  • WELCOME !!!

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
    We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.
We often use a "Topic of the Day" for discussion.

    Motivational Monday
    Tuesday Tips
Wednesday Wish List .. and What you are doing to obtain it.
    Thankful Thursday
FUN Friday ... don't wait until you lose your weight.
Sit-up Saturdays - any physical activity
    Share your Success Sunday

These are not required topics ...just ideas to share. We often find them very helpful. We also share heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

    WELCOME!

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

  • Thanks everyone for your well wishes and kind thoughts! It's very much appreciated. Please know that everyone here is in my thoughts as well - here's hoping everyone has a great week!

I'm still catching up on all the posts, so forgive me if it takes me a bit to start posting to individuals. Congrats on all the losses, accomplishments, and ability to keep on trekking!
  • Ladies! I got the pictures done. Here's the website of my backyard project!

It's got a few bugs that I need to fix, but it's pretty much done. I hope everyone will be able to view it. It's flash and it may take a bit to load, I believe it was about 2 megs big.

Here's the link to my project journal with photos

    My backyard project

It's not done yet, but at least we got it started. Still got a long way off before it's done. In somme of the pictures you may be able to see the wooden fence that the neighbors dog has been eating hehehe so we are tyring to get estimates on getting it replaced with a brick wall. That's our next project.

Mertz – I am working on the puppy pictures lol

    Eeyore –WELCOME

Tashabella – Hey there. Yeahh I used to live out in Ohio from 85-91. (Dayton/Huber Heights area) I remember all the tornado drills we had to do hehehe, I remember when a tornado hit Xenia. Gotta love Mother Nature! Must always let us know she’s around hehehe.

Biggirl – HEY! Congrats on that 8 mile walk! I think I would have been in tears for sure!

Jillybean – I agree about being busy usually means less time for snacking. Sometimes I ever forget to eat heheheh… but definitely helps with the snacking!

Lilion – Ive had vacations like that, mainly where we did nothing but work. My last major vacation was up at Pismo beach (I love it there). We spent 5 days out there and I ended up being sick for about 3 of them.

Well ladies… I think I’ve fallen into a slump. I haven’t been getting my exercise in. After that full weekend of yard work, I’ve been sorta suffering from the “Blahs” My eating could be better, but I have not been over eating. I just gotta get my exercise up. I weighed myself again… lets just say I’m moving in the wrong direction. Oy… You know I always thought that not having a lot of time and keeping busy would keep me from snacking. It does, that works well… but it doesn’t help the exercise situation. Hoping this summer will give me time to gather myself and figure out where I am again. I guess I’ve hit a down spark. I was doing good for a while. I can do it again, I just gotta get myself out of the slump. School has really burned me out and it’s sorta affecting everything. You should see my bedroom. I have books and papers and materials all over the floor.

It was a good weekend… for everything to go berserk Lets start with Saturday. Saturday James and I witnessed a hit and run and we followed the guy and got his license plate number. Then when we head about the accident scene, the lady was leaving and we had to chase her down also heheh. We gave her the info we got, including the time and place we found the car that hit her and as well as our phone number. Then we were supposed to go pick up some tools and get an idea as for how much it would cost to build a deck around our pool (James is going to build it himself). But we ended up locking our keys in the truck. YES! WOOHOO way to go So we went home after that did some house cleaning and took a dip in the pool.

Now, Fathers day, it all started at 9:00 a.m. Our neighbor lays cement and we asked him to come by and give us an estimate for a cement driveway and brick wall. Was not expecting him at the time so we were about to jump in shower and had to scramble to get decent and so we are waiting for his friend to call us to schedule an appt for our brick wall. Then after he left about 9:30 the door bell rings and it’s the neighbors kids looking for Brittny but she’s at her moms. After that our phone and doorbell were going off like it was grand central station. I was like, holy cow! We’re not home go away hehehe. Then we spent the rest of the day looking at loft beds for Brittny. We’re trying to make more room in her bedroom. So we looked at a loft bed where the bed was lifted and underneath there are drawers and desks and storage. When we got home, my nieces came over to swim with Brit since we got her early for Fathers Day. When we were about to get into the pool… my dad calls and says hey can you come save me my car died. My parents were looking at new homes and his battery died. So we went to go jump his car battery, but ended up having to take it out and buying a new one. When we got done, I gave him a hug and told him Happy Fathers Day!

