Dreams

  • Do you think they have any significant meaning or are they just random thoughts when you're asleep?

Lately I've been having nightmares about losing significant things in my life. Someone stole my car, lost my current home with nowhere to go and even saw my childhood home being destroyed by a construction machine of some sort. During the dreams it's traumatic and I'm crying but I awake and go about my day as normal. 3 nights in a row of nightmares though.
  • It sounds like you have an underlying fear of losing everything that matters most to you or brings you security. Im not a dream interpreter but thats what it sounds like. Your losing everything valuable to you in your dream and its feeling like a big loss..it sounds like your brain sub-conciously worrying over a possible fear of losing that which you hold dear.
  • I have some really strange dreams and I tend to remember all of them.

Try writing them down, as much detail as possible and then see if you are worrying about something as Porthardygurl suggests.

    Good luck.
  • Personally, I do believe that my dreams are really important for what I'm feeling. My dreams are usually pretty easy to figure out, and I find it helpful to analyze them (especially if they're nightmares, or I'm going through a tough time).

3 days of nightmares sounds pretty bad. Are you under a lot of stress at the moment, or are there any major changes going on in your life?
  • i agree with what the others said, probably a fear of losing important things in your life or possibly losing connection to your past (childhood home)

context also matters as well...for example if one's childhood home was the location of horrific abuse, dreaming of it being destroyed might represent a "moving forward" of some sort...however i'm just thinking out loud and i know you said the dreams made you very sad

i sometimes dream of being in my car, going to park somewhere, and i cant get the car to come to a complete stop, like the brakes dont entirely work and my car just keeps rolling slowly, never stopping....and i understand that, to me, this represents how my life is always moving, always busy, never entirely stopping although it may slow down...the dream isn't a nightmare, just a frustration that my car brakes arent working properly in the dream, perhaps a call to myself to "put on the brakes" or "take a break" from my busy schedule
