Quiet day ahead of me--just a few loads of never ending laundry and some general cleanup. Praying for rain because my lawn is brown and my pumpkins are going nowhere fast.

Quick morning hello, off to get the eggs fried and the chicken salad made and jump in the car. A big paperwork day today, but it should go quickly.

Did OK yesterday, ate some collage cheese and 2 canned pear slices in the evening, but that wasn't bad for the day. Today is beautiful, sunny and clear, I hope to read outside at lunchtime today, or maybe after work.

Gorgeous and cool here but we sure need rain. I am off to Ottawa this a.m. to do a bit of shopping, some lawyer stuff and then will meet some former colleagues for lunch at a classy golf club. We will lunch on the patio and, after about 20 mins, they will start with the shop talk. I'll just sit there and purr, thinking of how I don't miss work one darn bit!

That should just about fill the day - 3 hours driving, 2 hour lunch plus the other stuff.

The twins are doing great, 10 weeks old as of tomorrow but I'm getting lonely during the day now. I venture out with them some but it's really a chore to figure out when to leave thehouse, since they feed every three hours!

Enough babble about that...

I'm trying to decide what low carb diet to try, I'm so confused!! Maybe ww with low carb is a good idea, but I need quick initial weight loss in order to stay motivated, so maybe go strickt atkins for a while?

Help me out ladies!

Tracey, bless your heart, two little babies! If I lived close by I would volunter to come over and play with your babies. My youngest is 15, she doesn't like to play with Mom anymore As for which plan to follow, I don't know what to tell you. Which books have you read?

peachie, any news on Jiff? How are you holding up, taking care of yourself, I hope?

Here it is the third day of school and my daughter is upstairs in bed. Poor thing, she sprained her ankle last night at band practice. She finished the practice, but could hardly walk to the van.

My hubby won't be home from Japan until Tuesday. He told me yesterday, that he will never eat at our favorite chinese restaurant again. He had the real stuff and it is sooooooo goooood!!!

Only plans I have today are house cleaning, YUCK!

It's great to be able to get up and on the comp early enough to join you all for coffee,,,,I usually dont drink coffee, but hmmm, hazelnut does sound good.....

DH still cant see since surgery, but doctor said another 10-14 days, so fingers are crossed!!!!

OUr daughter starting highschool had to go to the school this morning for book sale,,,Hopefully we can get most USED books, they are a lot cheaper than the brand new ones..... then she has to stay and do the cheerleaders fund raiser so that should keep her busy for most of day......

Tracey.....either one of those programs are good, I guess its just a matter of trying them to see which one works best for you...I have done just about every diet out there and for me, right now at this time, the atkins works.....but in a year from now, who knows, I may find that CALP works...so right now anyway, Im doing atkins....but I do know that WW is a great program and some of the wonderful people over here are modifying it with a lowcarb menu....so that might work also.....if you do atkins. please read the book, then try it for just 14 days and see how you feel.....Good luck!!!

Hazelnut is my fave too, but have been avoiding flavored coffee since I haven't been able to find carb counts. Does anyone have any ideas?

Pooky - Hope you get the rain you need & I hope you were able to get some sleep! A home grown pumpkin for Halloween sounds cool (not to mention pumpkin pie )

Tracey - Good luck finding a plan for you. I'm on Atkins & really like it. Search the net & read up on the different plans, then buy the book for the one you think will work best for you. And good luck with those babies.

Debkay - DH & I always said that we would be really skinny if we lived in Japan because some of the things they cook on "Iron Chef" sound really gross. Guess they taste better than they look! I hope DD is feeling better. I broke one ankle & sprained the other (don't ask!) & the sprain was much more painful than the break.

Thanks for your words of welcome to my intro message -- I'm still trying to figure out how things are done here on this site AND with these threads. (for instance, what would be the difference in content between the daily thread, and “#4 Low Carb Support?”)

Tracey, I give you a lot of credit. One of the hardest things about being a new mom is that there CAN BE a lot of loneliness at first, and very few women (or their families/friends) want to admit it. This is especially true if you held a paid position just before delivering – it can be hard not to have those kinds of interactions with other adults on a daily basis anymore.

Just remember, you’re in a transition, and you will be for several months. It’s OK if you’re not deliriously happy every moment of the day. Feeling tired, or icky, or occasionally unconfident does not make you “bad” or mean you love those babies any less!

As for eating, I can’t recommend one low-carb method over another. I did well post-partum with The Zone, and am trying to adopt those eating habits again. The best part about it was how much energy I had, and am starting to feel some of those benefits this time, too. It was a little hard to learn, but after I got it figured out, I found I did best when I stopped obsessing over every little gram, or how often I was eating, and just listened to my body. That’s probably true with most of the low-carb methods

That being said, I will mention that when I need a jumpstart after falling off the wagon, I completely cut out all bread, pasta, potatoes and rice for a time. It’s not as hard as it sounds – after 2 days it gets a lot easier, and you will find you just don’t crave it anymore.

Well, I’m at work, thinking about my house in a complete state of disarray! I’m having a yard sale on Saturday, and every room is filled with boxes of junk. That’s right – as soon as my kids leave I’m getting rid of their stuff!

to say howdy! I've had to keep this body moving today to avoid sitting idle and munching! So far, so good. I think I have a carb hangover from inhaling all those wonderful chip aromas yesterday! Inhaling doesn't throw me off plan does it?

I had unexpected company until almost one o'clock this morning! Urrggh! I had planned on cooking for the four of us with a little extra in case one of the adoptee "kids" came looking for a home cooked meal (which happens regularly around here)! Good thing as I ended up feeding ten people last night! I was dragging at 5:30 this morning getting DS up for school! Aw...but life is good!

Just wanted to respond to Bes's question about the content of this thread and the #4 Low Carb Support. This one is more about personal matters and what we're all doing in our daily lives without focussing totally on diet. I believe the LC Support thread is more intensely focussed on the diet....well worth reading all the posts because the Chicks who post there are really motivated. Great to read about their success.
This morning I went swimming but was too tired to do much of anything except paddle around and yack with my swimming pals. We were at a different pool and the water was much warmer than the other one we usually go to...almost like a bathtub so not very invigorating.
Then home to watch Y&R, had a bit of lunch and then off to my daughter's to get my hair cut. Oh joy, oh joy! I feel like a new woman. When I think that it took me over a year to get it just to the point where I could put it up into the worlds tiniest ponytail and a French twist that had stragglers and gave me a headache I can only say, Thank God for short hair! I believe it has taken 10 years off my face and it sure is cooler. I was convinced to have it cut last night when I told DH that I was going for a hair trim today. He said "It's already too short". This after my yearlong struggle to grow it long for HIM! So I said "Pooh on you". I'm convinced he wouldn't be satisfied unless it was down to my bum and that would take me another 50 years. Besides, who wants to see a middle aged lady with long straggly locks?
Yuck.
Too warm to do anything outside and without A/C I just keep the house shut up tight until evening.
