New pages for a new week!
|
Good Morning Ladies:)
WoW!! What a beautiful day we're having after that awful hurricane this weekend. We stayed home and watched the golf tournament, all weekend long. Nothing new, still trying to limit my points to have a better weight loss than I had last week. I only used 9 so far counting today. Eating lots of veggies for snacks this weekend, like grape tomatoes, raw green & wax bean, baby carrot & baby zucchini.Hope that will do the trick. PAULA-Thanks for starting us up this week. Sloan-We enjoyed the golf tournament even if our guy didn't win.Never hear of diet coke Sloppy Joes. I remember using diet soda for dessert like cakes, but never in a meal. Have to find that recipe. Tracie--Sorry about you gain, that the one thing that I didn't like about cruising or any vacation, all that food and than the after effects of gaining. You'll lose it again once you back to the Core Plan.Glad you had a great time, even though you had to witness a fight. Thanks I sure he'll have the injection before his treatment,at least that what I understood from the doctor. Sandra-Sending you some [[[[[stress:stress:free vibes]]]]]] you you can back to eating the hard core way. Have a great morning, will come back later Hugs :) |
Good morning everyone. What a busy weekend. DD had an "awesome" first day at school on Friday. She was a bit nervous today to go, but once we were waiting for the bus she was fine. Gymnastics started on Saturday am - it was a long hour! I need to plan on doing some errands at that time. The waiting area was very crowded and loud. I tried to read but could not concentrate - there was the K class, a preschool class and a group of older girls all having different sessions. It also being the first class, there were quiet a few parents standing around the windows watching. I guess I'm an old hat at this - being her 3rd year, been there, done that!
Hanna was a bust for us - about an inch or so of rain and wind ( I guess). It came through during the night.By Sunday am it was bright and sunny. There are a lot of leaves down, but not much else. We were lucky. Yesterday was dh's birthday - started with breakfast out and then ended with dinner out and cake and ice cream. Needless to say - today is a new day, plus TOM is looming. The scale is evil! Sammi - congrats on the loss! Vickie - good luck with the tests tomorrow. I do know what you mean about looking us information on the web. Without a Dr to explain what your looking at and how it relates to you, there is just way too much confusing, scary information out there. Sandra - hope you trip home was safe. The one positive thing to say about family being spread all over -- its so easy with the web, email, digital photos and videos to stay in touch. It doesn't replace the face to face contact but you can know whats happening. HTH. Sloan - contrats on your loss too!! Great job. Thanks for the idea of the sloppy joes on a potato. Never thought of doing that. DH and DD love the diet coke sloppy joes, and when I make then I usually have a roll and count the points. NO MORE! Oh, and top the potato with ff cheese prior to putting the meat on top....... Coco - welcomoe back!! Rachel - congrats on your 3 pd loss! Was that in one week! Great job. Tracie - welcome back from vacation. Your time away sounds wonderful. Don't worry about the 9 pds, just get back on plan. I gained 5 pds from only 1 week!!! So 9 in 3 weeks is too bad. Well, got to run. BBL |
Morning all:
I'm going to start a weekly challenge. Join me if you can. Rhonda ps: Tracie, I hope you didn't read my comments as personal about your comments. I should have said it was the politicians (one in particular) who really aggravated me. But, it's also just citizens who so readily agree with what are really propoganda statements. Last year I met someone who, as soon as he learned I lived in Canada, began a total diatribe against the "socialist" Canada...blah, blah, blah...He was not the only one, just one example. Anyway, enough from me about all of this (at least for this post ) |
Cheryl and Sandra just posted on last week's board: FYI
|
.... I know ... oops :o
|
Hey chicks! How's everyone doing? I'm starting the challenge today. Thanks for starting it Rhonda.
