak meal, and I've been a little better with preparing the vegetables. Tonight I melted light cheese with garlic on the broccoli and it was good. We did go out for lunch and had grilled chicken on top of salad, with lots of added veggies. We went to Fuddrucker's and their salad is pretty good.

'night all!

Hi Ladies

Helped a friend with her a garage sale this morning, and now I'm waiting for my handy man to deliver the gas to my house for the BBQ grill and show me how to ignite and use the grill for future BBQ's.

Couldn't believe a compliment some of friends told me this morning that I lost inches and I looked good, wish the scale would cooperate.

NANCY-Glad you enjoyed your birthday present from your cousin .Like the color of nail polish. Thanks for sharing the pix of your new pedicure.

SANDRA-I usually buy the tomatoes on the vine but our in the USA are small comparing from the ones that come from Canada. When I was over a my friends house I notice that her plants are so much bigger with blossoms than mine. We planted them the same time,so I confused why mine aren't growing as well as hers.

RHONDA-Thanks for clearing up the N/S for me,but I've already decided to cook my own meals ,watching the carbs and the most important portion control.
