Core Chat March 12-19
Hi All:
I've started new pages, but there is a post from Vickie and a post from Coco today on last week's thread. Don't forget to catch up. I see, Sandra, it's the avatar. I thought that you had sent us a picture of yourself in your long coat! Vickie, it sounds like you had a fabulous day yesterday. That's wonderful, and congratulations on the eating. I don't know if I mentioned it, but yesterday we rented a storage space to move some of the stuff out of here that we want to have but don't have space for here. I hope this isn't my stuff owning me, instead of vice versa. I did do a serious culling of things. DH has said that he will move it. It's mostly boxes of stuff, but I don't want to have to pick up a thing. I hope when I get home from work that some of the stuff is gone. I'm tired of boxes in the DR. So, I'll be back later and see how everyone's doing. Have a good Core day. Rhonda |
Well I thought I would check back in.
And then I saw the new thread. Sorry I posted on the other. But was going by the date. Well I am going to get off here. Going to go get ready to go to town. Need to go get dog food, people food, drugstore. And also Wal Mart. I am really excited about what Patti has been telling us about Dr.Oz's book. Maybe this is what I need to get motivated again. But if I would follow Dr. Oz. Is it ok to still post on here. Hope so. But the way it sounds. It sounds similar to core. Well have a great day. Will let you know if I get my book. And how weigh in went. coco |
Hi everyone,
Posting from lobby of Tampa hotel while I wait for airport shuttle (3 pm flight). Vickie - I CANNOT BEGIN TO TELL YOU HOW MUCH I ENJOYED WICKED! It was breathtaking and amazing - funnier than I thought it would be - the staging and visuals were fantastic. Glinda was EXCELLENT -a true 10/10- Elphaba was excellent but after listening to idina menzel on my CD for so long I felt she missed the mark a couple of times (9.5/10)- I was definitely crying when they sang 'for good' and thought of you. After the show we were walking around looking for cab and happened upon the stage door where all the 'groupies' were hanging out - so we stood there and saw many of the 'stars' come by - they were so nice - signing autographs and taking pictures with their fans. Ray got some pics on his camera phone. I am so hungry as I am used to eating large quantities of food every 2 hours - dare I get on the scale when I get home? What a shock that will be! Weather here is glorious and I sat out for about 1 hr and caught the last rays of warm sunshine. Then had to repack the big bag yet again - yes I was 6 lbs over the 50 lb limit on the last flight but the nice airport lady did not charge me anything - so I know tried to redistribute and hope I did a good job! Will have lunch at the tampa airport and probably dinner in chicago airport - have about a 1 hr 20 min connection time if all goes well! Should be home around 10 pm - and do plan to go to work tomorrow altho I am still very tired from all my cruise partying - ha ha ha Will post more about the cruise when I get home. Happy belated birthday Niki. Angela - something about stitches for your little one! Hope all is well now! Rhonda - is your weather also warming up? We are expecting some nice weather in Ottawa this week. Patti - you are doing so well - congrats - and thanks for continuing the lose to cruise thread - what a great idea! Kathy - hocus pocus - hope you will magically make an appearance pretty soon! Okay - last bathroom visit then time to find the airport shuttle lady. Take care! Travelling Frouf |
Hi All,
Well, I've been on a bender for the last few days. It started Thursday with skipping breakfast then going to McD's and DairyQueen and ordering Pizza for dinner. Friday was slightly better, then Saturday I had a huge headache that lasted all day and my eating stank. Yesterday was a little better but not great, so today I'm feeling ichy and dehydrated from too little water/non-nutritional food/too little exercise :(. I know better than this, what was I thinking???????? Ok, I feel better for putting that in writing. Let's hope I can turn this around starting now. No not hope I AM GOING TO TURN THIS AROUND AND GET BACK ON TRACK! Patti - Congrats on the new chickie :D that is exciting. I liked the tips, didn't sound preachy at all. Nicki - Congrats on your loss too. Rhonda - Sorry about the fall, hope you're felling ok. And I live about as close to the city as my DH could probably handle. I actually grew up out in farm country (even though it's now a suburb and there are McMansions growing in the fields) and my family thinks this is the City. The thing is our garage is detached and at the back of the yard and since I park in the garage we have to shovel all the way back. Plus let's not forget the dogs who forget where the grass is when it snows and use the deck and driveway, so