Here we are with a new thread (a little late for today, sorry!).

There are postings from today on the other thread. We made it to 4 pages again! Down from our 6 in earlier times, but much better than the 2 we were at for a while.

My day was pretty good, but less walking than I normally do because I woke up late and had to ask DH to walk the dog for me. That's a good mile walk I missed. Well, some days sleep is just a priority!

Chat away everyone!

Vickie 10-22-2007 11:54 PM

I just finished day one of my new program. So far.....so good.

coco99 10-23-2007 12:46 PM

Hi Everyone
Thought I would get on here. No I NEEDED to get on here.
Just been going through the kitchen to see what all i could eat. And thought. NO. Go talk to the girls instead. So here I am.
WW was good. Somehow. I managed to lose a pound. But the way I ate. I have no idea how. I ate everything that was not core. I had macaroni and cheese, french fries, steak hogie, a quater pounder (from the hospital cafe) potato chips, chex mix. And there is more. But wont list it all.
So I have really got to stay focused this week. So I dont have a gain next week. Because I am sure it will catch up with me.
But I am noticing one thing. With the cooler weather I am having a harder time drinking my water. Is anyone else having this problem. Am thinking of making me some warm water. And adding with a little lemon juice or lime juice to it. But leader said that it wouldnt count as my water. I wont put any splenda or anything in it. So am wondering why it wouldnt count. Cause I didnt thing the juice would have any calories. And I would be using only a couple of drops. Any ideas on this.
Well I am hoping to be back on full core this week. But I fall off the wagon already today. So guess I will start today. Well no. Guess I should start with my next meal.
Well ladies. I am going to get off here for now. Going to go do some laundry.
Thinking of each of you.
coco

Vickie 10-23-2007 01:00 PM

Boy Coco, I'm sorry to say that you have a lousy Leader. Warm water with fresh fruit in it is STILL WATER! As long as it isn't caffeinated and you don't add any sugar or other calories, then it counts as your water for the day. Even artificial sweetner doesn't change it as far as I'm concerned. I've been struggling with my water for a while. I've started using a straw because it helps me drink it faster. I just bought myself some neon flexible straws because they are fun. Whatever it takes!

Congrats on the loss. You are wise to be good this week because it definitely can catch up with you.

Tejas 10-23-2007 04:52 PM

Water is water!!! And, yes, I have trouble getting enough in a day too....but, just keep drinking it.

I've been good today and finally I'll get back to :swim: tonight...back later.

Rhonda

Vickie 10-23-2007 05:57 PM

Rhonda, you GO girl! I hobbled through my 30 minute walk and I have been on program all day. Good girl!

coco99 10-23-2007 06:55 PM

Hi
Well I didnt get back on track like I wanted to.
I ended up eating pizza.
This is awful.
So got my trak out. And put it at my place at the table. So it will be there in the morn. And I can start fresh. Cause even though I do core. I need to keep track of what I eat. I seem to do better this way.
Boy it is dark already. YUCK!!
Hubby still isnt feeling good. Now he has something the matter with his foot. The one side is all swelled up. So he is taking some motrin. Helping some. So dont know if I will end up taking him to the DR's or not. Says he dont want to go. Dont know if it could be gout. or not. It is in the little toe if it is. So will have to wait and see what happens.
How is everyone doing.
Hope everyone is ok.
Thinking of each of you.
Have a great evening.

ontarget 10-23-2007 08:09 PM

Hi there, Chickies. I'm here but am not op yet. We didn't go to WW this AM. We opted to get out to the ranch and start scrubbing. I had to earn some pts with all the work I did today. I am exhausted tonight. I know I won't lose weight till I get my entire act together.

Vickie, I'm so glad you had a good OP day. I need you to inspire me. I have been struggling for quite awhile now.

Rhonda, the playhouse (mobile home) is going to need a lot of work. I hope it ends up being cute.

Coco, I'm struggling, too. Let's not give up. We'll get back on track.

Tejas 10-23-2007 09:04 PM

The best laid plans!! I'll tell you, there I was all dressed in my swim suit, watching the little kids finish their lessons when one of them vomited in the pool!! So, they had to close the pool. This has happened again and again. Honestly, it was a bit of orange juice thrown up mostly on the pool deck, but some in the pool. They have to drain the pool and refill it. That's the law and it's reasonable from a health perspective. But, just think...all that water drained for about 1/2 C of partly digested OJ. Sad.

