Daily Thread 2-22-01

  • Good morning.Today is yet another new day.That is one thing about not doing too good one day.We always have a new day to do better.
    We did not get our walk at beach.Park was closing when we got there.But we are going to come up with a plan so we can walk in the evening.Once it stays daylight longer it will be no problem.
    I found a better map of USA and Canada and marked where some of you are from.I used our bio list.It was interesting to look and see how scattered we are.I have 4 from Canada,
    1 Wisconsin,2 NY,1Mass.,1 Missouri,
    1 Louisiana,2 Arizona,2 Florida{one of these is me and one is a TOPS pal that mostly lurks}
    If you haven't added your name to bio's list,please do.I will try to bring it to top.
    I need to get started on my exercising.Will check back later.Hope all have a great day

  • Morning all,

    Well, I'm holding my breath.. Migraine daughter had a 3 day school function to go to and hated to miss it, so I sent her 'hung over' body off with a medical note and am praying that she will be ok since she will be 150 miles from home. Had to get her to the bus barn at 5:30 am.

    I did not go to the meeting last night and that is probably for the best since I have been stressing and know I would have gained. I did get a mile in one the bike, 5 Minutes but it's better than nothing.

    Eleni, I brought up the old biio thread since some of us are on it. I hate repeating myself when I don't have to....do not have the time. Hope it counts so I can make your map.

    I'm gonna try to get another hour of shut eye before I start my day with the kiddo that needs all my help.

  • Hi Eleni,

    I know that you will have a great day today. It is a fresh day with no mistakes. I have weigh in today. I was down 3 lbs yesterday morning now I am up 3 lbs.. I think it is the predisone they gave me yesterday. Also I am on it for 10 days and it makes you gain weight. But I don't have a choice. I am going to our meeting tonight. We have elections tonight. Eleni think of you today and you will do great.
    That is a great idea about walking. Sorry the park was closing on you. Don't you have anywhere else to walk where you live. Are you in the city?

    Don't worry your daughter will be just fine. I will say a prayer for her today for good health. It must have been hard for her to go with the migraines she has had.
    I am glad you are trying to get some sleep for you. You need it. You are going in too many directions these days. Good for you for getting on your bike.

  • Thanks Summer for bringing up the other bio.Maybe once a week or month we can bring them both up and people can add to them.I have copied and pasted to a word doc and printed it out so I can refresh my memory.The bio you brought up is really neat because it spreads my map out more.It is really neat to look and visibly see how we are all over the map yet we are all together here.
    Ford just called and wants me to come drive my truck.They have had it over 3 weeks.They put a second set of new tires on and think it is fixed.Gotta go

    Hi Eleni~ I was coming to ask you if you had got a chance to walk...lol But I guess not I think it is nice to get out and do something with you hubby. I wish I could more often.

    Summer ~ I am so sorry about your daughters migranes. I know she will be ok though! I hope she is feeling better.

    Sherri ~ GOOOOD LUCK! I know you will make it and if not you still can help people there. I know you sure help me. Good luck on weighing in also.

    As for me, I know I have gained. I expected a gain last week but the scale was good to me. I have finally gotten my cycle back so hopefully it is back to normal. Wish me luck, (i'll need it....lol) Penny

  • morning all...I posted on the bios but I think I posted on the old one.

    Summer I remember getting awful headaches when I was younger. It turned out to be something to do with my hormones and monthly flow. I did have them for years and then they just disappeared. What worked for me was to pop in three advil or panadol immediately and rest for a bit then I was fine. All other painkillers made me sick. But by the time I found this remedy they were starting to slack off anyways so I don't know if those pills were any better than any other kind. To this day tho' when I have a headache I use this method and I am fine.

    Tomorrow is my weigh in at WW. I have tickets until the end of the month and then I am joining TOPS. I am sure that I am down somewhat as I have stayed on programme all week (at least since monday). I will let you know tomorrow.

    It's so much fun getting the secret pal stuff. thanks...

  • Well I have been playing around with the 2 bio's plus some that were on boards trying to make one list of active people now and also put others at bottom.Then i will work on my map.My head is spinning.If I ever get it straighten out I will be able to keep track of who's who.Because I will add little notes so I can remember.I'm getting old.I did make a discovery that I didn't know.Donna and I are only a year apart in age.She will be 56 and I will be 55 in March of this year.I am March 8th and she is March 11.{which is also my sisters birthday}Gotta get ready to do that walk we missed last night.We will walk first and then eat supper.I did the ab-doer and 68 min of RS this morning.See you guys in morning

  • Hi all - Also Eleni we are not too many pounds apart and we both want to reach the same goal! It sounds like you are better at exercise than me tho'. Keep it up - maybe you will inspire me.

    The sun is now shining here after a drizzly morning so I am going out for a wee walk.

    PS. my hubby's birthday is March 5th so we get to celebrate together. The whole family will go out to the Keg for dinner. That way we can all make individual choices.
  • Hi! Sherri, how is the TOPS book helping you out? What happened at elections at your meeting?

    I had a gain this past week of 1.25lbs. I'm not surprised! It's no excuse but I've been PMS'ing terribly. I have been craving nothing but salt and chocolate. And you know what happens when I have too much chocolate, then I get a migraine attack. I think after eating too well for too long my system goes wacky and tries to tell me that it's lacking something. Oh, I don't know. We'll have to take it one day at a time and see how next week goes.........

    i'm glad to hear everyone is doing well.

    eleni-your map sounds like fun! i guess we are spread out good. that makes it more interesting i think.

    sherri - i am curious how your elections went?? did you get leader?? ours aren't until the 1st week in march and everyone is pushing me to be leader. i am considering it, but the more they push the more i'm losing interest. i don't like to be forced into doing something. you would make a great leader because you have so many great ideas.

    donna- i am trying the ww old points system starting this week. do you like it? and how are you doing with it?? i have the paper work from when i went there before. i never gave it a whole hearted try though.

    penny - i haven't been caught up on these boards lately, but it sounds like you have an exciting trip planned. i hope you have great fun!

    as for me- i think i am also coming down with something. i haven't felt good for 2 days now. i have been drinking lots of oj and remembering my vitamins in hope i can fight it off. i haven't exercised much because i am sooo tired.

  • Hi Kathy and all -- I like the ww old point system. I did lose 30# from Feb. to July then I went off of it. I did not follow it at all through summer, fall, a two week cruise and christmas with lots of partying. I ate tons and gained back 15#. I know it works but you have to stick to it...and in order for it to work and not be hungry you have to have a fairly well balanced food selection. eg. you can have a great deal of potatoe only it has to be fairly plain. everything counts. I have a tendency to eat alot of chicken, fish, beef and pork stir frys as you can cut the meat portion back to an allowable amount and add lots of veggies which really don't count. I have a few other tricks too but if you have a piece of chocolate cake or two pieces of pizza it is going to be real hard to stay in limits for the day. You really have to have three meals a day and drink lots of water. and it is better to stay in the middle or high end of your points. Funny as it seems you do lose better. Your body does not go into 'starvation' mode that way and your metabolism keeps burning that fat rather than storing it. Homemade veg. soup is another great food and 0 points..good luck..donna
