Starting CORE today

  • Hello Everyone:
I am new and doing CORE for the first time ever. I am looking for groups to help me be successful with the program.

What do you like about CORE?
What was the hardest thing for you to get use to?

I hope to find some people to connect with on this program.
  • What do I like about CORE?
I love being able to eat when I'm hungry. When I did flex, I was so concerned with staying within my points, sometimes I went hungry so I could have a normal supper. Also, on CORE, I'm making better food choices...MUCH better. I feel so healthy, eating whole grains, fruits and vegetables. In 4 weeks, I've lost 7.2 pounds without ever feeling starved.

What was hardest to get used to?
I wasn't sure about the whole grains and beans in the beginning. I've always been a bread-a-holic, and I wasn't sure I could do without them. But I don't even miss them anymore, which is amazing. It is also hard some days to go without sweets and fats, but you pretty much have to do that with any diet program! And the first week or two on CORE, I had pretty bad gas (sorry to be crude!) - probably due to the increase in fiber. But everything's fine now.

I wholeheartedly endorse the CORE program. If you follow it faithfully, you will feel more healthy, and you will lose weight.

Glad to see you here! Welcome, and we look forward to hearing more from you.

  • Hello, Disney! I second everything Angela said. I've 131 more pounds to go. I started Core in September and I've lost 18.6 pounds so far....I must say pretty painlessly. On Flex, I made bad choices. No fruit, no veggies so I could eat pizza. I'm not doing that on Core. As Angela said, I eat when I'm hungry. I was worried about learning to stop when I am satisfied but that hasn't been a problem. I don't worry about stopping because I know that when I'm hungry again in another hour or two, I can have more to eat! It's a great program. I love carbs and bread but don't miss it too much. When the craving gets really bad, I use some WPA's and AP's.

I love not being starving from meal to meal AND something of a chemistry nature happens. You lose lots of inches.....even more so than the pounds would seem to indicate. You do have to drink alot of water and exercise to get your best results.

Come join us on the Core Support Board. There are some really wonderful women on there. No sniping, no catiness, just helpful support. No Core police either like on the Weight Watcher boards.
  • Thanks! I will join you on the Core board. I am thinking today I would like the core better than flex. I have done flex but would sneek in sweets and stuff. But this time I want to be healthy and not eat so much junk.

Today I feel as if I have not eaten much. But I was busy and not hungry. I am also making dinner and lunches for tomorrow. I think if I plan carefully I will be doing okay.
  • Welcome Savin4Disney!
I've been on Core since Sept., and I LOVE it! I've lost 21 lbs. without suffering too much. I love core because I don't have to right anything down and I hardly ever go hungry. I did WW before when the points program was called 1-2-3 Success, and I was always starving! Looking back, I know it was because I used my points for refined foods and other non-filling stuff. Now I make much better food choices because I have the core food list to guide me.

The hardest part for me is baked stuff like cookies, cakes and pies, especially at this time of the year. Christmas and baking different types of cookies has always been a tradition of mine. The other day I was leafing through my favorite cookie cookbook and crying! I hardly miss bread or white rice though (I'm Asian so the white rice was hard at first). I have a sweet tooth, and desserts haven't been much of a problem (Thank You Splenda!!).

    Good luck and welcome again!
  • Good luck to you! I really like Core. For me, once I got over the absence of breads, the hardest part was making sure I had Core foods around in case I needed something fast! I've been loving making soups and having sweet potatoes and meat for dinner--and any veggies I want. I'm fuller than on Flex and I'm fooling around a lot less with high caloric/empty calorie foods. The safety valve is the 35 points we can use weekly.
I'm glad you're giving this program a chance. I think it's a winner and I hope you like it too.

  • Well I did just day 2 of Core. And I realized today that I could make this work for me. It is a tad different then what I did on Flex. I guess cause I can't use points for pretzels or low fat chips. Yes I know I can use my WA but I really don't think 35 points is going to go far using it on things like that.

Although I am worried I am not eating enough. But I do eat when I am hungry (not starving) and I watch my portions.
