New Pages!!!

blessedwithsarah 07-28-2008 09:05 AM

Good morning ladies. My change for the week -- I'm going to track my weight on Fridays going forward. I had been keeping it on Tuesdays as that was when I was going to meetings. But since I'm now doing the program on line I just realized I can pick my day.....So, Friday it is. I tend to use WPAs more on the weekend, so why not track my weight prior to that. I may even go to Saturday am. So, this week I'll write down my weight then.

Not much else going on here. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Tejas 07-28-2008 09:27 AM

Good morning:

Thanks for the new pages, Paula.

I had a very busy weekend and went a little wild with the food yesterday. Hopefully I didn't use the points I had left for the week. But, it really wasn't all Core yesterday :yikes:

I spent much of yesterday working in the back yard while the adult daughter of some friends of mine slept in my recliner in the LR. She has schizophrenia and had just travelled across Canada by bus! She showed up seeking refuge which we gave her, and her brother picked her up last evening. I hope she will be OK, but her compliance with her medication hasn't been the best recently. It's such a devastating disease, as I'm sure you know.

We were able to join friends for dinner last night and it was scrumptious. We were eating outside when our daily thunderstorm sent us scurrying inside to finish the meal. We were able to end the evening sitting outside though. My friend has a beautiful garden which is so relaxing to look at.

Toronto has many, many racoons. There is a family of five in my friend's neighborhood and they came visiting last night. They get very close to humans and entertain us with their antics: sitting on the fence and shed roof, climbing through the trees, chirping at us and one another.

So, stay CORE, drink your water and MOVE. :coach:

Cheers,
Rhonda

Vickie 07-28-2008 11:02 AM

Good Morning Chicks!

Paula, tracking the 35 points on Core was KEY for me to lose. When I got lax with that, so did my weight loss slow down.

Rhonda, you sound relaxed despite the fact that it is Monday. Raccoons are very smart creatures. They moved into Jim's house once before I met him. Not nice creatures up that close!

I'm off to errands. I'm now looking for area rugs for my kitchen in french country colors...blue/yellow. I found gorgeous ones at Penneys. I can't get them though. They are dry clean, need slip pads, and can't be vacuumed with a regular vacuum....no beater bar. Sheesh. How practical are they? I have a big kitchen and like to stand on area rugs when I'm cooking. The ceramic tile kills me if I don't. And...with a muddy dog...no way.

Anywhoo.....I have a busy 3 days coming up to run around and shop and pick up the supplies for our tile backsplash. I think my counters are being pulled next Monday, installed on Wednesday and backsplash on Thursday. I'm tired.

Have a great day!

sloanie 07-28-2008 12:31 PM

Hi chicks! Sorry about saying I would post the recipe and then failing to do so. I fought with my computer for at least an hour then gave up. I am at school for a few minutes, so I thought I'd say hello. Next week when I'm here more, I'll post the recipe. Hope you all have a great day!

beach bum 07-28-2008 03:12 PM

Thanks :thanks:PAULA for the new pages.Didn't realize that the new week starts on Mondays.
You've got a good plan having your W-I just before the weekend.Thats what I'm doing having more of my WPA's over the weekend that on the week days.

RHONDA-Did you track some of your points or are you guessing what you had??? I have a food journal espeically for the WPA's as I can't control the amounts without tracking. Hope you didn't use all of your points, but if you think you did exercise:exercise: more & flush it out with H2O

VICKIE-Going to take care of myself as I want the grandkiddy's to come up next weekend. We have Area rugs are in my living room & dinning area but in the kitchen I had scatter rugs and Leo & I almost fell tripping on them now I have bare wood floors instead.

SLOAN-Computers:comp: can have there own minds sometimes. When you have a chance,no big hurry, have a great semester this year.

Hugs :)

Vickie 07-28-2008 04:41 PM

Mary Ann...I misspoke. What I'm buying are what you call scatter rugs...area rugs are the bigger ones I think.

Sloan, we'll miss you until you get back.

aghiowa 07-28-2008 05:12 PM

Hi all! I am back on the wagon, dang it! I may be hanging on with one hand, dragging in the dust behind the wagon, but I'm going with it.

