Mine are 5, 4, and my youngest just turned 1. I basically decided that no food is "off limits", because I don't do well when I restrict myself that much. I filled my kitchen with lots of fruits and veggies, and anything bread-like is whole wheat only....it seems to be working, and my kids like the 'new' stuff I'm making

I certainly agree about the burning more calories than taking in!
