  • I didn't... I wish I had, but our group was too 'cool' to go to the prom... that was 1977 and every Spring it bothers me. A couple months ago I got an email from a friend who also passed on the chance to go to the senior prom... She was getting ready to send her step twins to their prom and was feeling sad about her decision. Then I got an email from her relatively younger DH as he is planning a 'surprise' prom for her, (ya, he's a keeper) ... a lot of the old group who were too 'cool' in 77 are going to descend upon the 'mock' home-prom ... We found 70's dresses and tux, doing our hair in 70's styles.. Couple of mixed CD's.. Earth Wind and Fire etc. what a hoot ... perhaps a little drinkie under the bleachers before and a smoke in the girls room... who knows...The funny and kinda sad thing is, as in 1977, I don't have a date Oh the misery of being a fat kid.... I'm going stag, as I should have in 1977... Oh but don't worry... I'm working on being a healthy adult... and bound to find an awesome guy someday soon.
  • That's so fun!

Yes, I went to my prom. It was OK.
  • What fun!!
  • No, I didn't go to mine. I didn't want to go "stag" and started dating a guy shortly after from my school who also didn't go. We both wished we had met earlier. But, I don't regret it.

Your party sounds like so much fun though! You've got to take pictures!!

My daughter isn't going to hers this year and I told her that I didn't have any regrets. I hope she doesn't either down the road.
  • OMG that sounds like so much fun!!!
  • I didn't go because my arms were too fat. I was 145lbs at 5'6" and my arms were too fat. LOL. That and I had a cheating bf at the time.
  • The prom sounds like so much fun! Have a great time! I did go to my prom and had a really good time.
  • I went to my prom and it kinda sucked. But our after prom party that ended up lasting 2 whole days. That was kinda fun! We camped out had a bonfire, toasted marshmallows and roasted hotdogs. And, yes, I will admit there was liquor involved but I think that is almost standard at after prom parties.
  • i had to miss mine because i was working at a camp that required me to be there before my graduation (my prom was really late in the year) but went to someone else's, and it was terrible.
i was like 118 lbs at the time, though, skinniest ever, and i looked HOT in my size 2 dress!!

  • I went to mine. My date was a jerk. I later married him. He's a much better husband than prom date )
  • I didn't go to mine. I worked up the nerve to ask a good (and only) male friend of mine but another friend of mine had already asked him like 5 months in advanced. I still am super sad that I didn't go. I was 260 pounds and didn't know squat about dancing, so I think it was a good thing I didn't go. Still sad about it.

    Still can't dance LOL
  • I went to Junior Prom when I was a freshman...we were driven there in the back of a bug (classic 70's bug - not the new roomy ones) by his grandmother...I didn't go to anymore proms after that fiasco...

  • Our school had proms Junior and Senior year.

Junior year, a bunch of us who weren't too into the whole prom thing decided to be creative and develop our own "Prom Night Adventure". The 20 of us dressed up semi-formal and rented some limos... we went out to a nice dinner, a music/light show at the planetarium, bowling, and then when we got kicked out of the bowling alley we went to a coffee shop for cocoa and cookies. It was a blast.

The next year I took my boyfriend (now DH) to my prom... it was pretty boring. I got the nice dress, had my hair done, did my nails and make-up.. that was probably the most fun part of it. The limo ride with 8 of our friends was cool... and all 10 of us spent the night at one girl's house, hanging out and chatting. It was nice.. and for most of us, the first time we were allowed to sleep over with the opposite sex, lol.
  • I didn't go to my prom. I didn't want to have to buy a dress at 210lbs so I didn't go. Incidentally, it was on my 18th birthday so my mum and sister and I did something else that night. It's not that big a deal and I don't really regret it...but it would've been nice not to have just gone without having to worry about my weight. I did have a great night though
  • That faux-prom party sounds AWESOME!!!

There were formal dances Sophmore, Junior & Senior year. I went to all three. I went with friends as "dates". They were nice. The dances weren't super awesome or anything... but I'm glad I went! And I love to dance. I can't do it well mind you, but dancing is fun!
