  • Post your daily workouts here! See what kinds of stuff we're doing!

I'm a big video fan, so last night I did the DVD Kick Butt: Push/Pull with Heidi Tanner and Kimberly Spreen. Great workout, about 50 minutes of multi-style strength, cardio, and stretching. The Kick Butt series was originally designed for, ahem, "mature" women, but honestly, if you up the intensity a little, it's good for any age group.
  • Love this so much!

Last night I had a run on the treadmill, but didn't manage to push myself very hard. I got in maybe 2 miles, jogging ~10 minutes, walking 2-5, alternating. I was lacking energy for some reason (too much crap food on July 4th I think) and my lungs kept tightening up regardless of the inhaler. Bah.

As I said in the July challenge, I'm working on my 5k. I try to push a little harder each week! Hopefully tonight I can manage to fall into stride and get in a good run! Also planning on getting some pushups in, as well as working with my hand weights.
  • Great idea!
7/6- Tennis, sprints, and "basketball" for about an 1.5 hours
7/7- PLANNING a 6 mile mostly walk/ run then maybe brazil butt lift! :0)
  • Today was 1000m swim that broke down like this:

    2x50 - breaststroke
    2x50 - backstroke
    4x50 - kick drills
    4x50 - breath practice
    4x50 - backstroke
    2x50 - breaststroke

My back was KILLING me, and I'm not sure the swim helped. Ever since our 4th child, I've had a terrible time with my lower back.
  • This morning I got up late, so my run was super hot! I run with my dog 3-4 times a week.

We made it 4.21 miles in about 48 minutes. I about died!
  • Yesterday, I had an early morning workout at the gym. I did an hour on the elliptical and then did some weight machines and worked on my arms. I was supposed to go for a run later in the night, but I was so exhausted that I just fell asleep!

This morning I did a 25 minute jog (around 2.5 miles) and had a brisk walk for about 25 minutes. I plan on hitting the gym later tonight and doing the elliptical, and possibly doing some more pilates.
  • Yesterday, I tried out a new zumba studio, liked the class and got a 1-month membership. Today, I'll go again after work- the goal will be to go 4x/week through July.. the class is 1-hour long. Looking forward to it!
  • 40 min hike
    40 min on the elliptical
    12 min run

    ...does housework count, lol?

    soccer outside tonight
maybe pilates/yoga if I am up for it
  • Walked around a lot today, so much that my foot hurts now. Later I am planning a Pilates/weights session with:

Hundreds and other Pilates abs moves
    Crunches and side crunches
Various weights for my arms (weak!), with 3kg weights
All the leg exercises I can think of while lying down.

This is the best I can do at the moment because I can't put weight on my foot or lay so it touches the floor. I feel a bit lost with weight training, I never do it. I'm sure it'll get easier / clearer soon!
  • Sadly, no workout yesterday (boo for me!), but tonight I did an hourlong "functional fitness" DVD from Tracie Long called Endurance for Movement. This is a tough workout that has you doing bursts of strength training, calisthenics, and stability ball planks and crunches that just about KILLED my core. Wow. It's been half an hour and I still feel this mild burning sensation in my upper abs.
  • I think I will just keep updating this post.

7/7 - 90 minutes of Yoga (P90X - Yoga X) - lovely, dimmed lights and felt at peace.
7/8 - 6 mile run at goal Half Marathon pace - not the pace I would like, but longest run in 3 weeks since hamstring strain.
7/9 - Scheduled Rest Day - took the kids swimming
7/10 - 13 miles on the Spin Bike...heat index was 115, so no outdoor ride.
7/11 - 3 mile run in the HUMIDITY this morning, then walked to my eye exam.
    7/12 - P90X Shoulders & Arms (59:00)
    7/13 - 10.5 mile cycling
  • mortonpixie, is the P90X yoga really zenlike like that? That sounds lovely. I think I had the impression the yoga WO was more like the rest of the series and had a more athletic-style focus.

It's actually along the lines of Hot Yoga - the bulk of the first 45 minutes are Vinyasa followed by 20 minutes of balance postures, then some stretching and ab focus. It is surprisingly zenlike - and Tony Horton is in love with the practice. I like it.
  • Loving this thread.

On Saturday I did an hour and a half swim. I tend not to count the distance I swim because I know in a typical hours session I swim between 1800 and 2500 metres.

Today I am going to do some yoga and some strength exercises.
  • yesterday:

3 mile run on the track
    20 min elliptical
    1 hour walk
