  • Paula, you're right. We have all done this before and we can do it again. I've got a long way to go.

In fact, I'm going to go change my avatar until I get back to where I was.
  • Morning Ladies!
Well the scale is looking better this morning.Had quite afew too many oatmeal ras cookies I baked with dd.Since core I havent really baked with her so it was fun.

Hey question: when do you know when a honeydew melon is ripe? is it the same as a cataloupe? kinda soft etc.I never ate honeydew much before core and i bought some pre scliced one and though they werent very sweet and more light in color than green.Probably wasnt ripe huh? Ive also been eating watermelon and finding it very good.I have hated watermelon my whole life, just never liked it unless I was preggos.I'm pretty sure I'm not pregnant but I'm finding it very good.Weird.

Vickie looks like things are looking up. glad things are settling down. The pool will be nice and such great exercise! Happy ur treadmill is getting fixed too!
I'm with you on the lean cuisine, I love them and ate them 2-3 times a week for lunch on flex.I dont see a problem eating it either.I find even when I dont eat core foods BUT having them healthy choices,I dont see a difference on the scale for me.
Rhonda- good job with walking and turning a blind eye to the bread!
Paula- sorry about the gain.Your so right about being accountable and going even when we know we gained.I did not go to WW saturday but I weighed myself at home even though I gained I needed to see it!
I would love the stroller walks but dd does not keep up so need to find someting else to do.Still havent heard about the job yet at the Y.I'm hoping they call cause I would love the membership.I'm to a point where if I do not get the job I have to choose between the Y and WW.And I do not want to do that!

hope everyone has a great day!
  • I chose the baby chick to signify my starting over.
  • Happy Thursday everyone. I did great op yesterday, journaled everything with the online tools. I'm really enjoying them so far -- we'll see if I think its worth paying once my free 19 weeks is up! My new thing to try this week -- I am NOT going to plan on using my 35 pts. I think I tend to have too much bad stuff when I allow myself 5 a day -- Of course I don't exactly measure what I'm having, its all guesstimates. Lets see if that works. So last night, instead of my glass of wine I had a nice cup of tea and read my book. I'm also not going to eat unless its been 3 hours since the last time. So, at night, we finish dinner at 6:30, I should not be eating anything at 8:00. Come 9:00 I feel its just too late to eat -- I need to reprogram myself to look at 8:00 that way.

Enough about me -- Vickie love the baby chick. I'm sorry your throat is not doing any better. Best to have it checked and figure this thing out once and for all. Its been going on too long.

Tiki, hope you hear on the Y job soon. My new thought for walking is taking Sarah with her bike to a park in town that has a track. She can ride like crazy while I walk the track. Doing that I hope to get in more than a 20 minute walk. For honeydew - I check them the same way I check catelope. Look for the non-stem end to be slightly soft and then smell it. It should smell a bit like melon. I find if it doesn't smell at all its not ripe. HTH.

Sandra, glad to see your ticker is back in the 160s!! Great work. Hope you and Curtis have another wonderful WI this week.

I have a very slow day here today. So, I'm going out at lunch for a long walk. Its perfect weather today -- mid 70's with low humidity. Tomorrow it should warm up more in time for the weekend. BBL
  • Hey Chicks! We have winds of over 50 mph today and a weather advisory until midnight. They expect severe storms to come up suddenly. We are going out for dinner....at least that's the plan for now. I'm off to eat lunch and go for my hair appointment.

    How's everyone doing?

Paula, I like your plan. I use my 35 points but never my AP's even when I was exercising every day.

I'm SO looking forward to having my treadmill back.
  • Hello chickie friends! Just dropping by to say hi and see how you all are doing. There's no way I'll ever catch up, but I don't want to be completely lost when I come back full-force in the Spring.
So far I've gained 4-5 pounds, I'll know a "real" number when I go to the doctor tomorrow. My fatigue is finally starting to lift so I plan to start walking more. We are doing a walking program at work that increases by a few minutes per day, so I'm participating in that too. I'm just hoping that I don't gain more than 30 pounds! My doctor actually said 20, but I don't know if that's possible. I'm going to try to eat what I want and maintain activity to balance things out.
Anyway I'm rambling but I just wanted to say hi. Miss chatting with everyone!
  • Hey Momma Chickie! I'm SO glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. It sounds like you are doing terrific with your weight. Not so I.

I'm getting off the computer now. It's been very windy here all day and they are predicting 80-90 mph winds tonight with rain, hail, thunder and lightening and isolated tornadoes. Apparently, this is the most severe warning ever issued in the Chicagoland area. Ohhhhh.....I'm such a scaredy cat for these things. I'll be turning the computer off in a few minutes. I'll be back on tomorrow after we come home from the boat. We decided we needed a spontaneous trip.

Jim's ENT confirmed the all clear reading on the CT scan. Apparently, there is some spot on the mandible? but it was there over a year ago and it hasn't changed. Doc says it's no where near the tongue or the glands. Jim doesn't have to go back for 3 months. Insert thankful and happy sigh here.