Maryann-the diet coke sloppy joes recipe is on the board, just search it in the recipes. It is sooooo yummy!!!!!! Tracie-glad you're back! I've been missin' ya. I'm glad you had a great time. Too bad you don't live nearby, you could join our choir!! Vickie-I'll be praying for your tests. Try not to worry! Paula-glad to hear that the hurricane was a "bust". Sounds like dd had a nice b'day. Glad kindergarten went well. Sandra-Hang in there, we're rootin' for ya. Hope the rest of you are doing well. Come on and join in the challenge for this week, the more the merrier!! TTFN |
Hello All,
Wow busy thread over the weekend. We had a nice weekend. Saturday we were going to go for a ride, but dh wasn't feeling well so we didn't. I just lazed around watching tv. Yesterday we went out for lunch and then over to the Village for the annual "Old Car Festival" It is the longest running festival of it's kind in the country and the newest cars there are from 1931  We met up with DH's aunt and uncle who show their "T" there, they said Sat. was a zoo but had a lot more cars on display. I think the rain Sun morning scared away those who put their cars away/home for the night. It was still nice, we just casually strolled around. I'm not talking about the food for the day though it was not good, but I'm back on track today :D, I'll head over and join the challenge thread when I'm done here. Hope I can still get in a bike ride this evening after dh gets home. I need to get dinner started first, I'm trying a new recipe and it has a lot of steps :^: Tomorrow I'm going w/dh to the hospital for his pre-surgery apt. He'll be out of town next week and the surgery is the week after. Hopefully I'll know better what the couple of months will entail, the biggest thing I'm worried about is that whole "illeostomy" bag he'll have for 6 weeks, and what he can/can't eat......the pamphlet they gave us was interesting to say the least, we'll see I guess. Rhonda - I see that Coco's post touched a nerve. I personally always laugh about the people here who oppose health care reform but then will go to Canada for drugs. "Uh why do you think their drugs are cheaper?????" Coco - Great to hear from you I was thinking about you the other day. Please come back, like other's said we're all struggling. Sandra - Have a safe trip home. Vicki - Hope you figure this out soon. Maryanne - Hope Leo's blood count is back to normal. You are definitely strong even if it's only because you have too. Glad you didn't get too bad of weather from Hanna. Paula - Glad Hanna was a bust for you to. Just hop back on the wagon, I'm hanging on by my fingernails. Sloan - Congrats on your loss. I actually walked out of my WW meeting in the middle on Fri. I've never done that before, but we had a sub and she was starting to really annoy me, so I decided to just leave. If you can do it on your own with us, more power to you. I can't, I need to have someone to report to every week even if they don't inspire me. Traci - glad you had a good vacation. I'm supposed to head up north camping myself next weekend, :crossed: the weather cooperates. to all I missed. Have a great day everyone. -Tech |
Donna,
Contact the local Ostomy society for some support. It is made up of people who have ostomies and volunteer to help people with new ones. They will even come to the hospital and visit you and dh. I hope there is a group in your area. If you can't find one, ask your doc or call the local cancer society office as they may know how to find someone. |
Hi :)
Just got my walking done for about 20mins. tonight I do another 20 while watching tv. Paula-Glad you DD is adjusting to school,it can be every nerve racking sometime especially for the moms. My DD has her last boy going to KG now and she taking advantage to get shopping & errands done also. Now is going to sign up for the gym,and get some exercising done while the children are in school. RHONDA-Have to look for that challenge you ladies are talking about.I'm alway up for a challenge. SLOAN-Thanks I going to the recipe thread once I post here. It sounds interesting as I never cooked with diet or reg soda. DONNA-Thanks,I hope so also, but just in case he will get the injection,so the treatment can continue.Glad that you havd a wonderful Sunday look at antique cars. My DH friend has an old 1956 Chevy Impala. He goes to shows in Fla where he lives. So I'm so sorry about your DH,not being around this week before surgery. I don't know too much about your case so I won't be able to help you,but Sloan gave you good advice to look up a support group around where you live. Hugs :) |
Oops, me, too. Thanks for pointing folks to me, Rhonda. Thank you also for starting the challenge thread. I hope that fussy person you mentioned isn't Curtis. I know he can get on rampages about things. Seems I follow him around trying to rebuild bridges. Oh, well, I love my grumpy old guy.