both have to be cleared. Vickie - Your posts always make me smile. Doing the best we can is sometimes all we can do, even if it's not perfect. Enjoy the warm weather while you can cold weathers coming back..... Sandra - the new avitar threw me, I used the old one to identify you, but it's really cute. Glad Curtis is home and your enjoying being together. Frouf - I can't believe your cruise is already over. Soon you will be back in the land of the north. Glad you had a good time. I have a quick question: We got a new scale yesterday and this one does body fat % and H2O%, I've never seen the H2O #s before. Do any of you have one? And what do the #'s mean? The directions had some average ranges, which I was low on (read above rant), but I'm not sure how to take it. Oh well, I've gotta go grab lunch. bbl, Tech |
hi there. we're having another laid back day. it's amazing how physically tired we are from last week. i'm still in the process of getting paperwork done and in to the olympic center for the national records i set with the longbow. i have until thursday to get everything done. what i'm waiting on is a signed by the judge copy of my scores. (i think they are coming in via my email box right now.) (hope so)
frouf, i can't wait to hear all about your cruise. i'm still in the lead for the national championship with my compound. i am in 2nd with the longbow but have set 2 national records for women 60+. three other venues are left to post. nine have already posted their results. we should know final results by wed or thurs. vickie, your day yesterday sounds fabulous. i can tell you had a good time with your friends. i'm so glad you and jim got to go help celebrate. patti, i'm thinking of getting the book now, too. the paperwork just got here. i have to go! i'll be back later to finish reading/posting. |
i'm back. all paperwork is complete. also, all but one venue has turned in results. we should know the final results soon. hopefully tomorrow.
rhonda, did you call me today and leave a voice message? someone did but i couldn't hear the name. i'm thinking it's either you or a friend from near waco who i shot with this winter. donna, i well understand binges. i'm on the brink of one now. i am sooooo excited with all the scores coming in. plus, i let myself go too long without eating 2 times today. not good when you're supposed to eat small amounts every 2-3 hours. i need to go edit my today's menu on the challenge thread. i'm proud of you for getting back op. we all have those binges every now and then. |
Evening Everyone!!
Well weigh in went better than I thought. I lost the 2 1/5 that I gained last week. And I also got my Dr Oz book. They only had 2 left. Now there is only one. VICKIE I thumbed through it a little at Wal Mart. The pictures I saw just put me in mind of a cartoon type thing. Didnt look like it would be too bad. FROUFY WELCOME HOME!!!! Missed you. ONTARGET How was your scores you were waiting on. Hope they were good. I am sure they were. TECHALUM I have been on a bender for a year now. So understand how you feel. I am hoping things are starting to turn around for me also. And all of you on this board. Has really helped me. Everyone is so good here. And they know exactly how I feel. Because they have either been where I am. Or are struggling just like me. And they support is just great. I dont know what I would do without all you ladies. Well I better get off here. Just wanted to check in. So hope everyone had a great day. Looking forward to starting to read my new book. And maybe some new inspriation and motivation. NIGHT coco |
congratulations :goodscale: coco. that's a good loss. my scores are still holding up. only one more site to report now.
|
Hi there long lost friends,
I hope that all of you are doing well. Please accept my sincere apologies for not being a supportive friend and posting here. I've been gone too long. I'm really trying to make some positive changes and things have been busy. I didn't go to weigh-in today because DH and I spent the afternoon together, but I plan to go tomorrow. It won't be pretty. But I'm down 6# since I started going to meetings. 7 weeks to lose 6# sounds like a looong time, but I guess it's progress, right? Anyway, I hope that you all are doing well. It seems like its been fairly quiet around here. Kathy, I hope that you can come back soon. Miss you! Sandra, you sound so excited. I hope that everything is working out the way you want. How are things going, podna? Forgive me for not being around. Frouf, be careful coming home! Can't wait to hear all about it. Vickie, how are you doing, friend? Rhonda, it sounds like you have been busy! I know I'm nowhere near being caught up but I just wanted to say hi and that I miss you all. I haven't given up, in fact DH and I are starting anew (for the 1000th time!) tomorrow. |
OK, just get off the bender..that's all.
