For some reason, i've never believed in throwing out junk food when i start a diet; i just put it on a high shelf where i can't see it. I've always been afraid of having NO junk food in my house...i guess i'm afraid that if i get sick of eating healthy food, i'll go to the grocery store and go on a crazy binge. But not anymore. I've finally rid of my house of all binge-worthy foods (the only dangerous thing left is almonds, but i haven't binged on those in years). I did put the peanuts in the car (doubt i will want to walk out to the car to get them just to binge). From now on...i will only buy foods i can handle having in my house. If i need a "treat" i will buy whatever quantity that assumes i will eat ALL of it. i.e. i can't buy a pound of cashews and keep them in my house. If i buy them, i will buy them from the bulk section and buy whatever serving size i'm permitting myself to eat all at once.
It will be interesting to see if this works. I know it's common sense for most people to throw out "junk" when they start dieting...but for some reason i have always been afraid of being too restrictive.
