  • Emula ~ Go for it!!! I purchased a 35.00 track membership at my local civic center and it was the best 35 bucks I ever spent.
  • Rough couple of weeks...am happy to be down a lb. I have to step it up if I'm going to make it. Hoping I am below my 137 set point and can start losing closer to a lb a week again.

    I know what you mean emula. It can seem embarrassing when you are stretching, grunting, hoping your pants aren't riding up into nether regions, praying you don't have gas and if you do, it doesn't smell, irrational fear that everyone there is judging you, feeling like a tool for not knowing how to use the machines and REALLY not wanting to ask the employee/trainer on how to use them for fear of being mocked...on and on and on.

    For the longest time, I would require someone to come with me to the gym...so I wasn't alone. Heck, to be honest, I still do. I mean, I get red in the face when my husband, who has seen every square inch of me AND has been around during my most embarrassing moments (including vomitting all over him during child birth) catches me working out in the living room. SERIOUSLY?! WHY?

    Because of your statement, I HAD to see what the experts say, you know, for sanity's sake and because you are NOT alone. Found a few interesting articles I thought I might share with you:

    I'll make a deal with you. I will go to the gym...BY MYSELF (GAHHHHHHHHH! )....today....if you will go and see about that membership. It is seriously important to point out that I have never done that. But I'll do it, for you, if you'll go.

    @Zoesmom - I laughed out loud and got teary eyed reading your post. Thank you so much for your generous offer! I really am touched that you would do that for a complete stranger! And while I will support you 100% if you choose to go to the gym alone, I totally understand if you don't! And if I can do anything for you just ler me know.
    I'm really looking forward to reading those articals as well.

  • I would like to join your challenge! Now that I have less to lose my weight loss has slowed. I am also finding it harder to stick with it on the weekends. My husband was working out with me on the weekends and that helped me stick to it but we haven't worked out together in a few weeks. I am going to have to talk to him about it

    I am setting my goal at 1lb a week. So I'll set my goal for 162lbs(-10lbs) but an ultimate goal of 12lbs, which would put at 160lbs!

  • After a not so stellar weekend, I've decided to post my weight on Fridays--that way it'll be one week since I signed up for the challenge.