I don't even know who Dr. Oz is!!!??? Somebody enlighten me. Long day....back later, or not! Rhonda |
well, no one to enlighten me about Dr. Oz....ok, I'll have to wait!
Congrats Melissa on the loss.... Good to hear from you Frouf... Rhonda |
Sorry Rhonda,,,I didnt mean to keep you in suspense..I just checked in now. Dr Oz is a heart doctor who Oprah had on her show this year...he and Dr Roizen(another heart dr.) are on PBS right now during thier fund raising drive if you want to check it out. . They have a really good book out called You on a Diet..but its anything but a diet book. I could go on and on about this..and have...haha.
|
howdy, long lost podna!! it's about time you came back. six lbs is a good loss. if you hadn't been going to ww and doing program, you prob would have gained 6, so in a way it's like losing 12. (that's the way i figure things, anyway.)
i'm hanging in there. today was rough. patti, it was that sugar stuff. i had 2 granola bars. i think that set me off like you were talking about yesterday. i made it, though. whew! prob used a few wpa's, but it could have been much much worse. rhonda, google the title of the book and you'll find the website that's loaded with info. that book sounds pretty good. i got an e from my gf in tx. she was the one who called. mystery solved. |
Good morning ladie, thank you all for the birthday wishes, I had a really nice time at dinner. My ds was so funny, his night out is usually Friendly's or Applebees, the restaurant we went to was a little bit fancy, it had candles on the tables and no booths took over a hour to get our food, everything was made fresh, so ds was just in awe and says this is the best place ever(lol),I must say they both behaved so well considering we were in the restaurant for 2 1/2 hours. I will check back in a bit, need to get ds ready for school.

Hi ladies...I'm here, just been busy with stuff. My sister and her hubby moved up here last week, and now he has to go on a 5-day business trip, just 2 days after they've moved in. Plus, they're getting some work done on their new house, so currently it doesn't have hot water or even running water in the kitchen. And then my sister started throwing up yesterday morning (their 2nd wedding anniversary), and her hubby will be gone for her birthday later this week! Crazy. :dizzy: Anyway, so I've been trying to help her out.
The good news is, dh has somewhat of a job interview today. It's with an IT recruiting firm, but the position they're considering him for is a long-term contract at a very nice, well-known company here, so it might be good. Fingers are crossed. Today he has to endure a "going away lunch" the people at work are throwing for him. I don't think most people there know the situation of his leaving. Should be quite uncomfortable for him, I'm guessing. Well, time for me to meal plan, and get out to the grocery store. The weather the last few days has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Today the high is supposed to be 70. I'm loving it. Of course, 30's are predicted for later in the week, but at least this nice weather will give us some hope of what will come. Later, Angela |
Morning All:
Angela, that's great news about your husband's job possibility. We'll all hope it comes through for him and your family. What a cute story about your DS, Niki. My sister and BIL used to take me to fancy places when I was young, and my BIL later said, teasingly, that he had created a monster because I always wanted only the best restaurants. Melissa, I like Sandra's math. I don't think that was her subject when she taught, but, it should have been! I've another long day ahead of me. So, see you later! Rhonda I checked out Dr. Oz on Google. I had heard about him and the book but had forgotten. I'd be interested in what people think about it. Today I am starting more walking since we have some nice weather. I took each dog for a longer walk, and told DH that I want to walk to the subway so he's not to drive me when the weather is good. The sun is trying to shine, there is no ice on the sidewalks, and the birds are singing. I know how they feel! |
angela, that is wonderful news about dh's job prospect. i hope everything works out for all of you.
