Maryann, guess I'll be the weedkeeper. Actually, I love working in the yard. Guess I inherited that from my grandmother. I didn't watch my salt intake at all. I also ate large servings. Today's been better. Thank you for mentioning salt. I hadn't paid any attention to it at all but will now.

Paula, I've just been journaling here. This week I'm doing better at keeping track of my WPA's. Your lunch sounds yummy. And ww pasta! That's wonderful.

Just updating my menu planner from yesterday using the etools. For those wine drinkers -- 1 glass is 2 pts, but 2 glasses is 3.5. For each additional glass the pts are 1.5........ Good to know!

Well, I think I lost about 2 pds this week. I'm not going to update my ticker until I have an official wi next week, but I am going to write down what the scale said this morning.

Gotta run..

Hi Everyone,

Just popping in really quick before I get some stuff done and head into the hospital. DH seems to be doing better, with a few exceptions (ie he can't pee and the wound is draining puss). He's getting around better and finally eating something. We still haven't seen the surgeon, just the resident and fellow and we have no idea when their planning on sending him home or what's going on. I'm going to call the dr's office when I get done here and try to nail down a time for them to come meet with us because it's been 7 days and this is ridiculous. Hopefully I don't loose my temper and make things worse.

Sorry I'm venting, but I figure I need to get it out of my system before I call them. :^:

WW wise things have been so-so. Not as bad as I thought but not as good as last week. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Sorry again.
Have a great day everyone.

Thanks for the warm welcome .

Yesterday I did my grocery shopping and am on program this morning. I'm heading down for lunch now which is soup that I make at home and freeze. That will curb my stomach growling for now. I have such trouble with lunch. I've never been a sandwich person, and really enjoy a "meal". The trouble is that I cook every meal for my family (breakfast, lunch AND dinner). Doing something for lunch for myself gets overwhelming and I get discouraged. So what happens...I put it off and then before I know it...I'm STARVING!

I am going to my Friday meeting, but won't weigh-in. That is for my personal psyche. It helps keep me motivated to work hard the coming week. I know being on business left me with some poor choices and needing the additional time to get my kitchen back in order also lends itself to poor choices. So, by going to the meeting and not weighing in, my mental state stays intact and I can remain motivated.

Maryann - What is Wendie Plan?

beach bum 10-01-2008 03:55 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Got a late start again this morning, but I did manage to go walking along the beach.Love:love: it when it just me an the gulls around with the sound:listen: of the surf hitting the rocks along the shore. What more can you have.

COCO-Usually I take a book or something to keep me occupied, but we thought that it was a 1/2 hrs treatment but it was longer as we had a rest period the week before. The soup that I told you about is called Campbell's Select Harvest The Light version has 0 WW Point value [because it has 50 cal. per cup],on the Italian-style vegetable soup.Leo's lite Maryland-style crab soup is 1 point value as its 80cal per cup. What we like about the soups the sodium is is only 490 compare to others company's where theres 780 mg.

PAULA-Thanks:thanks: for your prayers & good thoughts. Leo last chemo treatment is gong to be sometime after his cat scan Oct 14th. Hopefully the cancer is gone by then Crossing :crossed:my fingers and saying lots of prayers, thats the case. Big Congrats:carrot: on your 2 lb weight loss. According to my scale I lost 2 lbs also but I'll make sure at tomorrow's W-I.

SANDRA-See I just the opposite I hate weeding and my periwinkle ground cover chokes most of the weeds as they are crawlers. I also have Rosa Rogosas that like to crawl around my bushes bit I do keep an eye on them as they really like to take over.

My BIG BIG problem with weight loss is the sodium I try to buy no salt canned veggies & soups other wise I blow up like blimp.

DONNA-VENT:tantrum: ALL YOU WANT,you're among friends. Sending some more[[[[ prayers]]]] that you get an answer from the doctor real soon.Hope you DH is not in pain, isn't there something they can do,to give him fluid to make him urinate.

CUBA-Thats wonderful that your cook for your whole family but NONO:no: you must be able to cook for yourself also.Don't skip meals as that only makes you hunger the next meal or even before the meals. You must take time for yourself to succeed on any program. Why don't you want to W-I while you at your meeting????

The Wendie plan follows the point system of WW flex plan. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Have a great afternoon.

Hugs :)

Hi CoCo!

I'm new here, just posted my COREporate profile. Looking forward to talking with everyone!

Anywho...My DB eats the Zero Point Progresso Soups all the time, and has now got me eating them for lunch! We wonder about them all the time. Some of them have pasta in it, but its zero points, so we eat or Carb at night after the gym. We can't figure out if they are core or not. Please let me know if you find out!

Thanks!
Steph

Hi there. We're staying home to celebrate Curtis' birthday. I made him an "almost" core coconut pie. I used sf/ff van pudding but added coconut and a pie shell. We could have done worse. We were talking about that cake we gave away. We're still glad we did.

:welcome: Steph.

