Hi chickies, just a quick post to say hi and I stayed op today and have been doing well.

A girl at work gave me an idea for a veggie dip. You take ff cottage cheese(1 small container-16oz?) 1/2 packet of hidden valley ff ranch dip(I'm sure the hidden valley ff dressing packet would work well too) and about 1/4 to 1/3 cup ff bottled kraft zesty italian and about 1/8 cup water. Blend in a blender until smooth. It's really good. I made some tonight. She told me just to use the hidden valley packet and the ff cottage cheese, but it was missing something. I added the ff zesty italian and it tasted a lot better to me.

Anyway, I was supposed to wi tomorrow but we are taking my father out right after work, so I will have to wi on Thursday. Oh well, it gives me 1 more day to lose a little. Probably won't make much difference.

Tracie, the dip sounds good. Question on the cottage cheese pancakes -- I made them yesterday and they are very good. I have 5 packages in the freezer. Did you mix the blue berries in the blender (so they were squished up) or did you put the berries on the pancakes as they cooked? I put them on and they didn't do so well -- the batter wasn't thick enough to get around the berries and most of them fell out. I made 1/2 that way and 1/2 plain. Just wondering how you did it.

WI is today, I should be down a couple of pounds. I'll be happy with any loss. Gets me closer to goal.

Steph and Sammi -- I also use my points for wine. I do enjoy a glass at night. For going out --- try mixed drinks, vodka or run with diet soda or soda water. Or there is a few one point beers out if you prefer beer. Be sure to have a large glass of water with you at all times. I find having water to drink slows the alcohol drinks down. Good luck!

Well, got to get moving. BBL

Good Morning All,

It's a drab, rainy day here in SE Mich. And the weather is changing so I have a sinus headache. The rains supposed to move out by noon so hopefully my headache will follow. Built the first fire in the fireplace last night, used wood we'd brought back from camping, so it burned really well. Fire building is usually DH's job, but he can't get down that low right now so I got to do it :) He's doing better, his appetite is finally starting to come back, so it's not as hard to get him to eat and drink, which is nice. Tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny so maybe I'll drag him for a walk (down to the corner and back), they want him to "ambulate". As weird as it is to sleep in different beds I think my sleeping in the sewing room helps us both sleep better, which puts us in better moods. Of course a real bed not air mattress and sleeping bag would help me more, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

Paula - I also have a 9 yo black lab mix (we're not sure mixed with what he came from the shelter) he's going white in the face and would be considered an old man but the other one is older. I took him for a walk yesterday, I really need to do it more.

Maryanne - how did the treatment go? Not really getting rid of DH's dog (he had the golden I had the lab when we got married), he's just one more thing for me to have to care for around here. At least the cat's self sufficient.

Sandra - have fun outside! I need to get the garden out, maybe tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny and warm.

Steph - I use most of my extra pts on wine also. But I've found if I cut back to only a couple of times a week I do much better. Yea to you on going to the gym by yourself. I need to get there myself.

Sammi - sorry about the gain. Hang in there you've been doing great. Any snow yet? It always snowed by my birthday although it didn't stay until Halloween.

Well I should get moving for the day. Have a great one.

Hey!

I am back here again! And am trying to go strong without getting too discouraged! I made a new thread and maybe should have just posted here. It is regarding surgery and weight loss afterwards!

We have Thanksgiving coming up this weekend here and I already have my Core Pumpkin pie recipe out. I gave up eating white flour 2 weeks ago as well, and you know my tummy feels lots better for it too! And the sugar cravings are going down. Sometimes I am not even hungry----figure that out!

Anyway, just saying hi and I want to post here at least 1 time a day to help keep me on track!

HAPPY HAPPY! Went to wi -- down 3.2!!!

Hi there
Hope everyone is doing ok.
My back has been bothering me since last week. Finally able to sit here. But wont be long.
Will have to go and read the post.
It is a rainy dreary day here.
I think the last time I was on here.
I asked about a cinnamon apple recipe. Well. Heres how I ended up doing my apples. I sliced them. Then add very few raisins. and then I added cinnamon and some splenda brown sugar. Then just baked them until done. Wasnt too bad.
Well ladies. I am going to get off here for now.
Will try and check in later.
Have a wonderful day everyone.
Thinking of each of you.
coco
P.S. I lost 1/2 a pound on Monday.

Hi! May I join you? Just started Core a few days ago online. I printed out all the lists and some recipes and plan on cancelling my ww membership to go it alone - too expensive to shell out every month. Am I the only one to do this?

I have already lost quite a bit of weight by eating not very much at all (called a calorie-controlled diet) and am apprehensive about Core - I seem to be eating loads! No hunger - great - but still get urges to eat naughty things - mind you those urges are not related to hunger anyway so I shouldn't be surprised. Can't believe I will really lose weight this way?

Good afternoon lovelies!

Thank you all for the support! It's rough being 400 miles away from home and surrounded by people who don't support your lifestyle change or just don't care about their habits.

Tech- I think I heard someone talking the other day about how they were hunting and they fell asleep and was woken up by bits of snow @ like 3am ha only in the U.P. :)

Steph- I think I'm going to do that but instead of working out once a day I'll do twice a day for a few days :)

Paula, after I take the batter out of the blender, I mix in the blueberries. I usually make 4 batches, but one batch at a time in the blender. So I make a batch, put in a bowl, add blueberries and mix in. Make another batch, put in the bowl, and mix in more blueberries. Works great! Also, Congratulations on your loss!!! 3.2 pounds is GREAT!!!:carrot::carrot::carrot:

:welcome3: Puffin. We'd love to have you join our group!!