niki, that's so cute of ds being excited about being at the upscale restaurant. he's quite a young man, isn't he? rhonda, i like your idea of walking to the subway. atta girl!! (i like my math, too.) all scores are posted now but nothing is official yet. looks like i won in compound and am 2nd in longbow. curtis and i are ready to celebrate but are waiting on the official stamp. |
Hello All,
Just finishing up lunch and trying to decide if I want to go to WW tonight. I know I'm up and I really don't feel like going, but on the other hand it might be just what I need to stop this free fall I seem to be in.....hmmm. Sandra -:bravo: Pretty amazing. Hope you got all the paperwork done. Angela - Yea on dh's interview. Sometimes contract jobs are a good way into a place, or to find out you don't want in. Hope it all works out. Rhonda - good luck on the walking to the subway. Last summer I biked to work (it's only 1.5 miles), and even though it was hard starting, I really found I enjoyed it and felt better. Nicki - glad you had a great birthday celebration. Coco - :carrot: yea on losing! Sounds like you're getting back on track. To everyone else hope you're having a great day :D. -Tech |
Hey Chicks! No time for me to catch up right now. Just wanted you all to know that Jim and I went to the boat this morning. Jim won and I lost. We needed to get out and have a little fun. I felt guilty since we have such a big expense with the fence but we just REALLY needed to have some fun. It's been a hard 6 months. We just got home and showered....to get all the cigarette smoke off...and I'm now doing laundry. It seems I have a lot to do around here. It's just me and Jim and I have a hard time keeping up. I sure do admire all of you Mom's. I don't know how you do it.
I hope you're all having great on program days. Our windows are all open since we are expecting a high of 74 today. Yesterday was in the mid 60's. Snow is predicted for Friday. Welcome to Spring in Chicagoland! I'll probably not be able to get back until morning. |
donna, i strongly suggest you go to ww today. do you have one of those passes that lets you not wi? okay, now that i've preached about your going, i need to make myself go this fri.
vickie, you and jim are just like us. we rush home to shower/laundry after being in smoke, too. sounds like you two had some fun on the boat. we need to do something for fun, too. we're meeting friends for lunch tomorrow. that'll be fun but we need to "do" something more. |
Well, the position that the recruiter was thinking of for dh was filled by the time he got to his interview (!), but he had a nice chat with her, and she's circulating his resume to a lot of places, so maybe something will come of it. I think it was nice for dh to at least get an interview, and get some practice with that.
Vickie, it's 74 degrees here currently, and earlier my car thermometer said 76. It's absolutely beautiful out...just goregeous. And by Friday, it will be in the low 40's. Ha ha. Well, time to make dinner. Angela |
Angela it's the same way here. I think it was 78 today, but 40's anticipated for Friday. I'm sorry to hear about DH's interview but maybe something even better will come out of it.
