  • OK, so I am in with my results, a little early but Angie and I did the Carlsbad 5000 5K here in Carlsbad, California today. A race we have done many times in the last 12 years.

My daughter and son in law joined us for breakfast at one of our favorite Irish pubs then we walked the race in a crowd of thousands! There was an estimated 10,000 walkers and runners combined in all the races today.....the walk being the largest. We stayed back and had a nice walk and visit with the kids, having to take it a bit easy since my daughter had run 16 miles in training yesterday for her upcoming marathon. Our chip time was 58 minutes...definitely one of our slower ones but we had a great time

We finished in my favorite place....the beer garden

  • Hahahaha! Angie making funny faces because she's married to you. Where would be without you guys?! Looks like a beautiful day outside!
  • Hope you enjoyed the brew - you earned it
Great pics - send the weather my way, PLEASE!

    :c arrot:.....
  • I ran 10K last weekend and 5K on the treadmill yesterday. The 10K time was 71 minutes, which works out to about 35:30 for a 5K. However, given where I was when I saw 34 minutes on my watch, I was probably at around 35:00 at 5K. BUT. I ran the 5K on the treadmill, and hit 5K at exactly 37:26. So I can only conclude that I run faster outside than on the treadmill. And I enjoy it more outside, so I guess that makes sense.

So! Let's go with 2 times: 35:30 outside, and 37:26 on the treadmill. Yay!!

Thanks for the motivation EZ! And sometimes walking toward beer works as good motivation too.
  • Gary great pics again. These are funnier than the other ones. It is so great that you have someone to do these with. So far, I go solo. Hoping to change that this summer and get a friend to join me.

I'll be back later this weekend with my results.
  • Did my 5K in 38:10!! it felt great! i was smiling the whole time

Especially when I know I am going to get Angie's second beer ticket .....used to get both my daughter's tickets but now the kidnapper gets her second one...she actually drinks about 3 sips out of a beer now...that's enough for her!

It is more fun having someone to walk with, I hope your friend joins you...then again, just a few minutes ago I returned from 3 miles...just me and my dogs and my i-pod....rockin' to Neil Diamond

  • i am new here and will do 5K tomorrow but my question is... will you make a list like you did give up numbers... and maybe you can put time next to it? So all of us will be together as a "group" with each own time? I just dont know how normally its done

That is a very good idea UNWANTED! However, I don't think it is something I will be able to do....I might be able to do it sometimes but not consistently...being new here "YOU DON'T KNOW ME" I am in construction and many times I am out of town without a computer. I need to catch up on week-ends if I get home. Sometimes it is real difficult to keep these 5K's going because of my job. I have found out that people seem to do better when they can count on certain things...such as there always being a 5K out there to train for or run/walk in. I am afraid the time it takes to post all the times could be something I would drop the ball on. Sometimes it is all I can do to get the numbers up. OH!!! and I am not good with computer stuff....my dear wife is always fixing my mistakes here for me! Now if anyone else wants to volunteer to do it...I AM ALL FOR THAT!!! I do not own these 5K's...they are for all of us...I am always open to new and exciting ways to do things....ANY THING at all that keeps us all moving forward!
  • i would love to start the list for you
