New Pages for a new week. I did get the dates correct this week!:p

twestra 10-06-2008 12:21 PM

I posted this yesterday, in last weeks posts and didn't want you guys to miss it, so I reposted it in this weeks pages. Glad to be back!

Hi chickies! I'm back! I sort of fell of the wagon for awhile, but I'm back and ready to start losing again. I'm not exactly sure where I am, weight wise, but will find out exactly where I am on Wednesday when I go and wi. According to my scale, I gained about 7 pounds, from my lowest point, but only three pounds since my last wi. At least I realized my faults before I gained it all back!

I can really tell the difference of how I feel from when I was op. I don't feel all that great. I want to get back op and start feeling good again.

I went to the grocery store today and stocked up on core foods. I cooked up a storm as well. I made core chili, 3 batches of the cold strawberry soup(I use it as a drink), 4 batches of cottage cheese oatmeal blueberry pancakes and some tomato and bulgar(not sure where I got the recipe). I also made a lean roast and had that with carrots and mashed potatos for dinner. Got in all my water today, all my milk, just lacking a few fruits or veggies so I'll probably make a smoothie and add my oil to it.

I missed you all! But I'm back to stay and ready to get back op and start eating good food again.

I changed my ticker to what my scale says, but it's not exact and won't be until I go to ww on Wednesday.

I've been MIA as well. I fell off the wagon, but didn't hit too hard. We moved our office and warehouse, and that has kept me pretty busy. I got loads of activity points, but ate horribly.

Quick question - Can you freeze the cottage cheese pancake batter?

Hoping to see more (and less ;) ) of everyone!

Hi Ladies:)

Nothing new, except I was off the wall in eating yesterday I had too many WPA's and not a good sign for Thursdays W-I.

I'm thinking that the weather is getting cool now and the old stand by comfort foods are going to haunt me,especially the grain carbs. So far I kept away from them having starchy veggies instead, but how long will I have the :dust:

TRACIE-Welcome back, I missed you,and your posts.I was wondering what happened to you,as I didn't see any posts that your were away on vacation. We all have days or weeks like that we have to recharge..You see your doing great getting back on the core plan again. I 'm sure you lose when you go back to the meeting and weigh in.

AMY-Glad that you found the way back also. I don;'t think you can freeze cottage cheese pancakes,as they would be watery when defrosted.

Have a great afternoon

Hugs :)

I fell off the wagon as well. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one :) I weighed in on Saturday and gained a pound. On a positive note I'm still in the 170's :) I've done well so far and I'm hoping to have at least lost 1 or 2 when I weigh in on Friday. My birthday is next week and I know I'm going to struggle... cake, trips to the bar... any suggestions? I will need to workout like a mad woman next week!

Amy- Do you have the recipe for cottege cheese pancakes? I lost the recipe :(

Hope everyone is off to a great week!

I wonder if anyone's been on the wagon. I surely haven't. We need more :dust: for sure.

At least we aren't giving up. We're "Steel Magnolia Chickies."

twestra 10-06-2008 10:39 PM

Amy, you can't freeze the pancake batter, but I make the pancakes and freeze them, two to a bag. This makes it easy in the morning. I can just microwave a few and they are still very good.

Sammie, the pancake recipe is as follows-I make it with the splenda as the sweetener, I don't use the banana but add about 1/3 cup frozen blueberries.

COTTAGE CHEESE OATMEAL PANCAKES
This one is really delicious, especially with the addition of the recommended ingredients.

2-3 beaten eggs (or egg substitute)
1 cup quaker oats
1 cup cottage cheese
Honey or a couple of teaspoons of sugar, to taste (a banana will make it naturally sweeter) OR 2-3 packs Splenda (I used 6 packs of Splenda,I have a HUGE sweet tooth)
1 tsp of baking powder

Optional, highly recommended ingredients:
banana
a sprinkle of cinnamon
a splash of vanilla
blueberries

Grab your handy blender and dump the ingredients in, in the order they appear (otherwise the mixture will get all chunky). So, eggs in first, then start the blender. As it's blending, pour in the oats, then the banana if you're using it, then whatever sweeteners and spices you like, then the cottage cheese. Once this is nicely blended, cook as you would pancakes, in a nonstick pan over medium-low heat. I love these plain or with fruit, but you can put syrup on them too, just like regular pancakes.

BB, thanks for the welcome back, I missed you too!

Sandra, we need to all get back op.

You're right, Tracie. Good success to all of us.

I go to wi in the AM. I'll be here to report no matter what.

TechAlum 10-07-2008 08:29 AM

Morning Everyone,

Well I did pretty well on Sunday. I made our "big" meal for mid-day and then made soup and rolls for me for dinner, the rolls were really good but I knew they could be trouble, so I put the majority in the freezer to make it more difficult to eat them all. But then.... Sun morning early dh had had diarrhea, so we checked the diet and added the stuff they said to have to stop it. But by 10 pm he had drank lots of water but was still feeling light headed so we headed in to emergency. They gave him iv fluids and then kept him overnight for observation, I came home (at 2am) and got a good (if short) nights sleep. I went back in the morning to pick him up, and they said the colo-rectal team at the main hospital wanted to look at him so they were transferring him downtown. To make a long story slightly shorter, we spent all day yesterday at the hospital and my eating was not the best. Plus I didn't get to exercise, and was hoping to go back to yoga last night....