    Interesting day!

Hope everyone is doing well. I’m gonna go clean house!

    Take care everyone…

    Sue…
  • SueMarie: The pictures are great! Especially the last ones. Sooooo refreshing!
  • Ok, so I figure I should jump back in here and post an update. I am sticking with WW have gone the last 3 weeks without fail (doesn't sound like much I know, but for me its huge.)

I have lost 10 lbs, and am trying to work in exercise whenever I can.

Saturday here in RI was Gay Pride so I danced my butt off for 3 hours straight. It was a blast! I paid for it a bit on Sunday as I didn't get home until 3:30 AM and had to get up for my meeting by 9AM , and goddess only knows that when I first lay down I toss and turn for at least a half hour.

But the rest of the day was great....I am in the process of getting rid of a cold, which sucks because my throat is absolutely killing me from coughing my lungs out. But alas one thing at a time.

    Happy Solstice and Full Moon!!!
  • I needed some kind of change, so I dyed my hair. I was planning on burgundy, but it turned out a little. . . bright! But I'm cool with it. I think it suits me. I'm getting a mixed reaction out of it, LOL. Maybe I'll post pictures in the picture thread.

I am in serious need of buying new pants, so I bought a cute pair of jeans and a new shirt at Family Dollar ($25 total, not bad). I didn't try on either one, as they don't have a changing room. I was a little nervous about the jeans being a 24, but they actually fit me pretty decent. Whew!

My boss has been on my case about my last test for the CDL but I've run into all sorts of red tape trying to schedule it. That's probably why I've been avoiding the Y like the plague, but I really need to just go there early so I can start working out again.

I decided to weigh myself today (something I hadn't done in many weeks now) and it seems I've actually lost over a pound (and that's with my shoes on. . . the scales were wet so I didn't want to take them off, LOL).

And I was thinking I had totally let myself go in these past few weeks, but. . . size 24 jeans (as opposed to 26/28)? No weight gain? Wow. There may be hope for me yet!
  • Hello all! This will be a hit and miss week for me. I'll try to jump on during my lunch hour. I am the "Recreation Leader" for vacation bible school this week, so not much time at all. After I get home from VBS, I grab the pooches and head out for my 2 mile walk. I didn't do my WI on Saturday. Aunt Flo made a four day early, very unexpected appearance on Friday and literally threw me for a loop. I had cramps down into my knees and blew up with about 5 pounds of water. I didn't want to face the scales, so I didn't. I also didn't stay OP. I didn't binge by any means, but didn't keep track of points either. I made myself go to my water aerobics class Saturday a.m., and did my 2 mile walk on Sunday, so hopefully when this bloat goes away I'll at least see some change.

Tashabella - Hang in there with the car troubles. I agree with Lilion that it does sound like it may be fuel filter issue. I'll be praying for you.

Lilion - What a horrid experience. I am so sorry. Vacations are suppose to be relaxing and yours was anything but. Also, I'm really glad your puppy is going to be okay, and also very impressed that the owner of the other dog is taking responsibility. So often times they don't.

Shadie - 13 pounds! WOW!!!!You are definitely the "biggest loser" this week. Keep up the good work, girl! You are such an inspiration.

Synn - Glad to see you back!

SueMarie - I can't wait to see your pictures. I tried to get on, but it's blocked by our "Sonic Wall Filter" here at work. Will try to find time to squeeze onto my 'puter at home and check it out. A pool - ahhhh, I am so jealous!!!

Thin - I'm really sorry your hubby didn't get the job. I know it has to be so frustrating to have waited that long, all for naught. You never know, maybe he didn't get because something better is going to come along when you least expect it!