I can't do all Core foods, but I have a plan I think will work.

I actually went to the rec center with my sister today, and did the eliptical machine and some weight machines. Boy am I out of shape and sore!

I am tired of being overweight and feeling like I can't do anything about it. I can. And I will. I don't want to spend any more time feeling powerless. I've always said that I can do anything if I want it enough. Why is this any different?

I will try to post every day, even though I'm not doing strictly Core, because I know you all are a wonderful resource and motivation.

Time to go grocery shopping, since we're out of milk!

Angela

Vickie 07-28-2008 05:30 PM

Angela, I'm SO happy to see you. We really are soul sisters, you and I! I'm picking my new start date for early August.....maybe even next Monday. We'll do it together.

Vickie 07-28-2008 07:57 PM

I just had a plum for the first time in about 25 years. It was delicious!

Tejas 07-28-2008 08:54 PM

Hey, Angela, good to see you back. And, good for you getting on the elliptical trainer.

Yes, Vickie, I was relaxed today. I'm working on not letting my job run my life. It might work until September ;)

Maryann: I just gave up last night and let my appetites take over. But, at least I didn't have two desserts

Have a great night everyone.

Where IS Coco???

Rhonda

aghiowa 07-28-2008 09:57 PM

Vickie,
Congrats on trying the plum. :) Nectarines are similar, and they are my absolute favorite fruit. I wonder if a plum would be as good as a nectarine is when stirred in with a bowl of cottage cheese?

I'm going to relax tonight and either watch some TV or read a good book. I need to get back to the library though - I've worked my way through all my books here. I'm so excited that this summer my girls have really been getting into reading. My 9 year old is a reading fanatic, and the 7 year old is imitating her. ;) If I can get my 5 year old reading before kindergarten in a month, I'll be set.

Night!
Angela

Vickie 07-29-2008 09:20 AM

Good Morning Chicks! I'm off to pick up tile and supplies and have a lovely lunch...mostly Core...at Sweet Tomatoes. I wish we had one close as it is quite far from home. Nice that it's close to the tile store. www.sweetomatoes.com. Then I'm going to order our new bathroom sink vanity. If I still have energy, we'll go look for a new powder room mirror. I'm not optimistic since I'm looking for oak and it's not in style. If I have to live with the old mirror, I will. Then...if the rain holds off....swimming. I was in the pool yesterday for about 2 hours. It's great stress relief.

Have a great day Chicks!

nancy237 07-29-2008 11:15 AM

hey everyone..
My grandson is staying over today so that is always fun.
Doing a family birthday dinner tonight and I always resort to the same old
hamburger /cake routine. I am getting a small cake so there will be only one small piece person.
Our sides will be better than they used to be .

I am back to 142 and holding . If I can just stay there for 2 weeks
all the kids will be back at school and I will get strict again and I
think I can lose another 10 pounds.

My husband had chest pains last Monday and we rushed to the ER
and they found a 90% blockage the next day and put in a stent.
He is great now but it was really scarey. I was driving him to the ER
and he was worse and as I thought I should have called an ambulance,
I looked up and an ambulance was beside me at the light.
They took over !!! Ain't God good!!!

Vickie 07-29-2008 12:36 PM

Very Good!

beach bum 07-29-2008 12:55 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Still not feeling good,so I called my friends and told them I wouldn't be joining them at our canasta game this afternoon.Another reason I'm not going I don't want them to catch what I got. Going to miss them but we meeting again on Sunday for brunch.

VICKIE-Thats ok,I like scattered rugs also, but I worn you to be careful not that you trip on them.

ANGELA-Glad you came back on the wagon,Its hard to do a pure core,my leader always tells me to use your WPA's as this is not a diet but a way of life.I usually try to only take 15 WPA's per week, but this week I used 21 and I have 2 more days to go. You did good going to the rec room and getting on those exercise machine, sure you will be sore, but once your muscles get used to new movements it will subside.

The only way to find out if a nectarine tastes as good as a plum with cottage cheese it to try it. I Like nectarines also but I used creme that you buy from the coffee aisle I think ids [1 WPA]

RHONDA-Some times no matter how hard we try our appetite goes wild. Good for you staying away from the two pieces of cake.