Eatingwise, I'm doing great today. I'm so ready to be in control of my eating. Life's too short to be feeling stuffed all the time. Paula, thank you for the new pages here. Our youngest granddaughter began kindergarten last week and is loving it. I'm sure your dd is, too. Don't you love the enthusiasm? Maryann, thank you for the anti-stress vibes. I need them. Donna, I'll start back :ebike: when we get home. Till then I'll be taking daily walks. |
I've had a great Core day today...hope you all have. I didn't even have too many weak moments.
Donna, I read about that car show in the Toronto paper. Sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy your bike riding. Nah, it wasn't your Sweet grumpy guy, Sandra. it was some guy in the neighborhood that DH and I want to move into when we go back to Texas. I decided right then and there that I'll have an open house when we move and I'll hand out literature about Canada  (That will make a lot of friends, I bet!) Rhonda |
Whew! Rhonda. I am so glad it's not my grumpy old man. I think the brochures are a good idea. You go, girl.
I'm doing well eatingwise today. We are meeting family for dinner in about an hour. This will probably be the last time we see our grands this trip. I'm going to focus on the visit more than the food. Wish me success. |
I gained .4. I'll adjust my tracker tomorrow. That's the way it goes. I'll have a nice loss next week.
You all are doing well. Keep up the good work. |
You'll have that off in no time at all. Vickie, I love your attitude and determination.
|
I'm back on track and had a great 1st day back. I got in all my water(another thing I wasn't doing well on when I was on vacation) and now I'm only showing about a 7 pound gain. Maybe by Wednesday I'll be down a few more. We will see. I could have a good deal of water weight since I didn't get all my water in while I was on vacation. And with all the alcohol I consumed, I'm sure it didn't help that I wasn't drinking my water.
MaryAnn, I just went to the store and bought a bunch of carrots and celery and broccoli. Now I need to find a dip I can make with some plain ff yogurt and I can use that to dip my veggies in. I like them a lot better if I have something to dip them in. Or, I also like ff ranch dressing to dip them in. Paula, I usually have my diet coke sloppy joes on a 1 pt burger bun, or before I found the 1 pt burger bun, I used thomas's light english muffin because it calculates out to 1 pt because of the fiber. It is so good. Sloanie, I never thought of having the sloppy joes over a potato. Sounds good! Too bad I don't live closer, I would love to join your choir!! Funny, I was just talking to my brother about the movie Choirboys. Ever seen it? It's an older movie but pretty good. Donna, I hope the weather does cooperate for you. It's getting colder here, and it's raining tonight. Goodbye summer...I'll miss you. Rhonda, I didn't think you were talking about me, I was just telling you I don't really know anything about Canada's healthcare system. Sandra, keep up the great eating. I am feeling so much better just after being back op for one day. I really have to remember that the next time I think I need to eata everything and anything. Vickie, don't fret. .4 is nothing and you will get that and more off next week! Found a recipe on DWLZ for Sticky Chicken. I will post on the board. Only problem is the recipe calls for 6 lbs of boneless skinless chicken breast. Someone else said they just used 6 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, but it does freeze well too. |
Me, too, Tracie. Maybe we need to make a sign or something.
|
Good Morning Chicks! I'm up to get ready for my test. Talk to you all later.
I'd love some sticky chicken! |
Just popping in real quick before we leave for the hospital. Yea I stuck to core yesterday. The rain moved in before dh got home from work so we didn't get in our ride though :( It's supposed to move out early today though so maybe today.
Sandra and Tracie - Me three!!! Why exactly is it we forget how much better we feel when we eat right???? Vicki - Good luck on your test? Have a great day everyone. -Tech |
Hi everyone. Just spent 1 1/2 weeding flower beds in my yard. I had not done any of them all summer - they were bad. But now they are ready for mulch - something we just never got to this spring. I figure get it done for the fall, then get in my mums. The beds should look pretty good next spring. I also picked up a ton of bulbs to plant. Most of the ones in my yard are so old, they don't flower. Today is my first Tuesday with dd in school. The whole day to myself!!! My cleaning lady is here now, I'm on the back patio relaxing while my house is cleaned. Then its off to run some errands then I'm getting a manacure and pedicure! I just need to be back at the house by 3:30.
