New Here!

  • Hi! My name is Shannon and I really need to lose weight. My current weight is 308.8 and my END goal is something like 165. My current pant size is 26 and i would be happy with 16 or lower. I don't like the person I have become or the person I will be if I don't lose this weight. It's not fair to myself, my husband or my son and I'm really scared of how bad my health will get.

I really feel like losing this weight will help my self esteem which is currently at its all time low. I want to be able to run around with my son and not get tired after only 5 minutes of running around. I want to be able to take my dog for long walks without my calves hurting and my legs feeling like they are going to fall off.

I've come here for help. My family is ready for a life style change which will help us all. My husband and myself are overweight and my son is heading that direction fast and I don't want that for him.

I was going through some of the post and saw some of the amazing transformations with the members here on this board and I am hoping that my success story will be out there at some point as well.

Sorry for the rambling, I am going to end this now. I look forward to getting to know you all and losing weight together.
  • Hi there Shannon & welcome to 3FC =)

I'm in -ish- the same boat as you. Just kind of got to the point where enough was enough and started making healthy changes.

There are a number of support areas, you're welcome to post wherever you're comfortable.

There's a 300+ area where those of us who've started over 300 can talk with each other. There's even a thread going to help us all get out of the 300's. There's also a 100 lb Club for those of us who need to lose over 100lbs in order to get to a healthier weight. So many more. Again, wherever you want as much as you want!

Keep at it, and I can't wait to get to know you on your journey!
  • New too
    Hi,
I am also new here. I have tried so many different approaches to losing weight it's pathetic. I seem to be able to stick with something temporarily and when I lose a few pounds tend to slip back into my old bad habits and gain the weight back, plus some.
I have also visited this site at times and felt the encouragement and willingness to help each other out could be a great tool to weight loss. So I look forward to any words of wisdom anyone is willing to offer and also would be glad to help out others in anyway I can. So where we go again!
  • I started at 322 and I'm now at 247. You can do it! It's slow and it's hard but it's definitely, definitely worth it.

One permanent change at a time. There's no "going back". Even if we slip on a meal or two accidentally. Always return to the newer, better habits.

I've heard that "adding" a good habit is easier than "stopping" a bad habit.

As an example, instead of saying "No more junk" you might find it easier to say "5 servings of fruits and veggies a day". Your focus is a positive, and adding in fruits and vegetables to your food will help fill you up with healthier foods.

Instead of saying "stop being a couch potato", say "Get in a five minute walk each day". Again, taking something negative and -adding- a positive thing to your life.

Then make it a habit by scheduling in the goals you have for yourself each week. =)

And, again, because it's sooooo important. Always, always, always return to the newer, better habits. Don't let a slip take you off-track.

    You can do it!