But, I did notice that there was a good :exercise: class being conducted. So, maybe I'll give those a try. For tonight, I'll lie on the floor and do some leg raises, etc.

I had a lf yogurt, lf milk and blueberry shake for dinner. I'll probably wake up hungry at 3AM!

Just hang on everyone; we can do it! :grouphug:

Rhonda

ontarget 10-23-2007 09:39 PM

Ooooooooh, Rhonda. What a thing to have happen. Makes you want to do some land exercises, doesn't it?

Vickie 10-23-2007 11:13 PM

Sandra, did you buy a house?

Tejas 10-24-2007 08:51 AM

Yeah, I never heard of them closing a gym when a kid throws up on the floor! ;)

Ok, I've got a real challenge ahead: fancy lunch in a private club with a major program donor :woohoo:
I'll try to be good!

Sandra, the clubhouse is going to look great. I just know it!

Have a great day all.

Rhonda

coco99 10-24-2007 12:38 PM

Hi Everyone
Well it is raining here today. We have gotten about a inch and a 1/2 since yesterday. It is much needed. Wish I could sent some of it to the people in CA. That is awful about the fires out there.

TEJAS That is awful about the pool. But I think I would rather them close and clean it. Than swim in it. I would probably been right there with the kid up chucking. Seems like they always have something happening at the pool there. Hope your lunch goes well today. I know you will make good choices.
ONTARGET How are you doing. I know I am sure struggling lately. And dont know why. Guess I need to try and detoxic my body. Got started with eating some carbs. And am now out of control. And it is so hard for me to get back in control when this happens. But I have to get there somehow. So far today. Hasnt been to bad with the carbs. Alot better than it has been. So together we can get back on track. Your playhouse sounds like it will be wonderful.
VICKIE Glad you are posting. Have missed you. Hope you are having a great day.
TECHALUM How are you doing.
Thinking of everyone. Hope you are having a wonderful day.
Well am going to get off here for now.
Will check back in later.
coco

Vickie 10-24-2007 03:14 PM

Day 2 for me. I'm doing well and detoxing. I got in my 35 minute walk and I'm going out to run errands. I hope you are all doing well. I need to keep going.......

coco99 10-24-2007 06:04 PM

Hi There
Just checking in again.
VICKIE Glad you are doing good. Congrats on the walk. I need to start exercising. I know I would feel better. But just havent made myself get started. Figure I would try and get control of the eating first. Then work on the exercise. But maybe I need to work on both at the same time.
Cool and damp here.
Am thinking of making chili for tomorrow. It would be core wouldnt it.
If I use lean hambuger, and kidney beans and diced tomato's.
Or do any of you ladies have a good core chili recipe.
Maybe I will go check out recipes. See if I can find one.
Well will get off here for now. going to check out the recipes.
And then after that get off here. And maybe dig out some cross stitch. And work on that.
Hope everyone had a great day.
coco

Vickie 10-24-2007 08:59 PM

Lean ground sirloin or turkey with beans would definitely be Core, Coco. I add red bell pepper and onion to mine. I used lots of diced tomatoes, chilis, lots of pintos, some corn if I'm in the mood, and a 15 oz can of beef broth to give it some richness. Yum. It is almost chili season here. Do check out the recipes. There are some great Core or nearly Core cornbread recipes to go with it.

I'm exercising and staying OP because I've tried doing one at a time. I need to do both to lose.

Tejas 10-24-2007 10:08 PM

Hi All:

Well, I did make healthy choices at the lunch. I had pan0seared scallops for a starter, followed by an asparagus omlette. I didn't have dessert, bread or wine. Good for me; they were all available!

I am really having to spend too much time sitting on my tush and :comp: Boy, it's unhealthy! I have to make myself get up and walk around. I do, but I need more moving. After a week or so, being chained to the desk and computer should lighten up a bit.

Vickie, glad to have you back. And Coco, make that chili and enjoy. It's almost chili time here too.

Have a good night all.

Rhonda

Vickie 10-24-2007 11:57 PM

Thanks, Rhonda. I'm just trying to sneak on and not stay long so that Jim doesn't mind.