Vickie and Tech - good luck with your Dr appts today. Please update us when you can. Tracie - whats in the sticky chicken? Sounds interesting. This week I made Chicken, barley and sweet potato soup. Very good. I haven't made it since last winter. My goal food wise today is to stick to core. I did really well yesterday -- until DHs bday cake called me -- I was weak. Today I'm going to be stronger. TOM is here, the choc cake with choc frosting and choc icecream was much stronger then me! BBL |
Hey chickies! Stayed op all day yesterday. I've been having only one starch per day to try and move on toward goal. It has not been as difficult as I expected. Today is short for me as I will be leaving early to go with DH for his appt. with the rheumatologist. Hopefully we will have some answers before too long.
Maryann-good for you getting in your walk. Keep going! Sandra-I know you are sad to leave your grands. I'll be thinking about you! Tracie-sticky chicken sounds good, can't wait to try it! Hang in there, those pounds will be off in no time. I have not seen Choir Boys, what is it about? Paula-Quick! Put that cake in the freezer! Rhonda-Send some of that will power out to us! Tech and Vickie-hope all went well at the doc today. GTG get ready to leave early. Have to leave plans for my sub! Have a great rest of the day! |
Thanks all! I had my test and will have results by Friday morning. I'm going to have a bite to eat and go to nap. I've been up since 5:15 and I'm tired.
I'm making my Core meat sauce with ww rotini and fresh green beans for dinner. Nap first! Good luck, Donna! |
Hi Ladies:)
Sorry:sorry: for the late post but i just get home from the chemo treatment center.Had to get up at 5:30 this morning for an 8AM appointment. Boy Leo & I are tired:tired: we 're going to relax,no housework or anything thing like that on the agenda today. Sandra-You're welcome, some times I need the anti- stress vibes also. No matter how hard you try to keep stress out of your life it comes anyway. Tracie-That wonderful that you bought all those veggies:carrot::broc: here the web site http://www.recipezaar.com/recipes.ph...earch&Searcht= that has core veggie dips.Look them over & see which ones you like. Hope that helps. Vickie-Sorry:sorry: about your.4 but heres to a great loss next week. One never know even when we eat right our body do what they want to do,no matter what we do or say.HAVE A GOOD SLEEP,maybe thats What I do also. Hugs :) |

Rhonda, I just figured we can never have too much :dust: I'd wallow in it if I could. Vickie, I hope your test shows good results. Okay, I'm curious. What's sticky chicken? Maryann, I love those days of just kicking back. You and Leo enjoy your well-deserved break. Paula, how did your Tuesday go? I imagine you had mixed feelings. Donna, I wish I knew why we do that. The other day I had Fiesta Nachos. I got a whole order instead of a half. I couldn't eat all but still got sick. It was like it just went "clunk" in my tummy. I was miserable 2 days. In the past I would eat the whole thing and not feel anything. I guess I've changed a little afterall. Now I just need to remember and never order like that again. If I HAVE to have some, I need to at least share. Sloan, what did dh find out at the doctor's? I hope he can get some much needed relief soon. Congratulations on staying op. Congratulations to all of us. I think we're doing well--and we're having fun doing so. |
Sloanie, the sticky chicken is cooking as I am typing this. It's smelling pretty good. The Choirboys is about a bunch of cops and the things they go through, but they always have "choir practice" (like you do) after their shift, in the park. There are actually a lot of stars in it, but they were probably not stars at the time they make the movie. There are some funny parts and some sad parts. One of the funny parts was a gay guy(do you remember Dr. Smith in the original Lost in Space series? He plays the gay guy) and he is walking his "pink" poodle in the park. Well they tied one of the cops to a tree, naked(they don't really show anything), and the gay guy is all excited because there is a naked man tied to a tree. The guy that is tied to the tree is a real prick cop. You learn to hate him through out the movie. But it's a pretty good movie.