Vickie, glad to hear that you and Jim got out and had fun on the boat. :hat: Sandra, I know, I know! Bad friend! :nono: Glad to hear about your results, I hope that you have them for sure by now! Niki, it sounds like you had a really nice birthday. How fun! :) Thanks Rhonda. I like Sandra's math too! :D I still haven't made it to w/i this week, but I think I'll stop by there tomorrow on my lunch break. I won't be able to stay for the meeting but at least I'll have done the "deed." ;) Well I'm off to get somet things done. Have a good night all! |
Hi All:
I walked to and from the subway. This is something I used to do all the time, then I let DH spoil me by taking me there. I will have to get him out of that habit! I'm also going back to Pilates tomorrow after a week off for my back and hip to feel better. Not much going on here. We really had Spring here today but winter is due back on the weekend. Eating has been OK. I've been eating very lightly at dinner since I've been out for lunch everyday this week. I woke up hungry at 3AM this morning, but had some lf milk to keep me until breakfast. It won't hurt me to skip a few meals, I guarantee you! Rhonda |
Hi Everyone
What a beautiful day we had. Sun shining and a light wind. A spring day. Washed a load of clothes and hung them out. Weed a little flower bed. Still needs a little bit more done to it. And still have 3 more to go. But at least none of them are very big. So maybe if it isnt raining will work on those. ONTARGET GOOD JOB with the scores. I knew you would do good. VICKIE Glad you had a fun day. We need those sometimes. TEJAS Good job on the walking. I bet it made you feel good. Hows the hip doing. AGHIOWA Sorry about the job for hubby. But that is good they interviewed him anyway. And are going to pass his resume around. Will keep you in my prayers that he soon finds work. SEPTEMBERSGOAL Hope you made it to weigh in. And that you had a loss. TECHALUM Hope you made it to weigh in. I know sometimes I dont want to go. But I know that if I dont. That the next time I go. It could be worse. So figure may as well face the scales. And get past it. And LET IT GO!! Start anew. P.A. I havent got to read much in my Dr Oz book yet. But I did take the test. I was in the average range. FROUFY Are you home yet. Miss you. Well I better get off here. See if I can post this thing or not. Seems awful slow or something tonight. So hope everyone had a great day. Thinking of all of you coco |
Good Morning All:
I woke up just a bit before 5AM and decided to stay up. I've cleaned out some file drawers and have lots of paper to go into the recycling bin. I read in the December-January edition of Scientific American Mind that it may be a human trait to sleep at night in two stages, and we should quit fighting it if possible. The article says that left to our own, without the creation of artificial light extending day into night, that humans sleep in two stages. One stage begins after dark, then we wake up for a few hours, to go back to sleep for another four hours or so. Of course, we don't organize our modern economies this way, and lots of people have trouble sleeping. But, the argument was that, if you can, stop fighting early morning wakings and just get up and go something. I'm going to try that and quit calling waking up "insomnia." It's just waking up. I'll see how that works. I've also read that humans get their best sleep from the time they are 6 until they are 12. I guess it's downhill after that  DH took over 50 boxes to storage yesterday. (A lot of this is his stuff, by the way! It includes a great train set that I think we should save for the grandbabies.) Now, just not to go buy other stuff. I don't think we will. I've turned a corner in my 60's. I'm aiming to be debt free (except small mortgage) and decreasing my possessions. And, it feels like a good stage of life. Well, there's my early morning ramblings. Back to the filing cabinets for a while, then off to Pilates. BBL Rhonda |
rhonda, i'm in this wake up stage with you. i've been awake since about 2:30. i finally gave in and got up. i know what caused mine. i made killer brownies last night. just as they were finishing baking the schwann's man came. i lost control and bought some ice cream. i had too much ice cream and too many brownies. that fiber's killing me. darn that schwann's man. it's all his fault. i know i would not have overeaten if he'd not rung the doorbell. (just kidding. it's all my doing.)
melissa, i still haven't gotten final results. this suspense is getting to me. hmmmmmm.....maybe i can blame my overeating on that? coco, i thought of working in flowerbeds yesterday but talked myself out of it. i did go do some weight training, though. angela, i'm sorry the job was filled. hopefully something even better will come up soon. i hope dh had an all right day yesterday. that party at work sounded stressful. |
Good morning ladies, I am having a bowl of cream of wheat while I post, I have added the most delicious topping to it, it is cinnamon sugar 1 tsp is 15 cal & 0 fat. Really yummy!