Tejas 10-25-2007 08:00 AM

Well, I've had my stone-ground oatmeal and getting ready for another exciting day sitting and :comp: or in a meeting of some sort.

I went to my oil and acrylic class last night. You know, I don't think it's for me. It's a simple matter of no talent, I think! But, I'll hang in there and see what happens. Right now, all my colors look muddy.

I hope you all have a great day.

Rhonda

Hey gals,,,,my computer at home has finally given up. I cant get on here much. Im at work right now but had to check in with you all. I wont be on much until we get a new one. Hopefully within a couple of weeks if not then I have to wait till the end of november when we get to the city.
Vickie....IM so glad to see you posting regularly again. I missed you!
What program are you following..core? I see your walking 30 mins a day..good girl!! I still am too but I have to update my walking challenge.
I got on the scale yesterday and it showed 279.5!!! OMG I have been trying since this summer to get under 280 and finally made it.....of course today when I got on the scale it showed 282...but i was there for a day and felt so good. I will get right back to it..I think I had too much sodium last night. I knew I shouldnt get on the scale this morning but you know......scale addict I am, had to..
I have to go back and check out the posts Ive missed...Im missing you all.
If I dont get back have a great weekend! Stay out of the halloween treats!

coco99 10-25-2007 07:12 PM

Hi Everyone
Well I didnt make the chili. But think I will for the weekend.
Had some lean pork chops tonight. Had to add water to cook them. Added some onion and Mrs Dash. Was pretty good. Then had some green beans with a little canadian bacon, onion and just a few slices of potato. And then added some splenda brown sugar. Very tasty. My guys really liked them.
P.A. Sorry about your computer. Hope you get a new one soon. Miss your post. I am giving out mini bags of microwave popcorn for halloween. So made a plan.
VICKIE How are you doing. That is good you are walking. I know I need to start doing some exercise myself. I know I would do alot better with the weight loss. But I just havent made myself get to it.
TEJAS Good job with the lunch. Sounds as if you made good choices. And that is wonderful you passed on the wine and dessert.
ONTARGET How are you doing. Hows the playhouse coming. I bet you are tired. But in the end it will be worth it all.
Well am going to get off here for now.
Just thought I would check in.
Thinking of each of you.

Lytricia 10-25-2007 08:26 PM

Hi everyone

I am new to the core. I had been doing the flex plan for 5 weeks and so far have only managed to lose just over 4 pounds, so I though I would try the core plan.

At my meeting today I was saying to the rep that on the flex plan I would have a hard time using up all my allotted points everyday (22) not to mention my added points that I earned from exercising (usually around 2) ...and I have never even touched my added 35 weekly points and yet I am not losing any substantial weight. They cautioned me that by not using my allotted number of points I was in fact sabotaging my weight loss efforts. Hmmmmm?

This is why I thought I would go on the core plan.

They said that even though I have the freedom to eat as much as I need to in order to feel satisfied on the core plan, I should still aim to use those 35 extra points in non core foods. Help me because I thought that was how I got fat in the first place.

So if any of you have been successful on the core plan (or the flex plan) could you please share with me the secret to figuring this out.

ontarget 10-25-2007 09:31 PM

Lots going on right now and I'm not able to be here as much as I'd like. We're mainly working to get the place ready for us to move the condo out there next week. We have an electrician coming tomorrow. We had dozer work done today. We're cleaning the playhouse and have started moving targets inside already. We have moved everything out of storage except the travel trailer. We'll prob haul it out there this weekend. That'll leave just the "condo" to move next week. Whew! I'm tired just typing all this.

I had an NSV today. Well, sort of. I climbed into the dualie bed without having to step on anything. I just hoisted my old bod up onto the tailgate and climbed in. I couldn't do that when we first got to Texas.

Eating is off but exercise is on cuz of working at the ranch. I hope to start seeing some weightloss results soon.

Coco, are you going to make that chili later this week? Sounds good to me.

Rhonda, what are you painting in class? I remember once when I took art in college we were to paint a forest scene. I spilled some paint on my canvas and just left it. The professor never noticed. That's the extent of my talent.

Vickie, I'm like you and have to do both to lose. I'm glad you're able to get on here. We need you.

Patti, :woohoo: on getting below 280. You are doing fantastically.

Girls, I am itching all over.