Getting ready to take my father out for dinner, I will BBL.

Puffin- 62 pounds lost?? That's amazing! That's like right where I need to be! How long did it take you? Can you share any tips? I'm struggling.

Hi there! Sammi - no special tips -I have been counting calories I'm afraid and exercising- the old-fashioned way - about 800 calories per day. I'm feeling very anxious now about giving it up as I still have a fair bit to lose but I'm fed up with weighing and measuring everything. At least I don't appear to have put on anything after swtching to Core - had a sneaky peek at the scales this morning after 5 days on Core and I am 0.2lb less than my last weigh-in. Fingers crossed! Have a good day today everyone!

blessedwithsarah 10-09-2008 09:00 AM

Good morning everyone. Not much going on here -- work, work, work. The weather is a bit gloomy this morning, but is supposed to clear out and be rather nice today and through the weekend. I have a family wedding on sunday which should be a lot of fun. I took Monday off (not a holiday for work). So, I'll have a nice long weekend.

Puffin, welcome to the board and congrats on the loss. 800 calories a day seems very low to me -- you may find you're eating more and still losing on Core. The thing I love about core is that its taught me how to eat healthy, rather than a stop-gap measure to lose weight. I've gotten rid of all the white bread, pasta and rice in my house and cook in a more healthy way. I would suggesting trying it for a few weeks or a month to really see if this way of living works for you. Good luck.

Tracie - I think my problem with the blueberries is that I put them on the pancakes frozen -- which I normally do. But the batter was too light to hold them up. Of course these are the huge ones I picked in July. I'll keep trying!

Well, got to go. BBL

Hi Ladies:)

Well today,at my meeting I got on the scale and MAINTAINED . I guess the bod is resting after a 3 lb lose in the last couple of weeks.

Decided to quit and do the core on my own.DH didn't want me to renew my monthly pass. Plus it getting crazy right now with Leo chemo schedules, can't get to the meeting like I used to. So tomorrow I'm doing it on my own going in very carefully with the carbs, espeically with the grain ones.

Going to make this fast as I have a appointment with the Orthrpectic doctor this afternoon about my hurting shoulder. I hope it just a pulled muscle and not rotary cuff tendinitis again.

SANDRA-Congrats:congrat: on your 1.2 weight loss you're doing great after getting back on the wagon.

DONNA-The treat went fine but they found out that Leo's red blood cells are very very low so now we have to go for transfusion treatment also. That the reason I can't go to meeting anymore until the treatments are finished.

PAULA-Congrats :congrat: to you also losing your 3.2 Gee you all doing fantastic.

COCO-Congrats:congrat: on your 1/2 lb every bit counts. I was Happy to maintain.

PUFFIN-Welcome:welcome2: to the board. It looks like a whole bunch of food just remember PORTION sizes and it will work for you.

Have a great day see you guys tomorrow

Hugs :)

Happy Thursday! I love Thursday, because I get to work from home on Fridays! Got a lot of homework done last night, and hope to get the rest done tonight. The BF leaves this weekend on a business trip and I'll be alone for 4 days, with nothing but Core eyes! haha, The gym will be the toughest, but I drive by on the way home, so its dumb if I don't go! I'll be going again today by myself, but I wi tomorrow, so there's my motivation!

Paula - Congrats on the WL!!! 3.2 is fantastic! Also, good tip with the drinking water with alcohol. Keeps you sober and full equalling less alcohol and a safe trip home!

Sarah - Way to break your old habit! I know I'll have issues when I reach a peak. 1.2 isn't bad for a week! Love your riding and not being run over comment too!

Frannie - Good Luck with Thanksgiving! The BF and I were just talking about this up and coming hurdle we'll face. I have faith though, I am addicted to core, and HATE gravy anyways. Dressing is going to be the hard part, I'm sure I'll use points, and have at least a taste! The sweets I can definitely pass on, I convinced myself long ago that I don't like pie or cake! (its ok to lie to yourself on that, right?)

Puffin - Welcome! I am about a month into Core, workout 5 days a week and I'm down 5.2 lbs. I gained the 1st week, but I've been an inactive person for almost 2 years now. The weekends are the hardest part, and I'm sure I've cheated a little bit, but 5.2lbs has impressed me. I am sure after a month, you will know if you like. I feel like I eat a ton of food too because I eat like every 2 hours, but nothing huge, and only to maintain my hunger levels. Good Luck!

Have a good day Cheeckas! BTW, I'm infatuated with the exclamation point...

Hey chicks!
It seems like a year since I was able to check up on everyone. I have been out of school since last Wednesday, and since we still do not have internet at home, I've been out of touch.

I've been very busy. Last week at school was homecoming week, and on Thurs and Fri I was at a conference for health science teachers. We learned how to make "fake" injuries for disaster drills. It was awesome!

On Monday this week, my dh had surgery on his shoulder. Two major rotator cuff tears, a completely torn bicep tendon, and bone spurs. Needless to say, it has been very hard on him. LOTS OF PAIN Hopefully he will start feeling better soon.

When I came to school for parent/teacher conferences this afternoon, I weighed. The last time I weighed at school it was in the morning, with clothes and shoes, and I weighed 133. This afternoon, wearing almost the identical outfit and shoes, I weighed 130. I'm happy to see that, because as you all know, I've been playing with the same 3 pounds for about 2 months. Maybe this is the start of a trend!!!

I've skimmed over some of the posts, and I see we have added some new chicks. Welcome everyone!!!

I can't speak to everyone, because I've got some catching up to do while I'm here today. I won't be back at school until next Tuesday (fall break), so I'll post again at that time. Hope you all are doing well. I'm constantly thinkin' about you all!!
