HELP!! DATE Night!

  • We're going to the movies later to check out X-Men. I refuse to sabotage with popcorn or those delicious cheesy nachos I love. I'm going to smuggle my own snacks in. What should I bring? Suggestions please.
  • Nuts, beef jerky, water, string cheese, protein bar.
  • carrot chips and fat free ranch dipping sauce, its not the absolute best, but its the healthiest think that looks like nachos and salsa!
  • If you want popcorn they have those microwave 100 calorie packs that could fit in your purse. Have fun!
  • Granola bars, sun chips (though these can be loud), fruit snacks...anything is better than 1000 calorie popcorn!
  • My all-time favorite things to smuggle are half of a dark chocolate bar (90 calories) and a bag of the 100 calorie popcorn.

I do buy a diet coke from the theatre and have them put in a shot of cherry flavoring. Although I don't know exactly how much the flavoring is, I am guessing way less than 100 calories.

The hilarious thing is, I am doing it for calorie reasons, BUT I am not looked at like an idiot (imagine the looks I get when I pull out my package of 100 calorie salad dressing at a restaurant ) because there are a lot of other people who do it for monetary reasons. I finally just BLEND IN with the crowd!
  • What great suggestions! I'm about to go look in the cabinets and put together my arsenal. I'll let you guys know what I packed.
Where do you get the packets of salad dressing? Sounds like a great idea.
  • I collect them from Zaxby's! LOL Whenever we go, they give you 2 for each salad, then you can ask for a few more.

We normally eat there maybe once or twice a week if things get too hectic for me to cook. If you take off the cheese from their chicken salad and use one 100 calorie pack, it's pretty good calorie wise. Yyou could shave off more if you don't eat the Texas Toast but my willpower to turn down bread is not that great right at the moment.

Walmart just started carrying a 0 calorie brand if you want less calories, I forgot the name but they have a good variety of flavors. I just find the packets easier to use in a restaurant.
  • Well date night never happened (insert sad face) hubby worked 5 hrs extra than he planned and came home dirty, tired and crabby. By the time he would've showered and dressed we would've ended up at a 10 or 11 o'clock showing which is not my things these days. So next time.
But I did have my snack bah stocked with. 100 cal popcorn, Special K raspberry cheesecake bar & dried fruit. And water with the sugar free drink packets. I'm prepared for next time I'm lucky enough to get a free sitter.
  • @ Niecy have you tasted the walmart dressing? There is no Zaxby's in my area. My experience with No cal dressing has been not so tasty lol.
  • Yes, there are only 3 I recommend so far....Thousand Island, Honey Dijon and the other I believe is a Rasberry type one, I used it so much I ran out last month and haven't bought another until I use up all of the Thousand Island. The Ranch and Bleu Cheese are DISGUSTING!!!! LOL Which is normally why I just go with the 100 cal from Zaxby's, because there is a lot of it. With other Ranch flavored dressings, just 1tbsp. can run about 60 cals. The brand name @ Walmart is Walden Farms and I believe they are about $1.98 per bottle.

I'm sorry you didn't get to have date night! I KNOW the feeling, my husband is in law enforcement and it' gets extremely frustrating. I missed seeing Bruno Mars recently b/c he had to work later than expected

There will always be a next time for both of us, I am sure
  • For calorie free dressing, I use Walden Farms...I'm not sure if it's the one you're referring to. Personally, I think it's great. It's nothing like the real thing, but it gets me to eat lots more veggies than I usually do and it's all completely guilt free.
  • Yes luckymommy, that's the one! I don't like them all, but the few I have tried and do like are just about as good as it gets to be zero calories.