Lytricia, all I know is that if we cut calories too much our body thinks it's starving and automatically slows our metabolism. That's why we have to feed to lose. Have you tried small amounts every 2 or 3 hours. That often works to keep the metabolism fueled and burning those calories.

Oh! :welcome: we're glad to have you here.

Tejas 10-25-2007 09:59 PM

:welcome2: Lytricia!! It's a good board..a little quiet these days, but good people here!

Yes, they say that you should use those points. But, I know when I went back to meetings last year they really had me at too many points. I didn't lose until I cut back. It's really individual. But, Core might be better for you.

Sandra, good luck..it sounds like fun really.

Rhonda

ontarget 10-25-2007 10:14 PM

We are having fun. It's good to be working outside. I'm wanting to start planting flowers. I love working in the yard.

Vickie 10-26-2007 09:15 AM

So...Sandra....I'm confused. Where are you going to be living? What's the condo and what's the playhouse?

Did you go to WW?

Tejas 10-26-2007 09:33 AM

Morning.

Vickie, her "condo" is the HUGE trailer and the "playhouse" is the trailer that is on the land they just bought. They're going to turn it into an archery ...hmm, what do you call them? A "course"? A "lane"? Anyway, an indoor place to do archery.

Well, the weather has just been glorious here. I'm curious to see what Halloween brings. It is often cold and raining so that the little goblins have to cover up in coats over their costumes. But, not always, so let's hope they have good weather.

I'm so tired that I can hardly wiggle and, like most of us, I get "needy" and want "comfort food." Well, I'm going to rise above it and take care of myself in the food area anyway.

I hope you're all well...Frouf, come on back....where is Tech/Donna these days?

Later,
Rhonda

p.a. 10-26-2007 01:34 PM

just peeking in to say i weighed in this morning and down 2 pounds this week....
Sandra have fun playing!
Welcome Lytricia
Tejas.....you guys in Toronto make me jealous...were just happy to see the sun these days..enjoy the nice weather!
Hi Vickie
Coco microwave popcorn sounds like a fun halloween treat for the munchkins

ok eveyrone Im off for the weekend......behave!!!

coco99 10-26-2007 08:27 PM

WELCOME LYTRICIA
Hi everyone
not much happening here as usual.
Had to get a new muffler on the car today.
P.A. Have a great weekend.
ONTARGET That is great you got into the truck bed without help. Sounds as if you have been really busy. No I havent made the chili yet. The guys acted like they didnt want it. So didnt make it. So one of these days they are going to get it weather they want it or not. Is the itching stopped. Did you get poison ivy. Hope not. Have a great weekend.
TEJAS Try and get some rest this weekend.
TECHALUM Are you ok. Miss you.
VICKIE How are you doing. Hope you are doing ok. Are you still walking. Have a great evening.
Well I am going to get off here for now.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Thinking of each of you.
coco

ontarget 10-26-2007 08:42 PM

Vickie, we're confused, too. Here's the scoop:

The Condo is the 5th wheel. That's where we'll be living.
The Playhouse is the mobile home that's on our property. That's where we'll have our indoor archery range as well as a shop and storage for Curtis.
The Ranch is our 2 acres of land.
So now we're Land Barons.

We didn't go to WW. I vow to go Tuesday. I'm thinking of going Tues AM for WI but going Tues PM for the meeting. More on that later.

Rhonda, I just now saw where you'd splained all for me. Thank you. I'm too lazy to delete what I'd typed, so I'm leaving it here. I fell asleep on the front porch this afternoon. We have a cool breeze and lots of shade on The Ranch. Life is good.

Patti, congratulations. You're doing great!! I'll try to behave this weekend.

Coco, I'm having a relapse of poison oak reactions but I'm not itching as badly this time. Thank goodness!! Whew!! The itching was horrific last week.

We ate lunch at Golden Corral today. We're still burning calories working on the ranch. Life is good.

Vickie 10-27-2007 05:48 AM

Thaks Rhonda and Sandra for the explanation. I was SO confused.

Hi Patti and Coco! I'm having a great week. I went to Costco warehouse club for the first time yesterday and had some samples. I felt like I was horrible and then I realized that all I ate were about 6 bites of different things! I counted a couple of points and moved on.

