Gave up meat, can't quit sugar

  • WTF?!?!?! It was so easy for me to give up meat cut and dry, cold turkey, no looking back but trying to give up sugar is nearly impossible!

Has anyone ever tried giving up sugar? It's in everything! It's mocking me... Why don't I just give up oxygen while I'm at it...
  • I gave up sugar, and all refined carbs. Blows but it works for me. I could not imagine giving up meat. Its so filling. And for trying to cut calories it helps me a lot. I do veggies with lean meat for most meals.
  • Because sugar is the devil!! lol

And it's in everything which makes it super difficult
  • i am in the process of getting sugar out of my nutrition plan, and it is not easy. for me i am finding that at least at the beginning i am having to completely avoid it (which may end up being the case always, time will tell).

sugar can trigger the body to immediately want more sugar (and more food in general) and it can be hard to stop. meat is usually something that makes me feel less hungry and of course gives lots of protien. maybe experiment with going a few days without sugar to see if that reduces your cravings.

good luck and hang in there.
  • I had no problem giving up sugar for splenda. They taste the same to me. I found out that I Do Not like Stevio though. Perhaps you just need to find your alternative?
  • Thanks for the advise guys. The sugar alternates just make me crave sugar more. I don't wanna trick my body into liking fake sugar I wanna see what its like to have sugar out of my system. I've heard its very beneficial but i can't do it! I am a weakling. I am but a mere mortal...
  • I gave up sugar and sugar substitutes at one point, I wouldn't even buy something if it had added sugars. It was hard and I only did it for two weeks while on a "cleansing diet". IT worked well but I would never do it for the long run, I enjoy sugar. Now if I ever got sugar crazed and couldn't stop eating it, I would probably do another two weeks added sugar free again and slowly add it back, just to make sure I'm not OVERindulging.