That is a real interesting article Rhonda, I wake up every day at the wee hours of the morning usually between 3am and 5am and have a awful time falling back to sleep. Sandra that Schwann's man is nothing but trouble my mother warned me about men like that:D :D :D . Is your tummy feeling better? Are the final results in? I will BBL, have to make beds and drop of a couple of packages to the post office, today Ebay is having a 20 cent insertion fee, so I am hoping to go through my kids clothes from last spring and summer and start listing clothes they outgrew. |
Good Morning Chicks! I was up until 1:00 a.m. I got a letter from my friend Doug about something a couple in his church is doing to honor my friend Cindy. I cried while looking at the website and then couldn't go to sleep. I miss her so much. She was an amazing and giving woman who touched a lot of lives. http://hike.housingcoach.com/
I've got a ton to do today and I ended up sleeping late. So, I'll have to try to come back later to catch up. Jim is needing my attention. Light and love and a great on program day is what I wish for all of you. |
Well back at work - what a bummer! No one making my bed, giving me clean towels, putting fresh ice in the ice bucket, leaving me cute towel animals and a piece of chocolate on my pillow! this stinks! And let's not even talk about meals!
I am so very tired and don't know why! I need another vacation - ha ha ha. My bedroom looks like a tornado hit it - have not yet unpacked altho there are piles of stuff here and there - seems like a very daunting and overwhelming task right now - but I shall try and get a handle on it tonight. Have tons of laundry to do and summer clothes to put away. House is a mini-disaster but I am also working on that and getting everyone back into the routine! Dh very stressed as he is finishing up one of his gov contracts by month end and is very busy doing final reports and such. He seemed to manage okay while I was gone - but kids are still not that cooperative with him! I am awaiting CD w/pics from Ray as he was the designated photographer - I did have to REMIND him many times to get the camera out and ready. Already got some pics from tablemates - we at first sat w/2 other couples - very young couple (24-26) Ross and Krista - very down to earth sweet kids, then Julie and Rich - in their late 40's - both divorced w/kids - but not married to each other from upstate New York - they were lots of fun - Julie was stick thin and ate like a truck driver usually have a couple of appetizers or entrees and 2 desserts!- gosh I loved that! Then Ray and I - poor Ray was quite flabbergasted when everyone assumed I was his wife! or girlfriend - too funny to watch him try to explain! On monday night after San Juan another young couple showed up Kathy and Dan (early 30/s)- we thought they had just changed tables but it turns out there were from Michigan - flew out on day of cruise in the bad weather and MISSED THE SHIP!!! They had to spend another day in Florida - then fly out to San Juan - spend a night there before boarding the ship - when I asked if they had travel insurance they said no - bet they won't do that again - I can only imagine how much more expensive their holiday turned out to be as they had to pay for all of the extras!!!! Also met our cruise critic group - that was so much fun - we even did a gift swap - everyone brought something from their state/province and we picked numbers/gifts - would you believe I ended up with the gift from family from Canada/B.C. - and it was some SMOKED SALMON - a 1 lb box - I was so thrilled with my present of course. It was fun seeing all of my cruise critic friends all over the ship - I spent some time w/one couple in some of the lounges (when old man Ray had to go to bed cuz he couldn't keep up with a frouf!) - such a sweet lady and her husband. When we toured in Antigua we ended up w/another roll call friend (Ann from Burlington, Ontario) and had lots of fun w/her. Met a couple of almost newlyweds in line as we boarded the ship - they were getting married on the 6th in St. Thomas - how cool is that? Turns out they were down the hall from me so I saw them a lot - even having dinner in the supper club on the night of their wedding (when we coincidentally had a reservation). Okay the food was FANTASTIC esp since I didn't have to cook or clean up - our wait staff were amazing - after the first night request I always had lemon slices on the table for my water - and a decaf cappuccino magically appeared after dinner every night. We ate at the supper club ($30 surcharge) and it was worth every penny - like a big city 6 star steakhouse - the food was almost too pretty too eat! Great entrees, four