Today will be better tho....

Tracie - Welcome back! I was just thinking about you and wondering where you went.

Vicki - I've been wondering about you too, are you reading but not posting?

Sloan - Had lots of time to knit yesterday :D In class Sat, I did the heel back but when it came time to turn, class was just about over, so I asked if I could still finish if I waited and she said yes. So I put it on holders and have been working on the cuff of the second one. Maybe I'll get them both done by my birthday (the class and supplies were my birthday present).

Here's some :dust: for us all :D.

Gotta go.

-Tech :tired:

ps Does anyone want a 14 yo golden retriever? Because of his arthritis he doesn't like stairs, so lately he's taken to standing at the bottom and making this high pitched bark to get us to come to the same floor he is. It's giving me a major head ache:headache:

beach bum 10-07-2008 10:53 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Nothing new, going to hang around the house until its time to head out for the chemo center.

We have another cold morning, going to take the bedroom a/c out as the wind is coming right though the open spaces.

SAMMI-Sorry:sorry: about your pound but I think it has a lot to do with the weather, lot of us when it gets cold start looking for comfort foods & some of them are high in calories.Hear :dust: and [[[[good vibes]]]] for your next W-I.

SANDRA-I'm back now, but over the weekend The wagon just lost all of the front wheels, and I went tumbling off.

TRACIE-Did know that you could freeze pancakes I make them and than store them in the refrg. Thanks:thanks: for letting us know that pancakes can be frozen.

DONNAOH POOR DONNA you have been going though so much, send extra prayers your way,as the care taker I know what your going though. Try the best you can today and thought the rest of this week. You're DH is still on my prayer list and will continue that way until is recovered.Sorry :sorry: Donna we're not dog lovers, and we don't need extra work now that Leo is still going to the cancer center.Hope you find a loving home for him

Hugs :)

ontarget 10-07-2008 12:08 PM

Donna, I can't imagine the stress you both are having.

Maryann, I'm back on the wagon now, too. It feels better to be riding than to be run over, doesn't it?

I went to wi this AM and lost 1.2 lbs. I feel like this is a major accomplishment. I broke my old pattern of rejoin, big loss, gain, quit. Instead of "quit" I had another loss. Life is good.

TechAlum 10-07-2008 01:35 PM

Sandra - Congratulations :D :D

blessedwithsarah 10-07-2008 01:44 PM

Hi everyone. Its been a busy day for me -- dd had a dentist appt, then after I dropped her at school went grocery shopping, home and put it all away, then took a 45 minute walk then to an eye appt. I'm not cooking polenta chips, have a froufy roast ready to go and will also cook some cottage cheese pancackes. Then out at 3:30 to meet the bus! My eating has been good these past few days, wi is tomorrow. My only concern is tom is looming. But I will go, no matter what.

Sandra, congrats on the loss! Keep it going.

Tech, I hope dh is doing better today. Did the team find anything? As far as the lab - we have an 11 year old chocolate who is now offically an old man! I do still walk him nightly - his hips aren't that bad yet, but he does have his sore days. Don't we all??

Welcome back Tracie, Amy and Sammi!!! Glad to have you all posting again.

got to check the oven. BBL

ontarget 10-07-2008 09:08 PM

Paula, you did have a busy day. I couldn't keep up with you.

Curtis and I will be working in the yard again tomorrow. We're wanting to "spruce up" the place before Rhonda and Doyle get here Friday. You know how it is. We have been intending to do all this ever since we got home from Montana but are just now getting it all done.

DanSinDeva 10-07-2008 10:42 PM

Hi Everyone!

Ok, so I'm bad at posting, I love reading all your posts though, they are very supportive, and is why I wanted to join in! We had a bad weekend, but are back full force. We don't normally use any of our weekley points until the weekend, and have been in the gym everyday except Friday and Sunday. Normally I do 4 exercises on one muscle 4 sets of 12, and then 20 minute cardio. The BF played hookie yesterday, so I pushed myself to go to the gym by myself, YAY! I only did 30 min on the elpitical, but I was having a blah day, and man did that turn my attitude around. My school work is starting to get harder as we work towards midterms, so I'm pretty busy with that all night, if i can't get any in during work.

Good luck to you all getting back on the wagon! We all have our moments when we need a break, or get bored, that is why I'm obsessed with the recipes here, they sure do help you come up with great ideas on eating something different through out the month. I am a habitual eater for lunches, so I need something different for dinners!

Happy early Birthday Sammi! I know that will be tough!! The only thing I can suggest as a newbie (meaning me), is to SAVE your points for the trip to the bar & cake! We're both party animals and drink wine almost every night, so we don't eat anything that isn't core, I know its probably not the best way to use your points, but with added points to use on a daily basis, with working out, you shouldn't go too over your points! Sacrifice for Party time! hahaha

Anyway, happy new week! Talk to you all soon!
Steph
