Tequila allowed?

  • Someone out there has info on *dry tequila* and the Ideal protein diet??
  • nope, sorry no alcohol on IP.

It is the combination of low carbs AND low calories that keeps you in Ketosis, so if you start messing with your body chemistry you may not like the results at this point.

Even though it has no carbs, the alcohol will most likely slow your loss since your liver is spending time processing that instead of processing fat. And of course, the calories (usually about 100 per shot) are adding to what you take in, and since you should only be taking in about 800 total per day, that is a significant issue.
  • I concur with Rocky. Alcohol is the first fuel to burn. If you can restrain yourself and enjoy a small amount, it probably won't kick you out of ketosis, but it will distract your liver from burning fat for a while which will slow your weight loss down for sure.
It's a tough one....for me, it was never the decline in weight loss that made me stay away from drinking...but I had no idea what my limit was and I was terrified that I would get tipsy enough to think it was OK to start eating everything in sight!!
  • Thank you ladies.

Your input was so very appreciated.
We had people over for several days and the booze was running good.
I managed to stay right on track....thank you so much

  • Don't I wish!
  • I wish! I occasionally had a double Vodka with diet 7up and didn't got out of ketosis. But like said above harder for your body to burn fat!
