Core Chat - Sept 15-21
New pages for a new week:devil:

Hi everyone - what a busy weekend. I need to go back and read the posts since Friday. After a busy Saturday yesterday was just as busy. We went to church in the morning, came home, got a quick snack and dd and I headed to a bridal shower. It was at 12:30 about 45 minutes away, but I had to pick up mom first. We got there on time, the bride was late. She did not show up until 1:30. By the time she finished opening everything and we left it was about 3:45. Got back home at 4:30, then we went out to dinner. Foodwise, I was off. The shower was at a chinese restaruant -- which was very good but far from core. Oh well, today is a new day.
The good news - my scale is down!! I didn't do a wi on Friday since ww at work is starting on Wed. But I got on this morning and its down about 1.5. I'm happy. I think my wi on Wed won't be as horrible as I was thinking. Hope everyone is doing well. I'll bbl once I catch up. |
Hello Ladies :)
I haven't been on here for a week - 'been kind-of in a funk but hopefully I'll come out of it soon - I had a good night's sleep last night & one more in a row should do it (my hubby's a night owl, so lately, bedtime's been 12:30 and wake up at 6:00 - not enough for me!) Anyways, I intend to have a good day today & track my food intake. 'been reading the posts & I'm glad for the good news Vickie  I'm sure you sighed a big relief when you found out eh! Weather here's a bit dreary, but I put a heater on with a fuzzy blanket & coffee - can't help but look outside at the trees swaying in the wind & daydream :) I hope everyone has a great day! Cheers, /cheryl |

Vickie - glad the tests showed everything normal. Thats a good thing. How is the flooding in your area? Saw pictures on the news today, not good.
Maryann - how is Leo doing? I hope well. As for points, I try not to use them. I disagree with what your leader said about needing to use them. With the core food list, there is nothing missing that would require you to use them. I think telling members to plan on using them sort of defeats the purpose of core. I've always used them as needed without really planning. I try not to use any if I can -- but unless wine becomes a fruit :) Barbi - Welcome to the board! Sandra - are you home yet? Where are you in Texas? I hope Ike did not do too much damage in your area. Does anyone remember where Kathy lived? I hope she is well also. Tracie - Welcome back! Hope you are getting back on track. Rhonda - HI! Someday your goddaughter could be a big star! Well, got to run. BBL |
Good Morning All,
Well it was a crappy weekend for camping, but at least it was warmer than last year (they had frost warnings at night and we tent camp w/o a heater). Friday my sister worked half a day so we left in the afternoon, I missed a detour sign and we ended up taking the longer route and got to the campground at dusk, it's been a while since I set up camp in the dark. We decided to go back to town for dinner instead of cooking, because it was dark/cold and I was cranky/hungry, I did pretty well I ordered broiled whitefish and a baked potato and salad, core if you don't count the sour cream and wine :o. Saturday morning was the bike ride. Due to a mix up with my sister about picking me back up, I ended up adding 5 miles to the 23 I'd already ridden, I was not a happy camper (no pun intended). We went back to the campsite and were just going to hang out but it started to rain and rained all afternoon. We did cook dinner and then went to town for the Semi-Truck Light and Horn Parade. I think I lost several layers of my eardrums, have to remember earplugs next time, it was fun tho even if we were standing in the rain (just a drizzle). When we got back to the campsite at 9:45 my sister had to have a campfire because its not camping w/o a fire, I think she's related to our mom, oh wait that's kind of a given isn't it. Anyway, we sat around the fire for a few of hours then it started raining again so we called it a night. Yesterday we packed up and then went to this Polish restaurant I'd been to once before, and headed home. I didn't ride the bridge again, it was really windy I'm not even sure they went, they'll call the ride for wind, but I decided not to anyway, next year (I think I said that last year). OK now that you know way more than you wanted I'll move on..... Tracie - I live in Dearborn, I don't think you've asked that before. Rhonda - How cool I bet you had a good time. Paula - congrats on the unofficial loss :D Sandra - you had me googling GERD. I have it too all tho my dr. just called it acid reflux disease. I keep hoping it'll be better w/weight loss but every time I try to stop taking the med it comes back. I get nauseous about a 1/2 hour after eating no matter what I do. Good luck controlling yours. Bambi - Welcome! Coco - How did wi go???? Cheryl - We all get there  You'll come out of it. Maryann - To bad about your theater. Glad you had fun at the movie. I agree w/Sandra I tend to over eat bad after I feel I deprived myself by staying on program, it's just a mind game we play with ourselves. Good luck getting back on track. Sammi - Did you mean the upper peninsula of Michigan, when you said UP? That's where I went to school (MTU). Well, I should go. Have a great day everyone. -Tech ps I'm over the 200 miles for the summer mark :woohoo: |
Hi All:
Busy board already! Vickie, I'm glad to hear you got some good news about your health. I laughed about everything being weight or hormones...and then, there's "stress"! Oh well, it's not easy being a doctor! I've got a super busy week ahead of me. Lots of meetings and late afternoon events. It's going to be a challenge to stay OP but I'll make it the highest priority. I've been hoping to lose 2 pounds a week, but one seems to be all I can manage at the best of times. I'll work on that. Have a great OP day everyone. Rhonda |
Good morning ladies,
I am fairly new to core and am struggling with it. I noticed that there aren't any serving sizes, but we are supposed to pay attention to how we feel while eating. Is anyone else struggling with this? Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention while I am eating. I am attending WW at work, but I'm one of the few on core. Last time I was on WW I used flex, but was hungry a lot and gave up on it. |
Donna- You went to Tech? I'm at NMU! :) It's my last year and I will be returning to IL in May. Today is another freezing day but it's suppose to be 70 tomorrow with a little rain here and there during the week.