kinds of bread in bread basket, 3 kinds of mixed butters, then they bring the raw steaks to your table and you get to pick what you want - and the sides - then dessert - and now you realize you cannot walk when you leave the place - very intimate small dining area w/2 piece band and dance floor - takes about 2 hours for the meal - and let's just say you need an elastic waistband when you go there. The poor newlywed bride - who was a tiny thing to begin with - said she had to unzip her gown in the back so she could breathe - and wore her hubby's sport jacket out of there so it wouldn't show! San Juan was spectacular - altho we were there late (5 pm-12 midnight) - went up to this amazing old fort - thru the dark tunnels - got some fabulous shots up top (yes I even snuck the guard girl's hat on my head when she wasn't looking - she left it on a ledge - bad froufie). They had a folkloric dance troupe there and some local drummers - very amazing show. Back to the ship later to eat and watch the shows. The entertainment by the way was EXCELLENT - great dancing and singing and real production shows - broadway medleys, and then guest entertainers would appear (one night motown, another time a comedian, then a frank sinatra/sammy davis jr singer). During the day they would have really fun stuff like the not so newlywed game which is always a hoot! (they replay all the shows and activities on the cabin tv's so you can watch them later if you like). In St. Thomas we went to Secret Harbor resort - fabulous find - small secluded beach with a resort, complete with beachfront restaurant - we found a few other Carnival cruisers there (you can tell by the carnival beach towels) - even my cruise critic friend Jane from Wisconsin (the one I got the hotel room from) was there w/friends - so we chatted a while. This is the only spot where I managed to get some underwater fishie pics (at least I hope so - have to wait til film is developed). In Antigua we toured w/Lawrence of angtigua - just the 3 of us (ray, me and Ann) in a small mini van - got some breathtaking shots from the top of the island - saw Nelson's dockyard and the marina filled w/fabulous yachts (and took a pic w/ the one that was flying the canadian flag!). Tortola I think was my favorite island - aside from the dangerous winding roads thru the mountains. So beautiful - the yachting capital of the world - imagine a turquoise bay filled with sailboats, white billowing sails in the wind - just like a postcard. Ended up on an open air tour bus w/a group of 10 (5 older couples travelling together also from our ship) - lucked out getting tour guide Romeo - gave us a very personalized tour (complete w/stops near his home at the local fruit/veggie stand so he could make an order for pickup later :D). He used to be part of a band - so before disembarking the bus he would whip out a ukelele and start serenading us - too funny - and yes we had to sing along - all the other tourists on their buses just stared - and wondered if we were a travelling choir or something! What a hoot! Then 2 lovely days at sea where my favorite activity was putting on my runners, gathering my ipod and heading out to the track on deck 11 (9 times around = 1 mile) - I can't imagine anything better than walking the track in the fresh ocean air, listening to your favorite music with ocean views all around you - I thought seriously that life could not be any better than this! and I could do this forever (okay until I got hungry and thirsty!). My cabin was lovely altho there was a nasty tap tapping/rattling whenever we went over 20 knots - loved the 2 windows and the view - had a bit of a hot water problem in the shower - but the cute italian plumber made several visits to my cabin to make sure the problem was properly fixed! :D:D Can't way too much bad about the trip - weather great - seas mostly calm - food and company excellent - I am ready to go again! Frouf |
Hi All:
Just stopping by after Pilates and before going to the office. Vickie, I read about Momma! What a wonderful piece about her and a great way to honor her memory. Frouf, I'm too tired to go to work after reading your post! I have some friends who just returned from San Juan and they sent me pics of the Fort. They sent about 100 other pics too, and the place looks beautiful. So, glad you had a good time, and a good score on that salmon. I've eaten salmon twice this week already! Gotta run.... Rhonda |
final results are still out. i guess they're giving folks time to see each venues scores so if corrections need to be made, they have a chance to do so. i hope there are no mistakes. i went to :swim: this am. now i'm home till we go to lunch with our friends. (i'm tired.)