    Have a good evening chicks!
  • hi there, chickies. we've been running in circles today getting all ready to leave after ww in the am. we're going over near helena with our travel trailer to the state target championship. should be fun. the good thing is we begin our new week tomorrow so we'll have all 35 waps. whew! it's been a little tricky staying op this week. we had too many waps early this week and got ourselves in a jam. but we made it. i did eat too much core stuff and may have a gain. right now i don't care. i may think differently in the am when i step on those scales.

i'm going to do better monitoring my amount this coming week. life goes on.

vickie, i love your baby chickie. i've been looking for me a new avatar but the one i'm using seems to fit me perfectly. i'm a goofy gal.

melissa, what a wonderful surprise seeing you here. i'm glad you're doing well. any names yet? do we know what we're having yet?

paula, i like your plan for this week. i need to copy you. i especially like the eating times being at least 3 hours apart. sometimes mine are just a few minutes. guess that's how i got fat.

tiki, kudos for staying for the meeting. i'm proud of you.

vickie, i need to go see your menu thread and post what i had today.

i probably won't be back here till monday or tuesday. did i tell ya'll that the local paper called yesterday. they're doing an article on curtis and me for my winning that national title. the interview is tues am. the article is to run next thurs.

we're sitting here waiting on "so you think you can dance" to come on. we're both tired from all the packing. we're excited to be leaving in the am. we're ready to go out of town.
  • Sandra, have a great and safe trip and be sure to share the article with us when it gets published.

So far the storms are missing us but the winds are atrocious even for the Windy City!
  • Have fun Sandra!!!

Love the Chickie Vickie....I think I might follow your lead and see if a new avatar is in order.

Melissa, good to hear from you.

I've been having trouble getting back OP this week. I was actually aching today. I couldn't tell if it was because I do too much walking, or not enough!! Anyway, back to taking glucosomine and chondritin I believe.

I'm not going to make my goal of July 1, so I'm going to think about that and make a new goal that I will actually meet!

    Rhonda
  • vickie, i'm glad the storms are missing you. hang in there with those winds. they sound like cheyenne, wyoming's winds to me. i'll be glad to share that article. (you know i like to brag.)

rhonda, just keep dusting. it usually takes me a few false starts to get back op when i've been off. you're wise to set a doable goal. we need successes to keep us going.

well, i am definitely off here now. i'm going to turn off the laptop. have a good evening and a wonderful weekend. i'll see ya'll next week.
  • Good Evening Chickies,

I am so ready for school field trip season to end. Usually it ends the first week of June but last year MI passed a law so schools can't start before Labor Day so now they all run later.... Anyway as the weeks get later the kids get louder, we had fewer in this week than last but they seemed louder.

Didn't have a very good day today. I was hot, tired and in a really bad mood when I got home, so I didn't want to cook. We ordered in pizza. That with a couple of glasses of wine, I don't know if I feel better but I don't think I care.

Tiki - yea on the loss

Vicki - I know what you mean about the wind, it's crazy here today to. I rode to work and coming home I was head into the wind, in the lowest gear and pedaling as hard as I could and felt like I wasn't moving. I almost pulled over and called DH to come get me. Good thing I didn't he was getting his hair cut. GET THE THROAT CHECKED! you need to take care of yourself as well as Jim and the house.

Paula - yea on eating salad. Potlucks for anything always seem to attract the sweets.

Sandra - Hope you have a fun weekend.

Rhonda - Hope you're not as achy tomorrow, it's hard eating well when you don't feel well.

    Well I should go.

    Have a great day everyone.

  • PS. it's funny the comments on the picture. It's from a few years ago (before the is round of ww) and I really liked it but when I look at it now I think how heavy I look. I was thinking I need to get DH to take a new one.

  • I started typing earlier but Judd busted me and made me put up the computer. Now I'm upstairs in my little cave and can type all I want!

Reason he tried to stop me is that we had to go to the ER tonight. I was outside watering before he got home and reached into the hose reel box thingy ... when 5-6 (or was it 1,000???) wasps stung me. Immediately my hand started swelling up and since I don't remember ever being stung, I didn't know if I was allergic. About that time Judd got home so he took me to the hospital where they gave me lots of medicine. It's still very swollen and hard to type but I'll make it. Middle finger of left hand is the size of two fingers, and the swelling extends into my palm and the back of my hand. Great, huh?

Vickie, I love the new avatar! Thanks for explaining Jim's situation to me. I'm very glad that it's all okay.

Sandra, I would love to go to meetings but the only one accessible to me is Saturday mornings and I never know if I'll be working on Saturday. Our WW@work sessions have ended for now. I'm not sure what to do but hope to figure it out.

Kate's car won't start and is parked at a friend's house right now. She got a ride home, will get a ride to and from work tomorrow, then Saturday her dad is going over to look at it. He works at DFW airport (mechanic for American Airlines) and she's in Denton. Hopefully he'll be able to fix it.

I know there's more I wanted to say but I'm tired and the Benedryl is taking over. I had 2-3 stings on my finger, two on my forearm, and one on my shoulder. The finger is swollen and painful; the forearm is numb, and the shoulder just downright stings. It's the least amount of fun I had all day ... and I thought the day at work was horrible! Maybe I should have stayed there!!
  • Good Morning Chicks!

Ouch, Kathy! I hope you're ok. OMG, I would have gone crazy. I'm not sure I've ever been stung and certainly do not want to have this experience with you. I hope you're feeling ok this morning and that you stayed home from work today.

Thanks, Donna. I know I can't ignore the throat forever. It's too annoying for that. I just want a little break. We've been doing nothing but worrying and seeing Doctors it feels for the past 2 years.

Sandra, we are SO going to miss you.

I'm off to the gambling boat. Keep your fingers crossed. Jim and I are after the elusive royal flush in the quarter video poker machines! I'll be eating at the buffet which is not all Core. I'll be as good as I can be. Saturday is treadmill day.

    Talk to you all later.