NANCY-Oh I so sorry about your DH having to go to the ER. They also say to call for an ambulance,as they have the equipment just in case something go wrong,Happy to here your DH is doing fine.

Have to go,and get my chores done

Hugs :)

pattygirl63 07-29-2008 02:15 PM

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick note to let you know I'm going back to Flex. I don't like counting pts for everything but after doing this for a week, I find that I not only need... I believe I have to. I appreciate everyone of you here. You are a great bunch.

Hugs,
Trish

twestra 07-29-2008 07:36 PM

Angela!!! Great to have you back:carrot: We have missed you.

Vickie, hope your tile shopping and lunch went well today.

BB, sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I'm finally starting to come around. Still coughing like crazy but at least I'm feeling a bit better.

Trish, sorry to hear you are going back to flex, but you have to do what's right for you. Flex works, I just can't do all that journaling and counting.

Hope you all have a great night!

Tejas 07-29-2008 09:58 PM

Trish, there's no reason not to count points if you want to. Just eat Core foods since it's such a healthy way to eat.

Nancy, what a fright you and DH had. I'm so sorry to hear about that. Thank goodness you live close to emergency care.

I've done well with food the last two days, and walking a lot. We went to a buffet last night and I ate only salad, fish and ratatoulie (sp?). I was very proud of myself. Today, I was served sandwiches at a meeting, and I took off all the bread and just had the meat and veggies.

Hope you're all having a good night.

Rhonda

ontarget 07-29-2008 10:10 PM

Trish, I hate to see you leave. Stay here if you'd like. We need you.

Rhonda, you're making awesome choices.

Maryann, I hope you're feeling better. It was good of you not to expose your gf's.

blessedwithsarah 07-30-2008 09:11 AM

Hi everyone. Back to work for me today. Yesterday took dd to the beach -- I must say it was a PERFECT beach day. The Weather was in the 80s, low humidity and it was low tide in the afternoon. For a tuesday it was packed! But we had a great time. Now I can't wait for vacation and a full week of sitting on the beach.... Tonight is Parent's night at dd's camp. SO, I'm out of here at 4 to go home, pack a quick dinner to take with us and take her back to camp. It runs from 4:30-7. Last year we didn't go, we were going to skip it this year but she was asking us about going. DH is working so it will just be the 2 of us.

Vickie - I love plums, nectarines and peaches when they are in season. When the season is ending I find them getting mealy which I don't like, but when they are prefect, YUM. Did you decide on a date when you are going to WW meetings?

Angela, welcome back on the wagon! You did this before, you can do it again!

Tracie - great receipe site, thanks. I've book marked it and I need to look around for some new receipes.

Nancy, welcome back as well!! Scary about DH, but I'm glad things are well now. Its amazing what the DRs can do. Was the surgery arthorscopic?

Rhonda, congrats on the healthy choices!!!

Well, need to get some stuff done. BBL

Vickie 07-30-2008 09:56 AM

Good Morning Chicks!

Paula, you sound happy. Good for you. When you retire, every day is vacation. I love it. It's likely to be August 11th for my return to WW meetings. In the meantime, I'm following program for nearly all meals. I'm trying not to gain any more weight.

I'm off to more shopping today. I tuckered out yesterday and my hiatal hernial is bothering me so I know I need to slow down. Stress bothers it as well as certain foods and lifting. I didn't get in the pool yesterday so today will definitely be a swimming day.

Have a great one!

twestra 07-30-2008 10:19 AM

WI today and lost a whopping 2.8 pounds! Granted I have been sick and ate literally nothing for 2 days, but when I got my appetite back I did eat pizza. But I've been eating core ever since.

So I hit my 35 pounds and am only 2.6 away from my 40 pound mark!!! So excited!

Well, I'm off to see the doctor. On top of everything else, I think I have pink eye. Just great.

blessedwithsarah 07-30-2008 12:13 PM

:congrat: TRACIE -- Way to GO!!

beach bum 07-30-2008 02:58 PM

Hi Ladies:)

I just got home from the doctors and he told me that I have an bacterial infection and I have to take 2 antibiotics every day for 7 days.

One of the side effects is dizziness when driving so I guess I will have to miss my first weight watcher meeting,Never missed one before.

