  • It was a really difficult labor (three weeks of painful contractions and labor symptoms, slowly getting me to six cm, then just two hours to complete and baby born!) but I am happy to announce my son, Seth Josiah, was born 10/10/10 at 12:03 pm, weighing 8 lbs 14 oz and 20 inches long. I was around 232 lbs when he was born, and am now at 215. My pre pregnancy weight was 210.8 by my scale and 215 by my doctor's scale, so I am taking that as a small net gain from the pregnancy I am ready to lose!

I took a bit of a hiatus from weight management in the two weeks after his birth, it has been a challenge, but I am ready to come back full steam and will begin with a confession: I had quite a candy holocaust tonight, unfortunately, but I figured I would. We didn't do Halloween, but rather Reformation Night at our church, which involved each family bringing candy as well as a potluck dish for a night of fun games and a great lesson of church history.

Since I was eating a lunch a lady prepared for my family (so I wouldn't have to worry about cooking as much, immediately following my son's birth) and the evening was potluck and candy, I didn't even bother logging. It's probably a good thing, it wasn't pretty. However there is no candy in my house except a few pieces for my girls that they won in the games tonight, and my last meal was given to us in the form of cash for a date night with my husband later this week, so there is nothing but my commitment (or possible lack thereof) stopping me from being perfectly on plan from here on out.

I need to get back on the saddle post-baby and have been halfheartedly trying, but it is hard when my husband and other families are making my meals and I am exhausted and ravenous from breastfeeding. Now things are settled, back to normal, and my appetite can be controlled without too much difficulty, so it is time to stop slacking and lose some serious weight!

I am so happy to be back, everyone, and am looking forward to losing 1.5-2 lbs per week and getting as low as I can here at the end of 2010, to ring in the new year primed and ready for Onederland!

ETA: here is an obligatory cute newborn picture. DS in about two weeks old and on my back, wrapped in a carry, for sleeping (well, he was sleeping, I was doing chores ).