Paula, sticky chicken is made with boneless skinless chicken breasts, ff catalina dressing, sugar free apricot preserves(no points because it's spread over a good 8-10 servings) and a packet of Lipton onion soup. It smells delicious. I will let you know how it tastes. I also have some "Go for the Grains Casserole" cooking. I have never tried it before so I'm hoping I will like it. It looked pretty tasty when I was putting it together. MaryAnn, thank for the website! I will definitely check it out. Well, got to go check on dinner. |
Wow! That sounds delicious. I'm going to copy it. Thanks for sharing, Tracie.
|
Is the sticky chicken cooked in the crockpot? (My favorite appliance!). If not, probably could easily throw it all together. Sounds fabulous! Hope it tastes as good.
|
The sticky chicken was pretty good. But is sure makes a lot. It is not a crockpot recipe, it is cooked in the oven.
|
I hope all of you with Dr's appt's, medical issues and the like are getting good news. Coco posted on the Sept 1 thread saying that she did get some relief on the meds and has lost 1 1/2 pounds.
Hope she finds her way to the right week!! ;) All is well here. We're getting rains from all of the storms, but that's all. I did the Sweatin' to the Oldies 2 today. His routines are deceptive. They seem too easy but a few hours later you know you've done some good work. :woohoo: Have a good night all. Rhonda |
Hello All,
The hospital visit went ok, they didn't really tell us much, except what prep dh has to do before the surgery, and then he had to register w/the hospital and they did a couple of tests. He's pretty sick of having blood drawn, and he has many more months of this. But when I got home PMS kicked in big time, I was tired, cranky and wanting a big bowl of carbs. I have to confess to caving, I actually drove to the store to get chips. I figured if I didn't buy any I'd be ok, but no such luck. Oh well, I'll move forward from here. (I seem to say that a lot). On a good totally unrelated note, the yarn store called about the class I wanted that was full, they've added a second one :D so now I can sign up. Coco - If you find us :congrat: on your loss and finding a solution to the meds. Rhonda - I find all exercise done right has that effect. Yea on getting it done, I have been slacking in that dept. Sandra - some days are more fun than others. :dust: Paula - Yea on getting the flower beds done. Want to come do mine? They look really sad this year. Tracie - how was the casserole? I'm trying to get in more whole grains, so far so-so. Vicki and Maryanne - Hope you got some naps in and are less tired. Well, I've gotta get moving. I'm meeting my parents at the park today, we had to postpone a day because of the dr's apt and dad golfs today so they want to go earlier than normal. And right now it's only 46 degrees out. I'm not sure I'm ready for fall even if it is my favorite season. Have a great day everyone. -Tech |
Good Morning Chicks! I hope you are all doing well on program and/or climbing back on the wagon. I'm doing pretty good.
I'm off to eat breakfast and plan dinner for today and Friday. Planning ahead is all that saves me. I did cook yesterday and I'm quite proud of myself. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
I got up at 8AM and do I feel refreshed and raring to go. Last night I thought I was going to cheat and eat everything in sight that wasn't nailed down. I get that way when I tired, but what saved me is that I keep prepared veggies that I had in the refrig, just for those time when I'm feeling out of control. Sandra-I love that time off,and we did enjoy it but now its back to reality. The house work is still there and need tending. Tracie-Its might be recipezaar but these are WW core recipes for dips that was giving to us on another message board. The main Core recipe are in this part. http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbook.php?bookid=25930 Donna-those needles that they draw blood from or chemo treatments are not good thats in Leo case. They can't find this veins in this arms anymore so he going to have a port installed in his chest or arm until treatment is done.Hope you DH is luckier and not have to deal with this. I was in your state looking for all types of snaky carbs but munched on crunchy veggie instead. Sending your some :dust: I'm Ok this morning as I posted above. Vickie-Enjoy your breakfast,I doing good staying on OP as tomorrows is my WI day and I'm a little nerve getting on the scale. Hugs :) |
Those $%^#* carbs!!! When combined with stress, fatigue and worry, they'll get us everytime!
