Yes, thanks j-ann. I lost what I'd gained the week before plus a wee bit more. Grand total of 26 pounds lost in nearly a year. I'm just grateful the scale has gone down instead of up in the past year. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging (what's to brag about when you weigh 274 lb?) but I just want to share with you all some of the positive things that losing 26 pounds has brought to me.
1. I can now work for long stretches of time in my garden and I'm not talking about just puttering. I'm talking about heavy, grunt work like moving rocks like I did this weekend. Yes, I still have to take breaks but not as frequently as last summer. ****, last summer I was lucky to last five minutes without pain.
2. I can tie my shoes.
3. I can cut my toenails.
4. I can climb two flights of stairs...slowly but without stopping and without thinking I'm going to die when I reach the top.
5. I can get out of a chair much easier.
6. The severe pain in my knees has gone.
7. The pain in my lower back has eased somewhat.
8. I can wear a bra without feeling like I'm strangling.
9. I can get out of the bathtub without thinking I'm going to need to have Peter call the fire dept.
10. I can lie on my back without feeling like I'm suffocating.
11. I can pick things up off the floor without having to spraddle my legs apart.
12. There's a little dent between my midriff bulge and my tummy where it used to just go out like a beachball. (hey it's not much but it's progress)
13. I have a more positive outlook on life.
14. I enjoy going out in public more.
Well, there are more but some are kinda personal.
It was a busy, busy weekend in the garden for me. I got all my containers and baskets planted up as well as my planters in the front of the house. I did a lot of hard labor yesterday and today raking dirt and setting flagstones into it to create a new patio area next to our pond/waterfall. My house is a dustbowl but I'm hoping to tackle it tomorrow.
Bunny - love those socks. WOW!! Dazzling.
Terry - sounds like you've been a busy outdoor gal too. If you're like me, you just have to set foot out the door and you find a gazillion things that need doing. I wish I could clone myself sometimes, just to get some help with the garden.
Donna, your quilts sound wonderful. You must be very talented.
I know, I said we didn't have to send personal messages, but I just couldn't resist. But, please remember. Nobody HAS to write personal responses to posts. You don't have to feel guilty if you just don't have the time or wherewithall to do so. Just keep posting so we know what you're all up to.