Esmaraude - I remember the total courage of youth! I bet your hair looks great! As I'm a "more mature" woman, I go with some blonde highlights and that's as far as I have the courage for! Good for you!

eeyore - A big warm welcome to you! You will no doubt find the encouragement and inspiration you need here. I know I have!

Biggirl - An 8 mile walk - and for a good cause. Take pride in yourself for that one and big kudos to you for doing it!

To everyone one - I must run and get back to work. Take care and take it one day at a time. We'll get there together!
  • Hello ladies – how are you all doing today? I hope everyone had a nice evening yesterday.

So – I know that I am only 6 whole days into this weight loss journey, and I already have a confession to make! Yesterday I was bad. I won’t go into full detail but when dinner time rolled around – I just couldn’t stay OP.

Breakfast & lunch are always easy for me because I am at work all day. But the moment I get home – I just feel so darn comfortable that I don’t want to diet. The first few days I was okay with it – but yesterday I just couldn’t stand to eat a piece of chicken for dinner!

After it was all over – sure, I felt bad – but I also realized that it was not the end of the world and I probably didn’t do as much damage as I was thinking.

I just wanted to confess that yesterday wasn’t perfect, but it gave me more motivation to do better.

So today I am looking forward to an OP day. I also decided that I would incorporate more fruit into my diet, since I’ve only been eating it 1-2 times per day.

So for breakfast I had: 1 Light & Fit Yogurt, 8 medium strawberries, and a Slim Fast Breakfast Bar.

    For Snack #1 I packed: 1 plum

For lunch I packed: ½ turkey sandwich with 1 tsp mustard, 1 peach, and one Slim Fast Lunch Bar.

For Snack #2 I packed: A snack sized baggie with seedless red grapes.

For dinner I will have: Shrimp with cocktail sauce, a small baked potato, and some frozen fresh veggies.

Snack #3 will be: Mini bag of Popcorn or Slim Fast Snack bar or piece of fruit

This morning I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and met my aunt at the gym at 5:00 a.m. We had a great workout! I was really surprised that there were so many people at the gym so early in the morning.

I walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes, rode the stationary bike for 5 minutes, used the elliptical for 5 minutes (which was 3 minutes longer than Sunday) and then worked out on various machines, alternating between arms & legs for about 15 minutes. We finished up with a 15-minute cool down on the elliptical before leaving. I felt great afterwards. We are going to the gym tomorrow morning at the same time.

There is one thing I noticed after the gym. I've had this ONE stretchmark on my left shoulder that I've had there for over two years now. It's never gotten any bigger, or changed any, but after the gym today I noticed that it looked like a scratch. It's red in color, and looks funny. I've only worked out twice so it's not like I'm building huge muscles or anything but I wonder what would have caused it to turn color like that? Any thoughts?

I’ve also decided that I am not going to weigh in this week. I think that I am going to wait until next Friday. I don’t feel as if my diet has been sabotaged this week, but I just don’t want to be disappointed on my first weigh in. I’d rather wait and get past the two-week mark.

I’ve also been good about drinking my water. I pulled out my big 64oz. mug from Wal-Mart and filled her up! I’m about half way through drinking it. I should be drinking about two of these each day – but I don’t want to push myself too much at first. We’ll see if I can get down these remaining 32oz.

eeyoredja – I have not yet tried the ‘Coke Zero’ but I have tried the ‘Diet Coke with Splenda’ and I think that it is great! I could never drink Diet Coke because it left a nasty after-taste in my mouth, and even felt like it was burning the back of my throat. (Come to find out that was from the aspartame.) Now that they make it with Splenda, I think that it is great! And your hubby does sound like a wonderful man! My fiancé tells me that he loves me for who I am and would love me regardless of my size, but sometimes I’m not sure…LOL. (That’s just my insecurities talking!)

shadiepurple – WOW – what can I say??? AMAZING…PHENOMINAL…WONDERFUL… YOU ROCK!!! 13 lbs of GOOEY FAT is gone forever!!! You must be feeling so great right now! You should be so proud of yourself! Weigh to GO!!!

futurediva – Please don’t get discouraged…you sound like you are doing great with everything!!! I know how it feels when you feel like you will be stuck at one weight forever. You will get to where you want to be – and we will be here to help you! (Now for the butt kicking) GO GO GO!!! We’re going to motivate you!!!