nikki, have fun selling on ebay. when we sell bows, etc..., we get pretty excited. vickie, what a wonderful gesture. that is so nice. frouf, i am so happy you had such a fantastic time. thank you for sharing your trip with us. rhonda, we're having fish a lot this week, too. guess we're getting some brain food. i need it. |

Good Afternoon All,
Well I skipped WW. I had weighed in that morning on the new scale so I knew I was up about 5 lbs and just didn't feel like dealing with it. I did update my electronic tracker and get started on a new week today though, which I didn't do last week even when I said I wanted to start over. I know for me I need to track what I eat or I loose track. Sounds like we've all got the same weather. Yesterday was beautiful 70 and sunny, today is still warm but overcast and rainy, snow predicted for Friday. Gotta love it. Yesterday we went for a walk when DH got home, you could smell the grills going everywhere it was pretty funny. Of course we were supposed to have soup for dinner, but had grilled chicken instead. No big plans today, I've been working on sewing a couple of bags for my niece and nephew we're celebrating their birthdays this weekend. Actually 4 nephews and 1 niece. 2 of the nephew's b-days were in Feb but they came down with the flu at their house and canceled (since I didn't want to share that was cool). So now they're piggy backing on the other 2's days on Saturday. After I finish posting I'm going to run to the store and then go to Curves, I haven't been in almost a week so I really need to go. Sandra - forgot to mention that I tried the skillet lasagna you posted. It was really good thanks. Frouf - sounds like your trip was a lot of fun. Remember it took a week to pack it should take at least that long to unpack :D. I often feel I need a vacation when I get back from vacation, why is that do you suppose? I think it's because we try to do too much on vacation (go-go-go). Coco - Starting over here.... Rhonda - Sounds like you and Sandra were getting up when I was falling asleep. I started reading in bed and ended up finishing the book around 3 am  . Dragging a little today though. Angela - Too bad about the job for DH. Vicki - I read the web page, what a nice thing they are doing, and what a nice story. You were lucky to have a friend like her. Mellisa - did you make it to WW? Nicki - Have fun listing on E-bay. Well, I see I've written a book so I'd better get going. Have a great OP day everyone. -Tech |
Darn it..we should have tried harder to fit into your suitcase Frouf....Im glad you back even if your not..haha.
Vickie that is a wonderful thing for your friend. Rhonda I made salmon cakes for the first time this week...I needed a new way to eat it. It was great. Almost core, including the dill sauce that went with it. (only 1 slice of whole grain bread crumbs werent core) got my walk in early today..may be going again tonight since its still nice out. I tried a new recipe out toinght ...its so good. If anyone likes a spicy core dish Ill post it on the recipe thread. It has shrimp, bokchoy and whole wheat noodles in it...just like soemthing from a restaurant. |
Patti, I'm soooo glad you mentioned the salmon cakes again. I tried to ask you about them last week and the post wouldn't go through on the challenge thread. Would you please share the recipe and for the sauce as well? How stinky do they make the house? I love salmon cakes but Jim has always asked me not to cook fish in the house.

Hi Everyone
Well just thought I would check in. Not much happening here. Went and got the car inspected today. So that is out of the way now. I went to vitamin world and got some vitamins. Boy they were kinda expensive there. Al most $12 for a bottle of 60. Figure I could find something cheaper. But went ahead and got these. So I could get started on something. And then I thought I would ask you ladies what you like or took. What ones do you like. I was taking the weight smart ones. But I really didnt see where they were helping any. And then they have caffene in them. And I am doing decaff stuff. So ideas would be apprecitated. FROUFY WELCOME HOME!! Love the picture. It was beautiful. I am thinking of each of you. Just wanted to check in for a few. Have to go and get a couple of things done before bedtime. Hope everyone had a great day. Will be back in the morn. coco |
'Night All...I was awake so early and worked all day with no rest during the day...very tired.
Frouf, loved the picture! Coco, I take just a simple, inexpensive multi-vitamin and glucosamine with chrondritin. I used to take calcium then I read that there are big debates about how well it gets metabolized and whether it is worth it or not. I'm hoping I don't need it as a supplement. Sandra, we're hoping you are the queen....keep us informed, of course. and, Patti...I'd love the recipe also...Vickie, what do you have to do, sneak out to eat fish???? Jim would never make it in this house....I love fish!! Rhonda |
