  • Hi everyone, I thought of a new thread idea. My hope is that these ideas will personally motivate us. I also thought that we may be inspired by the motivations of others! I will start... these are the top 3 reasons (in order) that I want to lose this weight FOR GOOD!

    1.for my health
2.to be a better and much more active mom
3.NOT to hide when I see a camera (also to have a family picture that includes me, not just the kids for the first time in a looooong time)

Can't wait to read the motivations of all of you lovely people!

  • Ooh, great thread! Here are my top three reasons:

    1. I want to break the cycle of obesity and related illnesses in my family.

    2. I want to swim, dance, and run like ****. And then do it all again.

    3. There is a smoking hot girl underneath all of this fat, and she wants to spend gobs of money on clothes, accessories, and more adventurous shoes!
  • 1. Health

    2. I want to impress people with my success with weight loss

    3. I'm just too young to be this overweight and i want to enjoy my youth more. it's more difficult to enjoy life this way.
  • Good idea for a thread. Here is mine.
    1. health reasons
    2. I want my husband to look at me the way he used to.
    3. I want more stylish clothes, than those available in Plus Sizes.
    4. I want to be at my "high-school" weight when I go back to Iowa for a class reunion (sorry, that is shallow, but true.)
    5. I want to walk the dog without my joints hurting, and huffing and puffing.
    6. I want to be a positive role model for my children and grandchildren.
    7. I want to learn to eat more healthily, make better choices.
    8. I want to be more active, in general.
    9. Somebody in another thread said they wanted "to be able to scoot down to the end of a gyn table for their exam", and I fell down laughing till I decided I wanted that also!
  • Reasons that I decided to lose weight:

    1) Health
    2) Self-Confidence
    3) Because I am sick of being single
    4) Because I told myself if I ever got to a certain weight again - that I would change my life completely.

  • A whole armful of things:
    * Being able to consider buying any clothes w/a thinking "I`m too fat for that" (Clothes must be no one thing!)
    * Not attracting snide remarks when I`m jogging
    * Not looking fat on photos (I once blamed my husband who took the photo and my mum laughed: "But that`s not his fault!")
    * Holiday/beach photos I`ll want to share with pride
    * not comparing unfavourably to other women (I know...)
    * Hubby carrying me up the stairs again
*show those who don`t believe I can ever get slim again
  • What a great thread! I want to keep reading these posts and more for inspiration when I am tempted to cheat!

    1. Better Health

    2. Have more energy

    5. To make heads turn!
  • 1. self confidence and feel sexy again
    2. have more energy
    3. health reasons

That was me...I threw that in because I will be soon having mine in a couple of months, and I remember how hard it is to scoot, more, a little more...there, and this time I want it to be easier and not so embarassing....with the paper sheet stuck to your behind....hey....come to think of it, maybe it isn't just an over weight problem...lol.
  • I know I may be losing for shallow reasons, but I'm being as honest as I know how....

My husband is the 'pool boy' and maintenance man at our apartments and he gets to clean the pool and look at bikini girls whenever he wants....I need to compete with that (in my mind anyway). I haven't worn a bikini in several years. I've always been insecure like that. I've gotten better about that though. I can't help but feel jealous a bit knowing I don't look as good as I used to.

I do miss being noticed for being attractive...it's been awhile since I've turned a head.

I want to buy nice clothes!! I miss shopping to my heart's content. Shopping for clothes is a chore now. *sigh* It's amazing how rude some people are when you are shopping in the 'wrong department'.

I also miss being able to run, jump, and climb any terrain when hiking with my family. We vacation often in Colorado and last time we went I couldn't catch my breath when we were hiking. It was sort of sad.
  • My top 5 reasons
Great thread and wonderful reasons for everyone!

    1. To remain healthy.
    2. To feel better about myself.
    3. To be active with my 8 year old and allow myself to do anything I want to do.
    4. To be proud to be in photo's and display them.
    5. To be supportive and inspire my overweight daughter to stick to her journey to be at a healthy weight.
  • My top reasons for losing weight
Great idea to get this one started... now I can just go to this part of the forum whenever I need a reminder of why I am doing this.

My Reasons for Losing this weight:

    1. So I can feel comfortable in a bathing suit w/o hiding behind clothing or objects. I want to go on all the water rides/slides (b/c I love them!) w/o feeling like everyone is staring at the 250 lb lady!
    2. I want to climb a flight of stairs w/o being OOB (already accomplished!)
    3. I want to run a 5k and look good doing it
    4. I want to knock my husband's socks off every time I walk in the room like
I did when we were first married
    5. I want to turn a head or two again just for the fun of it
    6. I want to feel strong and healthy
    7. I want to be active with my family instead of cheering from the sideline
    8. I want to feel liberated from the emotional pain carrying this weight brings
    9. So I can prove to everyone that I could do it and that the fat lady really wasn't me.
    10. I want to be able to shop in any dept store of choice that I love and miss greatly (Lane Bryant has taken enough of my $$ and limits my choices)
    11. I want to set an example for my daughter, helping her realize weight is a choice and can be controlled and that healthy living is a priority in our lives.
    12. I want my daughter to realize I respect myself enough to do this and I will make it to my goal, that we can do anything we put our minds to!!
    13. I want to finally go to the MD w/o dreading the "your overweight" discussion
    14. I want to get a bikini wax & spray tan before vacation w/o fear of what they'll think
    15. I want to be able to share my success w/others and encourage them to do the same
    16. I want to go shopping w/friends and be able to look and buy w/them, not wander over to the woman's dept to find something in my size...
    17. I want to feel as though I have control of my weight and body
    18. I want my thighs to no longer touch each other when walking etc
    19. I want to be able to cross my legs w/o difficulty in any setting
    20. I want to get a massage w/o feeling body conscious - I've never had a massage for this very reason
    21. I want to be thin and fit before my next pregnancy so I will have more control of my weight and be able to get it off easily after the birth
    22. I want to be healthy so that I have a healthy pregnancy in the future
    23. I want to look in the mirror and feel proud of what I've accomplished
    24. I want to be able to take a flight or go to an amusement park and know that the seatbelts/harnesses will fit me w/o a second thought.
    25. I want to be able to walk into my child's school and be known as her mommy, not as the really fat mommy that she always feels the need to defend. It's hard enough to be a kid these days let alone to be teased b/c your mom is fat. It hurts to hear this and I never let her see it bother me but it does. I'm tired of that and ready to get rid of that weight on my shoulders.
    26. I never want my weight to hold me back from doing anything I desire doing again.
    27. I want to feel as sexy on the outside as a I do on the inside
    28. I want to quit hiding from the camera as well! My family deserves memories of me as well as them :0)

I know it's long but each one really matters to me. I loved reading all of yours, it is nice to know I'm not alone. Keep up the great work everyone and remember, it really is worth it :0)