Welcome Lytricia. You'll love Core. I usually use all of my 35 WPA's but I try not to use any of my AP's earned. When I work the program, it works. Good Luck!

I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes yesterday and walked through Costco for about an hour and a half. I'm still sore and may take today off of the walking....or maybe I'll get on and walk for a little while. Monday is weigh in. I'm putting it all together this week.

L.J. 10-27-2007 10:06 AM

Good Morning everyone.
I had my weigh in this morning, and another successful CORE week.
I was down 2 lbs - 116.5. Completing my 23rd week today I have lost 49.5 lbs. Actually lost more than I gained back, but that's ok :D
Found out going below the 118 was fine, can't go below 113, and I don't think I want to :D
They just want me to level off, and that would include using MORE WPA. I can get to about 27-32 sometimes, but then I feel like I've eaten so much.
So what I'll do is, trade the FF mayo for the Lite, and 1 pt bread (2 slices) for 1pt each. Things like that, not eating the points in junk foods, or 100 calories snacks, which I have not eaten since May...But I will have my Saturday night 'treat'. That has now become a WW ice cream cup, with 15 choc morsels and 0pt cool whip...which I actually weigh..totaling 3 pts. I think I told you all, I take the ice cream out and put it in a nice glass dessert dish. Makes it that much more special.
I really need to do the 35 and some of the 28 maintenence. So with my new week, starting today, that is my mission/challenge.

Welcome, Lytricia. Good Luck to you.

Sandra, I did not realize you relocated back to Texas. That's great. Wish I could relocate back home!!
Vickie, keep up on your 'honeymoon' phase. That's what had to click it my head as well. I did it for so long, I just didn't care anymore....until the lbs came back!!! I went with Core and haven't looked back since. I have made several delicious meals from the Turnaround Cookbook...Me, cooking!!!!
Rhonda, I love stone ground oatmeal. Never had it, till I coverted over to Core. The can I have actually says Porridge on it...that crack's me up.
Patti, congrats on the 2 lbs....awesome loss!!
Coco, hope things are going well with you. Hang in there.

Everyone else who follows next..have a great weekend!!

TechAlum 10-27-2007 04:10 PM

Hi All,

I'm hanging around. We got home from vacation and I've been having a hard time getting back on track. Went to ww this morning and stayed the same :(. I need to get back to eating more core, I always feel better. Plus this is my last week at work and I'm feeling kind of blue. Hopefully things will pick up soon.

Sorry I haven't been posting.

-Tech

coco99 10-27-2007 06:28 PM

Hi Everyone
Just checking in. And listening to Mickey Gilley.
TECHALUM I know how you are feeling. I have been having a really hard time getting back on track myself. But you didnt gain this week. That is great. I also know I feel so much better when I am eating core better. But I got to many carbs in. And now having a hard time getting back. Need and detoxic the body. But am having a hard time doing that. Seems everytime I get off track. The harder it is for me to get back on. But one of these days it will click for me again. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. And remember I am right here with you.
L.J. Congrats on the loss. That is great. I like the steel cut oats myself. I fix mine in the crock pot.
ONTARGET How are you doing. Glad the itching is better. How's things coming at the ranch. What are you going to call the Ranch. You will have to have a name for it.
TEJAS Hope you are having a great weekend.
VICKIE Is Costco like a Sam's club. I know at Sam's club they give out some samples sometimes. Boy they have a good spinach dip there. Wonder if you can make spinach dip and be core. Congrats on all the walking. That is great. Just wish I could get myself motivated to walk or something. But just cant seem too. Have a great weekend.
Well ladies I am going to get off here for now.
Thinking of each of you.
coco

ontarget 10-27-2007 08:36 PM

Vickie, sounds like your honeymoon is in full swing. I know it will payoff for you at the scales Monday.

Linda, what an inspiration you are. You're making me want to do better. Now that's the best compliment I can give. I am so proud of you. I want to get excited about a 3 pt snack once a week. I've been spoiling myself having whatever/whenever.

Coco, we named our 2 acres "The Ranch." We aren't blessed with major ideas, are we?

Donna, I didn't realize you were only working there one more week. Do you have another job lined up? Why are you leaving? I missed something.

Rhonda, how's your day? Did you get your walks in today?