Thank you all for the welcome! Im so happy to be here. Forgive me while i get used to the posting style here. Im used to message boards so it shouldnt take me long... I think this is how we do it right....
Donna~ 28 miles on a bike? Wowza! WTG. I want to camp more. i love it! I think it would be wonderful to bike that far. A lot of people here bike ride LONG distances. I hope some day I am able to do that or run or something. Hopefully we will live someplace where i enjoy being out doors. Arizona scenery just isnt my thing... Patty~ I know how you feel. A friend im doin WW with said it took her a couple of weeks to get the feel. I seem to be having a hard time sticking to the core plan for some reason. Maybe its because i have been a carb addict all of my life and it will just talke time.... My wi is tomorrow so we shall see what has happened.. Everyone~ Have a great week! Happy losing! |
Patty, the one suggestion I have is to start with a smaller serving then eat slowly. There aren't any real serving sizes - but you supposed to eat until satisfied (not stuffed). What I usually do is have my dinner plate 1/2 veggies, 1/4 starch and 1/4 protein. If I eat that slowly ( I tend to woof down food) and I'm still hungry I'll take a bit more. If I'm not hungry I stop. I do drink water before a meal and during.
If you're not sure, try following the serving sizes from flex (1/2 cup of this or 3 ounces of that) so you can get a feel for proper serving sizes. HTH! |
Hi Ladies:)
It was a long long day and I'm glad it over, and everything went fine. Leo had is port put in his shoulder cavity for his chemo treatments, and all is well. Now I'm nursing my right rotary cuff for shoulder tendinitis. Was afraid to drive, but some how it didn't bother me. While at the hospital I tried to keep close to the core as possible had a turkey breast with cranberry & lettuce whole wheat sandwich and Iced tea for lunch. PAULA-Boy you had a busy Sunday, and I glad you enjoyed your DD bridal shower. That great that your down 1.5 hope it continues for your Wed W-I. Chinese food is mostly veggie but the sodium is quite high just flush it out with water. Leos doing fine after the ordeal that I mentioned above.I don't like they way she treats the core program either, she tends to talk about the flex all the time,if I don't jump in and ask ??????? about the core. Out of 30 people maybe 10 are core, and I told her & the group that the core is a wonderful healthy program and they shouldn't be afraid to come aboard.I try to use about 2 per day today I had 7 not be a home I had no choice. VICKIE-Glad that you got the results back and all were fine.- DONNA-Glad you had a good camp out weekend. You didn't do to bad eating wise, remember you were on a mini vacation, and we always tend to stray. Some of my friends were upset losing our only movie theater in town.Hope they put up a normal theater instead of the pub/theater that they had there. RHONDA-Hope you wish will come true and that you lose that 2-lbs that your were planning to use.Sending you good vibes for your W-I PATTY-I usually have a cup or 2 of veggies & 1/2 come of grain carbs. and about 4-6 oz of protein. I can't judge very will if I satisfied or not,so I go by the measuring as I posted Hope that helps BARBI-Welcome if I didn't do it on the other thread. You're doing fine, with the posting. Have a nice evening Ladies and I see you all in the morning Hugs :) |
We're home and are we tired? We both were wound up and worked in the yard for a couple or so hours. Curtis mowed and I weeded. Now we're chilling out watching football.
Today while we were driving, we made a plan. We're going to begin an exercise regimen tomorrow. Plus, I'm going to WW. Paula, congratulations on lsoing weight. Cheryl, I've been in a funk, too. Let's get out of it, okay? Donna, I'm just south of Fort Worth. We only got about 1/4 inch rain out of Ike. No damage at all. We are lucky. On the way home today we saw a lot of evacuation information on the interstate. Folks are being boarded all over the state--even in Amarillo. Rhonda, you're doing well especially considering how busy you are. Remember to take time to give yourself a big hug. Patty, that's good advice Paula gave. Barbi, you're posting perfectly except you're supposed to tell me how great I am. Maryann, you've really had a time of it, haven't you? I hope you get to feeling better soon. |
Good Morning Chicks! Yesterday was still gray and humid after our torrential rains. Today, however, dawned beautiful and blue. I'm still feeling crummy, but I'm going to walk on the treadmill. If my problem is stress and hormonal, I'm hoping the exercise helps that plus gets me going down in the weight direction.
I stayed the same yesterday which is not acceptable after a .4 gain last week. Yesterday morning, I went out and ate a big omelet for breakfast and put a ton of hot sauce on it. Probably not my best move on weigh in morning. Speaking of weighing in....can anyone recommend a great basic digital scale. Mine is dead and I never really liked it much. I'm trying to decide whether to replace the two batteries or to buy a new scale. Sandra, we got 13 inches of rain over the weekend. We've had enough. Maryann, you're doing great. My husband has rotator cuff issues (2 surgeries) so I know how much pain your in. Take care of yourself. I'm meeting a former work GF for a salad today. Should be fun. |
