I'm new!!

  • My name is Bethany, I am 22 years old. I am 5'1 (ish) and I weigh probably around 230 (UGH!) pounds. I HATE THIS! My weight has always been a problem. As long as I can remember I have always been FAT (scratch that - until I was about 10 I wa. Even when I played sports as a kid I was still bigger... Nothing ever seems to take the weight off. I eat mostly healthy food, and I don't eat too much. I exercise as often as I can but I never seem to lose anything! My weight keeps creeping up and it sucks! I can't really afford a gym membership or personal trainer or anything, so I am left to do this all on my own. I need help and support because I want to drop all the weight! Ideally I'd like to be a "healthy" weight for my height, but for now I'd like to just focus on getting down to 175!

I married my husband when he was in the Marine Corps, and he also has weight problems. We have 2 children (ages 20 months and 5 months). I want them to have a healthy Momma! Since having my second child, I have put on probably around 20 pounds... I lost all the baby weight plus some... just to gain the some back and more!! I NEED help! I work as a call center representative so my activity at work is limited to tapping my toes at the desk and climbing flights of stairs before work, during breaks, and after work. When I get home I clean the house and take care of my girls. By the time all that is done its time for bed!! Since I still have a 5 month old, she wakes up several times a night, so I am always too tired to get up in the mornings to work out. I know I am making excuses for myself and it needs to stop, but it is so hard not to when I am so tired all the time!

Other than losing the weight for my family and myself, my dream is to join the Navy - I know that goal is quite a bit out of reach right now, but I really, really want this! I just need help getting there!

Does anyone have any suggestions for me??

Best wishes in acheiving your goals
  • Hi Bethany, I'm also new in 3FC (about a week). I've been using a diabetic exchange plan for my weight loss and it works great for me. Maybe all you need to do is consider what type of food you are eating in the same meal? Like starchy veggies and other starches combined? I have been trying to lay off starch as much as I can because they have a huge impact on me. I always try not to have any more than one serving of starch per meal and try to limit my starches so that my last starch intake for the day is at lunch.
I wish you all the best and total success on your journey
  • Hi and welcome to 3FC.

    Good luck with your goals.