JuleeCeeS – I LOVE the Light and Fit yogurt but had no idea that they had one with extra fiber. I’ll have to look at the grocery store next time I go.

SueMarie301 – I am soooooo jealous! Your pool is awesome! Can’t wait to see the finished pictures! One day (when I can talk Ricardo into it…) I will have a pool of my own!

synn1977 – 10 lbs in 3 weeks is GREAT!!! Sounds like you are really working hard – and you are seeing results! Weigh to go!!!

esmaraude – Awesome!!! 1lb loss is great and you got into a size 24 that you weren't sure about!!! See…you were expecting the worst – but it turns out that everything worked out for the better. Keep up the great work!!! I’m sure that your current results are motivating for you!

I know that all of you here are very motivating to me! It’s nice that we can come here everyday, talk about the things that are going on in our lives (good or bad) and get such great motivation from each other. You are all wonderful, and thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your group here!

Well – I must run now. I have some projects to finish up and then I’m outta here!

    Have a wonderful day!
    - Kari
  • Hi everyone...today is the day...I am gonna be strong here...I am offering up my jeans that are now too big for me. I adore them...they are baggy and to me that is perfect...however they require a belt and I detest wearing one and I want them out of the house...I don't need the reminder anymore...I have several pairs of Old Navy and Lane Bryant jeans all size 26. Some have been worn lovingly (aka not quite worn out but would make good work in the garden jeans) and some I barely wore at all. I will ship them out to you. PM me or IM on AOL (lunarastar22)...and if anyone has any sz 22's and wants to get rid of them just let me know
  • Good Afternoon Ladies!

Haven't had much to say today. I've been busy, busy. Since the SCA Camping event is over I now have a renaissance festival this weekend. (They are totally different things...but I won't bother to explain) Out local library puts on a renaissance festival each year, in cooperation with the Renaissance Festival of Kansas City. (It's kindof a work-out-the-kinks dry run for them.) It's a one-day event, but mega-huge for this little city. We get around 8000 patrons in 4 hours! Anyway, I'm a volunteer on the committee and the merchant coordinator. It always gets wild down at the wire like this. And, of course, I'm doing it from work while trying to not get caught - well - not working!

Like I said...not much to say, but Shadiepurple: Way to go!!!

I know everyone is all excited about the new Coke products...but I'm quite the opposite! I've drank nothing but diet sodas since I was 15 and I'm totally addicted to Diet Coke...I even switched to Caffine Free Diet Coke for the most part, rather than give it up entirely. And I just can't stand the taste of regular Coke - WAY to nasty-sweet! So I'm hoping they don't move entirely to the Splenda version...it just isn't right..too much like regular Coke...which I wouldn't drink if you paid me! (Call me crazy...but I like the burning thoat effect!!!) I swear I'll switch to Pepsi if they do!!! I can't be the only person here is loves Diet Coke just like it is, Am I?

Well, back to work for a few. I need a nap!!! But that'll have to wait.

Oh, and the doggy is indignant about wearing the lamp-shade thing on her head, but otherwise okay! I'm really glad!

    Onward and downward Ladies!
  • WooHoo...thank you Solus for taking the jeans!!! Now I will have room for new clothes
  • This is why I have no friends...

So I was browsing EBAY for Tshirts that would fit me and came across this shirt that made me laugh REALLY HARD!

It was 4x....4x now! and....it said on it....Anorexia Survior

And I pictured myself wearing it into work and when someone read it and then gave me that "WTF" look, saying "I'm not fat, I'm a... (deep, breathy voice) survivor!"

    *sigh*

No one understands my perverse love of irony.
  • I should be thanking YOU Theotherjen! Thanks!
  • Not a problem...I think that shirt is fabulous...I used to kid around and tell people that I was reverse anorexic and I was just hollow and not fat
  • LOL @ Anorexia Survior T-shirt...

Where can I get one??? LOL The people at my work would love it!!!