Called DD and told her about my infection and its up to her if she want to coming up here. She said I should play it by ear,as Sat. I would be 1/2 way though with the meds.

===============================================

TRICIA-Don't be a strange come back whenever. I believe that Weight Watchers has it covered by having two :books2:plans that we can switch from time to time.Good luck:luck: on the Flex plan,I have friends that still can't understand why I switched from flex to core.

TRACIE-Glad that you're feeling better.And big congrats:carrot: on your 2.8 weight loss. You're doing great. When I don't feel will I eat as I never lost my appetite.Don't expect a loss this week,if I W-I tomorrow.

RHONDA-Big congrats:carrot: for walking more and having a salad at a buffet table, thats once place I would have faltered. Can't be around to much food choices.

SANDRA-I don't like to receive a cold or infections from other people, so I refrain from places that I would expose anyone else. I waited out side in my car at the doctors office, and they nurse come out to tell me its was time for the visit with the doctor. I just think its common courtesy.

PAULA-My DD has the same kind of weather where she lives. I don't know, but where we live it was Hot:hot: & Humid.Everyone was complaining, never saw it that way in the 11 yrs up here. We're packed with people also, the supermarket was unreal this morning.

VICKIE-Good Luck :luck:in your returning to the meeting room. I find it the best,as you meet new people every week and find lots of info than doing the program at home or on line. Bit of course thats my opinion. Sorry:sorry: about your hernia,Hope that your swimming doesn't annoy it.

Hugs :)

aghiowa 07-30-2008 05:42 PM

Tracie, congrats on the great loss! Wonderful job!

I am getting ready to attend my brother's wedding this weekend, and trying not to wallow in self-pity about how I look. :) I actually have a cute outfit to wear (thanks to a raid on my mother's closet), but it's TOM and I have a HUGE pimple on my chin that just looks awful. At least no one will be looking at me, the sister of the groom.

I am doing pretty well with my eating. I am not snacking crazily any more, and trying to do better with portion control. Of course, I am up one pound since I started! I'm sure it's TOM, but it's enough to make me pull my hair out.

Other than all that, life is good. :D

Angela

twestra 07-30-2008 07:39 PM

Thanks for all the congrats everyone. I just realized I am over half way to goal!!! I am really excited now. That is if I keep my goal where it is. According to ww, my goal should be around 127, but my personal goal is 135. I figure, when I get there, I will know if it's right for me. If not, I will bump it down. But I think if I lose 35 more pounds, I will be fine with it.
I do have pink eye. Now I have some drops for that. My doctor thought I looked great though, with 37 pounds gone.

Angie, TOM can make you gain, so don't be discouraged. I'm so glad your back with us!

BB, now your not feeling well? Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better soon. I've been sick for a week now, and my doctor told me it was a virus and it usually lasted 7 to 10 days. I still have a sore throat, which he checked and it's just a sore throat, I cough and cough and cough, especially at bed time. He gave me some cough medicine with codiene(sp?) but told me to only take it at bed time. So I might actually get a good night sleep tonight. Plus, it feels like someone is sitting on my chest.

Vickie 07-30-2008 08:11 PM

Tracie, you are AWESOME! Keep up the good work. I'll be joining you soon.

Angela, you have to start somewhere. Enjoy yourself this weekend. How exciting that your Brother is getting married. Is there house all fixed?

I was in the pool for 2 hours. Better than the couch!

ontarget 07-30-2008 10:42 PM

Tracie, what a wonderful accomplishment! I am so proud of you.

Angela, girl, you're sounding just like me. We've lost it before. We can do it again.

Maryann, your dedication to your meetings is very impressive. That's something I need to do. I haven't been to a meeting in weeks.

Vickie, 2 hours in the pool sounds wonderful.

Paula, how was work today? What did you take for lunch?

Vickie 07-31-2008 03:29 AM

Good Morning....or good middle of the night Chicks! Ugh. You'd think I'd be exhausted after 2 hours in the pool. It's TOM time but all I have are the symptoms....mostly bloat and insomnia. Sigh.

I'll try to nap later and go in the pool again to tire myself out. I hope you are all in dreamland.