Think positive! I bet we are all a little bit better off than we were before we found this board! Have a good Core day everyone. I'm staying home and doing more wallpapering and painting. The university is unlikely to fall apart without me there today! Rhonda |
Hey chickies! I posted last night, but I don't see it. Oh well!
Sandra-the doc did not think dh had any autoimmune illnesses, but he did some blood work and gave him a short course of prednisone as a sort of test to see how he does. Thanks for asking about him! Tech-did you see my note about the "ostomy society"? Let me know if you need some info. I know you and dh will be glad when all this is over. I'll be praying for both of you. I understand about the PMS. I really get the munchies, too! Rhonda-have a great day, and don't work too hard! Maryann-glad you got some rest! Hope you and Leo have a great day! Vickie Tracie-I've made that recipe before, but not as a ww recipe. It was delicious. I'm glad to know there is a way to make it core. I'm going to make it very soon. Paula-I wonder if you could use the sticky chicken recipe for the crock pot? You may want to cook it for a while without the preserves then add them close to the end of the cooking time. Have a great day chicks! GTG be a teacher |
I'm glad Coco's back to losing. Maybe I'll join her?
Donna, it's 40ish here today, too. We've driven in rain all day but are now in Billings. We'll get to see our newborn (and our first) great grandchild tonight. Tomorrow we head on to Texas. Maryann, I'm glad you're rejuvenated and back to business. You sound refreshed. Vickie, let's make some sticky chicken soon. What do you say? Rhonda, I hear we're getting lots of Ikey rain in Texas already You're right. We have our ups and downs but our ups (or should I say weight downs) days are getting more numerous. Sloan, I hope Dh gets better now that he has the meds. I'd like to find out about crock potting the sticky chicken, too. |
Evening chicks! How are y'all!
Sandra-I have not made the sticky chicken in the crock pot. I was just making a suggestion. I think the preserves would be more "sticky" if they were put on toward the end of the cooking time. I think it is awesome that you have a great grandchild! How exciting! GTG look up some thing for dh. TTFN |
Hello chickies! I wi tonight and my gain was not as bad as I thought. I still gained 4.2 pounds, but that's not so bad for 3 weeks of celebration of food and drink. I was actually happy to hear it was only 4.2. So I have changed my ticker. I was only one pound from losing 40 pounds, now I am 5.2 pounds away. Oh well, if I work hard enough, I can get that off in a few weeks. It took me 3 weeks to put on, so if it takes me 2-3 weeks to get off, that's a fair trade off :)
Donna, the go for the grains casserole was ok, but kind of bland for me. So tonight, I made burritos w/lean ground beef & those high fiber 1 point burrito/tortilla wrap things, and added some of the casserole when I rolled up my burrito. It was pretty good and made the burrito more filling. I think when I make it next time, I would add some more seasonings, chili powder or something like that to make it like mexican rice. I mean, it has black beans and veggies in it. I actually think it would be a great mexican flavored dish if you seasoned it up a bit. Maybe even add some tomato sauce or tomatos. Mmm, that sounds good. The rest of the casserole that I have leftover, I will be adding it to things, or adding something to the casserole. I am bringing some taco meat and a 1 pt burger bun & ff cheese w/lettuce to have a taco burger for lunch. I think I'll mix in some of the casserole with the taco meat. The casserole is very filling. All those grains, it has to be. Rhonda, I used to have this awesome Jazzersize video and I loved it. Half of it was aerobic and have you were on the floor doing legs, arms & abs. I wish I still had it because I could at least do the floor part of it. I used to also do Tao Bo, which I really enjoyed. I still have those, but I know I can't do those anymore. |
Good Morning Chicks!
I'm picking window treatments this morning but I wanted to say good morning. I also want to take a moment to ask everyone to remember all those lost seven years ago today on 09/11. I was in downtown Chicago and it was the most frightening day of my life. |
Thank you, Vickie for starting the day with a memory of those killed, hurt or left alone seven years ago today.
I remember being told that a plane had hit the tower and I thought it was a student off course in a light plane. Never have I been so wrong with an assumption. Rhonda |
