  • So a friend of mine is making an inspiration board. Pictures of things she's looking forward to doing/having/experiencing/wearing/etc when she gets closer to goal weight. I thought it was a GREAT idea! I'm making a 3ring binder with my meal plans, journal, etc in it. I thought I'd make the outside of the binder my "inspiration board". So far I have:

    sky diving
    hot air balloon
    white water rafting
    roller coasters
    hiking
(Do you see a theme... I want to experience the outside world!)

I'd like to add pictures of corset and sexy lingerie, but I have a preteen adn just turned teen boys. So I'm not sure yet if I'm going to do that.

    What I want to know...

What would be on YOUR inspiration board?
  • Really? Nobody has things they are looking forward to?
  • My inspiration (or what keeps me moving forward) is list of things I have accomplished in the past that took a long time to see results and/or were particularly difficult. For example the date I quite eating candy (April 2005) or the fact that I paid off my 30 year mortgage in 9 years by tacking on extra principal every month.
  • i love this question!

i'm not sure. i think pictures of things i want to do like you were saying. katy trail is actually a trail in mo. i could put pictures of that on the board. i want to go hiking, camping, fishing, horse back riding with the kids next summer. maybe on that trail.

i have a picture hanging in my room. it's a dirt road with trees on both sides and very pretty clouds kinda like a sunrise. it reminds me of walking in Iowa surrounded by cornfeilds. that always made me feel good. walking by myself or with family. i strive for that feeling when i'm walking outside in IL or just running in place looking at that picture.

i would also put pictures of clothes i want to wear.
  • Every weekday, I climb to the 8th floor of my office building to get to my office. I haven't taken the elevator since April 2010 (even when going from floor to floor for business/workout area).

So....my board would have a picture of the famous "Rocky steps" in Philly, the ones that Rocky runs up~~because I want to run up those steps when I make goal!

    I'd also have:

    Skiing
    Hot Air Balloon
    Kayaking
    Beach
    Zip Line
    Dune Buggy
    Rock Climb
    Dancing

    AND

a picture of a Mechanical Bull
  • I LOVE some of these!!! I'm an adventurous heart, but with a couch bum's body. LOL I can't wait til the inner me comes out and I can do this stuff with my children! (My husband is not an adventurous soul. LOL)
  • Running. I want to be able to comfortably run. And jump and just move and be free.
  • I have an inspiration type folder, but unfortunately it's nothing like what you guys have outlined. I have no desire to do things like skydive or ski... I have a very tame and unadventurous heart. But it has things like examples of women with healthy bodies and positive body images, pictures of things I would like to wear someday (strapless bathing suit, heels, skirts), a picture of a happy heart, clothing tags that say things like M and L instead of XXXL. I also am a very verbal person so I have affirmations like "I will do all I can to beat diabetes!" and "I am more than a number on a scale."
  • Neon,

I think those are great inspirational pictures!! I have htings such as clothes I like, etc also. I do love the idea of a clothing tag! I may steal that.

I also love the thought of adding affirmations!!!
  • I'm working on one. So far it has the following theme: running, dancing, soccer, high heels, lingerie, and cute clothing.

All things I loved at one time or another that I have gotten away from.
  • I love this idea, Jackie, which I think I told you on another thread about this topic.

I've started making a Bucket List at 43 Things and will eventually make an art journal page with these items. So far the list includes:

    ~Run a 10K (If I survive that, I might add "run a half marathon"! )
    ~Firewalking
    ~Hang gliding
    ~Hike Grandfather Mountain
    ~Visit Israel
    ~Ride a horse
    ~Fly an airplane
    ~Learn to fly fish
    ~Attend the Burning Man Festival
~Write a book and get it published

I've allowed my weight to affect my confidence and hold me back from doing so many things. Sure, writing a book shouldn't be affected by how much I weigh, but it is, because I struggle so much to believe in my abilities and talents. I really want to start living my life and being the me I'm meant to be!

This is SOOOO me. I even have a motiviational print on my binder that says "You can be today the person you were meant to be." I know I wasn't MEANT to be 306 pounds, filled with self hatred, no self confidence, and unwilling to do anything (including leaving house) unless it was necessary. I'm ready to be the mom, the wife, the WOMAN I was meant to be!

I am incorporating some of your picture journaling into my actual journalling too. I even bought a set of 5 pens in all different colors!!

BTW... I *REALLY* want to visit Israel also!!
  • [QUOTE=babble;3590184]

-getting rid of one part of my fear of flying (having to get an extra seat and or being singled out etc..
    /QUOTE]

This one is totally on my list too! Part of my anxiety of flying is the (irrational) fear that the weight of my hiney will bring the plane down.

    Also on my list:

    - I would love, love, love to start playing indoor soccer when I get to a healthier weight. I haven't played seriously in years, but I want to!

    - a cruise (I did my first and only cruise so far when I was at 315 pounds, and although I loved it, there were so many excursions I couldn't do- like horseback riding, because I was too fat!)

    - a spa day!

    - Busch Gardens amusement park- still won't go on anything that goes upside down, but looking forward to fitting into the rides!

    - not having to shop at Lane Bryant ever again! Not that I don't love the store, but I won't fit into the clothes anymore!

    - Visiting friends and family I haven't seen in years and was too self-conscious to visit at my heaviest weights.
  • My inspiration board, I think would be pretty off the wall.

    It would contain:

    -A health insurance pamphlet

-a picture of a -ahem- certain lad.

-A photo of my mother as I intend to take care of her when her eternal youth wears off (she is 54 and still passes for 35 with nary a wrinkle or gray hair and ropes in young guys like there's nothing going on. Go Mam!)

-Not a bathing suit picture, or a tank top...but a Kimono. I'm no weeaboo, but you have to be a single bone to wear those things without looking like a sausage!

-Clothing from the Thaitee shop on Etsy

-A belly dancing class schedule or picture of clothing worn for it

    -An airplane seat

-Roller derby pictures and a pair of skates. (Yes Babble, you are not alone in this!)

    -A pair of harem pants

-Something to do with advanced Yoga courses.

    Ah, to dream!
  • I love this post, it really got me thinking about stuff I want to do or be able to do again...
    I want to ride horses
    Go ice skating
    Wear 4 inch heels
    Fit into an airplane seat
    Ride roller coasters
Feel normal in a room full of people
    Purchase life insurance
    Go Hiking
Shop at The Gap, Banana Republic, Express and other normal size stores

Well the list could go on, so now I think I will also make an inspiration binder for myself...thanks for the idea!!!