Maryann, I missed that you are sick. I hope your medicine works quickly and that you feel much better soon.

Later Chicks!

blessedwithsarah 07-31-2008 10:13 AM

Good morning everyone. I decided to change my tracker to give me a 5 pd target for the rest of the summer. With my vacation coming, I'll be happy 5 pds lighter by Sept 21st. Right now I'm happy not gaining. I'm trying to be good, I am writing things down but for some reason the scale is going up. Not sure what is going on with that, but I won't be discouraged. My clothes don't feel any different. I don't know.....

I did have my Ezekiel cereal - very similar to grapenuts but not as hard. A slightly different flavor. I'll buy it again as a change - the price is tough though. The box was almost $5, my store brand grapenuts in a bigger box is under $2. So, it won't be an every week thing, but I'll get it into the cereal rotation. I have to do some lunch cooking this weekend - my freezer is empty! I brought lentel soup today, I'll also get a salad from the cafe. Yesterday they had whole wheat pasta tossed with roasted veggies - skipped the bread and the cheese. It was very good. They are starting to do things with ww pasta and brown rice more. Its good to see.

BB, sorry your not feeling well. I hope the meds are working already. How is Leo feeling?

Angela, have fun at the wedding. How is the weather going to be for it?

Vickie, 2 hours in the pool. NICE! I'm jealous.

Oh, went to the Camp Parent's night. DH was able to make it after all. It was fun, we did archery (Sandra I missed terribly, one arrow fell at my feet :( ), arts and crafts, gymnastics, the outside obstacle course, toasted marshallows and went swimming. It was a busy 2 hours!

Got to run. BBL

ontarget 07-31-2008 11:01 AM

Paula, we all have arrows falling at our feet sometimes. They even have re-shoot rules for that. I hope you had fun. I think that's the main thing about archery--having fun.

We're getting all finalized for our trip. I am excited. There's a woman from Virginia coming to compete that I've been wanting to meet. It's going to be good to be able to put a face with a name. The Indoor Nationals that we compete in is held at 12 different venues around the nation, so we often don't get to be with the ones we're competing with. I hope they put thetwo of us on the same target butt. That'll be kewl.

Got to go. My battery (puter) is low so I need to recharge. Have a great day.

nancy237 07-31-2008 11:11 AM

Paula... I think the short term target is a great idea..

Vickie... I usually can't sleep til 2 or 3 am so I can sympathize about the insomnia. Let me know if you find solutions. About twice a week I take
a pill but I hate having to do that.

Maryann & BB & Tracie.. get well.. !!!

Angela.. can't wait to hear about the wedding.

I lost another pound !!! 141 Now.
I haven't been eating core ...just not eating much this week.

Tejas 07-31-2008 12:19 PM

Hi All:

I've noticed that weight loss has been really, really slow for me. I've been pretty good, I think!, with food, but not with exercise. So, today I've recommitted to going to the gym. I did 20 minutes of a tough aerobics class and 10 minutes on the exercise bike. I could have done the whole class but I don't actually like the routines this teacher uses. But, whatever I choose to do, I'm going to do MORE.

Paula, I know the problem. Sometimes I can put on five pounds and not be able to figure out why. Ridiculous!

I'm staying away from the office today and :comp: working from home.

Rhonda

beach bum 07-31-2008 01:04 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Had a very busy morning, with a condo meeting for our building. We[owners] needed new roofs,so we went over the materials from several roofers and decided on one of them and now we're waiting for the contractor to come, with all the specifics.

Feeling a lot better this morning but I Didn't go to the WW's so I don't know what my weight for the week was,but in fact I don't care, going to enjoy the weekend with my children and that includes food.

ANGELA-have a wonderful time:yes: at your brothers wedding this weekend. I'm sure you going be alright even with a pimple. I so happy:) I don't have to deal with TOM anymore.

TRACIE-The doctor told me that mine was a bacterial infection, and gave me 2 per day antibiotics for 1 week and 1 singular tablet per day.I'm feeling better already, and I looking forward to my family:grouphug: coming up.

VICKIE-In the pool for two hours is good, espeically on a hot & humid day.Do you do laps, or just reg :swim: swimming.?????