We spent most of the day at the ranch today. Looks like we'll be moving the condo out there midweek. My son and oldest grand came over for a short visit today. We had a good time showing them around the playhouse.

I am sooo ready to start painting/remodeling. And, I am wanting to go shopping for "stuff."

Donna, we found out today that we're 1.5 miles from a local country store. Paved road all the way and little traffic. We're going to ride our bikes there once we get settled. Life is good.

Tejas 10-27-2007 10:24 PM

Hi All:

Linda! wow...good for you!

I didn't realize that about your work either, Tech. Do you have something else to go to?

Vicki, it's really good to see you back. You always helped motivate me. I'll try not to let you down!

Coco...oatmeal in a crock pot? Do you cook it for hours?

Sandra, I think I'm envious!! ;)

I've been at the :comp: almost all day, trying to finish a work report about the budget. The weather is gloomy: matching my tasks!

I didn't get in the usual amount of walking but did keep the dog out for 1/2 hour today and that was good for the two of us.

My eating has been OK. I've made a great cole slaw with cabbage, apples, shallots, ff mayo, white wine vinegar flavored with pear, a touch of Splenda, and a sprinkling of poppy seeds....delish!!!

See you tomorrow.

Rhonda

ontarget 10-27-2007 11:30 PM

Rhonda, your slaw sounds delish. I forgot to tell ya'll that I picked pecans today . Curtis shelled a few and we snacked on them tonight.

Remember Sand Flat? We are 1.5 miles from the country store that's the hub of that (Hmmmmmmm? What's the word for it?) (I got it!!) We are 1.5 miles from the country store that's the hub for that spot in the road. It's a non-busy paved road on level ground all the way. I'm thinking we will ride our bikes there; have a well-earned Diet Coke (Yes, I'm drinking them again but not drinking them like water. I'm having 1 or 2 a day instead of my used to be normal 5 or 6); and bike back to the ranch.

We should be moving out there Tues or Wed. I'll start biking them unless I start earlier. I'm also going to restart my "journey" and will log my miles from Grandview to Louisville, KY. We are probably going to Louisville for real in March. If I do this bike trip, I'll learn a lot about the trip beforehand.

Got to go. Night night.

L.J. 10-28-2007 07:53 AM

Vickie, I did want to tell you, I found the Crustless Pumpkin Pie recipe, and can't wait to make it......yummmmm
And also, I hope each day goes well for you. You are very inspirational and supportive to everyone here. It was you who made me realize Core is the way to go....no more playing games, trying to do the program the way "I" thought it should be. It's marvelous just as it's written.
I wish everyone here continued success....
Hang in there Donna...you'll be back in the swing of things before you know it.

Tejas 10-28-2007 01:03 PM

Hi All:

We went out to a breakfast buffet that DH loves. It is a source of great temptation for me. BUT, I'm happy to report a NSV. I ate only CORE, even though there were baked goods everywhere. I feel very virtuous.

Sandra, yes...wide spot in the road. Or, how about "poke and plumb" town....poke your head out the window and you're plumb out of town! And, pecans....ummmm, fresh pecans. We had two huge pecan trees in the yard in my childhood home. I just love them, of course.

Today I have to continue my :comp: but later in the afternoon we go to our ballroom dancing class. DH has a sore back and I have a sore hip from all the sitting I'm having to do. Dancing ought to just do us in!

I'm going back to my report, and drinking water now that Vickie is back with us!

Rhonda

Lytricia 10-28-2007 02:57 PM

Hi All

I have to say that I'm so impressed with all of you. When you're down there's lots of hands reaching out to pull you up here.

After to being on core for only one week, I agree with L.J. I need to follow it according to what it says and not how “I” think it should be. I weigh in on Thursday and from now until then I will really focus on following it the right way.

One of the things I am having trouble with is recipes. I would like to make something yummy that the rest of the people in the house will eat. I was looking at some of the stuff I have on hand and for instance I have light ricotta cheese and not FF so how do I count that (as points?) in a recipe or once I add the ricotta do I have to count the whole thing as a points meal? – I am making chicken stuffed with spinach and ricotta (eggs & spices etc.). I am going to fry this in olive oil to brown it and then put it in the oven to bake. If I put it with steamed veggies and a baked potato with FF sour cream is it still all core, and do I just count the ricotta as part of those 35 points per week?