Maryann, I'm going to go google Rosa Rogosas. I'm wondering if they'd survive the Texas heat.

blessedwithsarah 10-01-2008 07:37 PM

Steph, check the serving sizes. It may be 0 for one serving but a can is 2 servings. It may be a point or two.

Cuba, I cook on Sunday and have my lunches ready for the week. I generally have a few in the freezer to grab. Some thing I like to have that freeze well are pasta and veggie/sauce dishes, home made core soups, salsa chicken, smothered chicken and barley. Check out the core recipes here. There are quite a few things you could prepare and put into containers for the week. I'm assuming you have access to a microwave. If not, try some cold core salads --- pasta salads, coleslaws, couscouse type things. This week I'm eating canned soups with a cold couscous salad. For soup, as long as it not cream based without pasta it should be core. Check the ingredients. But you safe with lentil, barley and veggie type canned soups.

Not much time to post right now, bbl.

Here I come, Sandra, ready or not!

Hi Ladies:)

Lost :carrot:2-lbs at W-I :carrot:this morning. Was so happy to see the scale moving downward again. I think for now on I'm going to keep my grain carbs low.Even though I was on the Wendie plan for one week,I'm going back to core but like I said before going to eat my grain carbs to a minimum.

SANDRA-I don't know if the Rosa Rogosas will grow of Texas. I think that like cool weather,as they grown like weeds along the beaches.Belated Happy :woo:Birthday to Curtis,So you went on the flex plan having coconut pie,you go back to the core today and you'll be fine.

STEPH-Welcome:welcome2: to the board. I like Progresso soup but find they have to much sodium in a cup of soup.I have to watch my sodium intake so thats the reason I switched to Campbell's Select harvest. I think they're allowed on the flex plan not to sure about the core.

PAULA- have a nice day,we look like were going to get showers as the dark clouds are passing by making the very dark outside. We had down pours this morning.

RHONDA-Have a safe:yes: trip,and enjoy each others company. The cousins are re uniting,OHNO!! are our ears:listen: going to burn,talking about us????:D:D Have a wonderful time,you two.enjoy

Hugs :)

Maryann, I think you're right about them. What I found on the net indicated they would not do well in Zone 8. What Zone are you living in?

Congragulations!! :woohoo: :woohoo: That's a fantastic loss. You're on your way now for sure.

The guys are here today spreading topsoil as well as gravel. Our place is shaping up. We're working hard to make it look as good as possible for when Rhonda and Doyle get here next week. The condo is ready for them--and so are we. Definitely!!

TechAlum 10-03-2008 08:09 AM

Good Morning,

Well DH came home yesterday and I'm now sure why I went to engineering school not nursing. Actually it's not to bad. I think it's way worse than he thought it was going to be, but I was around when my mom had her hysterectomy and knew abdominal surgery is a b***h to recover from. His brother is supposed to come so I can go to WW and run some errands. He's a nurse part time and a firefighter, so I'm hoping he'll help DH shower and then repack his dressings.

On a good note even thou I fell off the wagon the latter half of this week, when I weighed in this morning I'm down 2 lbs (I've been tracking my scale on these boards, ww's is usually the same just 1 lb higher than mine). I guess stress is a good calorie burner :^:

Maryanne - Looks like I'm going to be eating like you, with my big meal mid day. At least as long as he has the ostomy. They recommend that to help keep the bag emptier at night. As for peeing, it's apparently a problem with the bladder nerves and not uncommon with this type of surgery. The dr says that in all the cases he's done it's never been permanent, so we're just in a waiting game right now, while he wears another bag.

Sandra - have fun with Rhonda :D :D :D I'll be joining you back on the menu page next week. Although I'm going to have to do something I swore I'd never do, cook 2 meals. At least the starch, they don't want dh eating whole grains for a while until the ostomy settles.

Sloan - I've finished the cuff on the first sock and started the second while I wait for class to learn the next step. It's pretty fun and gave my hands something to do this last week at the hospital. It also drew a lot of attention apparently not to many visitors knit there.

Paula - Congrats on those unofficial 2 lbs. Hope your offsite meeting went well.

Rhonda - you probably won't see this but have a great trip.

Cuba and Steph - Welcome!!!!

Well I should go get ready for the day.

Have a great one everyone.

Good Morning Ladies:)

Nothing new, I going to see if I can get some walking done today. Was up late last night and I lacking my ZZZZZ's again. So maybe the fresh sea air will wake me up.

SANDRA-I have no idea what zone I'm in,but Leo thinks that we are in zone 6 or 7. Thanks for the congrats I guess I found what I have to do by watching my grain carb intake.

DONNA-Glad to know that your BIL is stopping over to give you a break. You need to take care of yourself also.Big Congrats :carrot: on your 2 lb loss:carrot: thats fantastic after all you went though. I find that eating my big meal at noon helps me with the full feeling at night time, and I think it much healthier, having a empty stomach as night. I'm sure your doctor is correct saying that the frequent urination will reside,so don't worry about that OK. Take care, still praying your you guys

Hugs :)