PAULA-I know what you mean by writing everything down and the scale going up.I believe that the SCALE has a LITTLE  DEVIL that steps on the scale with you. 5 lb intervals is a great idea  maybe I follow suit. The antibiotics are working, and I feeling a lot better. Leo is feeling fine today also,so I think the chemo meds are now working as he hasn't hack or coughed badly today at all.

SANDRA-Have a wonderful:yes: time at the competition.Hope you able to talk to the lady before it begins.

NANCY-Big congrats :cheer3: on your 1.4 lbs you're doing terrific. Now I wish I would have gone to my meeting, I might of lost also. Thanks for the well wishes,I feel like I getting better with every hour.

RHONDA-:carrot:congrats :carrot:on trying to spend more time at the gym.I usually exercise:running: every day by walking or doing walking tapes, but not feeling well this week I didn't have a :exercise:exercising program ready. Just heard on the news that experts have a pill that they gave to mice to enhance exercise, but they said it works on mice but they don't know if it works on people.

Hugs :)

ontarget 07-31-2008 01:49 PM

Rhonda, I hear you on the exercise. Right now I'm still faking it till I start making it. My plan (I know I need to stop planning and start doing.)is to get serious after the national championship---even though we'll be on vacation. Beginning after nationals will give me a couple of months before indoor season begins.

sloanie 07-31-2008 08:10 PM

Hi chicks! I've read all of the posts, and it sounds like some are doing great and some aren't feeling well. I'm sending prayers and wishes for all of you for a good rest of the week. I've been fighting with my computer for several days, and it's a miracle that I can even get on the internet now. I'm starting to get more involved in planning for the first day of school, and I've started physical therapy for "shoulder impingement", so I'm pretty busy. I've got to
rush off right now, and I'll try to come back tomorrow if my ornery computer will let me. I really miss being connected with the group!!! TTFN

twestra 07-31-2008 09:19 PM

Hi chicks! Feeling a bit better. Got sent home from work today because I had only been on my pink eye medication for 20 hours and they wanted to make sure I was no longer contagious, so told me I could come back in another 4 hours to make sure I wasn't contagious any longer. What a waste of time and gas. I could have slept in!

Sloanie, I miss you in here. I know you're busy and are having computer problems.Hope you get it all straightened out!

Sandra, have a great time on your trip! You always seem to be going somewhere. How lucky for you!

BB, glad you are feeling better. Don't worry about food, just enjoy your weekend with your kids.

Rhonda, I've also been lacking in the area of exercise, but hopefully when I feel better, I will get back to getting more exercise.

Nancy, WTG on your loss. Get back to core and you will be fine. You do have to eat! I should talk, being sick I didn't eat for 2 days straight.

Paula, sometimes it's easier taking things a step at a time. Setting your 5 pound goal is a good way of doing that.

Vickie, I want to get back in my pool. Just haven't been feeling well enough for that yet.

Angela, have a great time at the wedding. I'm sure you'll look wonderful!

blessedwithsarah 08-01-2008 07:16 AM

Well, today is the start of my new week. I weighed in and it wasn't pretty. But I logged it on line and its my new starting point. Now to focus on my 5 pds.

beach bum 08-01-2008 08:58 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Can't believe its August already, next weekend will be our annual road race and town will be extra mobbed with tourist from all over the word to compete in the race. Ever since I lived here only a few from this country won the majority came from Kenya.

Have to go to walmart to pick up a queen size sheet set as my DD bought us a queen size air mattress for her stay, and now in the future I have a mattress that I can bring out for guests.

I called my DD and left a message on her machine that the meds are making me feel so much better and the visit is on. The only thing now, my younger twin DGD is not feeling well.

If they come up,I really don't have any plans for tomorrow as my DD & DS will arrive some time in the afternoon. In the evening we'll celebrate Leo's birthday, with restaurant take out food and a birthday cake. He feels uncomfortable to go out and eat in a restaurant,so we're going to bring it home to him. Sunday we have the whole day to plan some kind of local trip that he would like to go to and than on Monday there on their way home.

Have to run and get the last minute things done,Have a wonderful weekend if I don't have a chance to get back on the computer.See you guy on Monday

Hugs :)
