Rock bottom

  • They say you have to hit rock bottom before you can start to get well again. Today, I am there. I am a single mother of a 4 year old little girl. Working on starting a new life for myself and my daughter. My divorce, and honestly most of the marriage, was very hard on me mentally, and physically, that manifested in major weight gain. Coupled with undiagnosed PCOS, it is a major problem.

    I have just started venturing back into the dating world again. I reconnected with an old friend, and things seemed to be going great. Until today. Long story short, he loves the way I look, but is embarassed to take me to meet his friends. I know that I have work to do, and he has even offered to help, but the fact that he said that... Gut shot. Many tears followed.

    And so here I am, desperatly searching help, desperatly searching for me. Needing a kick in the *** to get myself started. Please... advice... encouragement... I am desperate
  • Well, we're here for you!

    Do you have any idea what you'd like to eat or do for exercise?
  • That happened to me, too. Even though I'm 15, it took my little sister telling me that she was ashamed of me to CLICK something in me. Start slowly, cutting back on unnecessary or processed foods (Cheez Doodles, Cheetos, etc.) and swap those in for baked variety or healthier (low-cal or low-fat) versions of them. Then little by little, change unhealthier choices to healthier ones. If you're at the mall and want something sweet, get a frozen yogurt instead of a big cookie or cinnamon Auntie Anne's pretzel. And most importantly, EAT WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY! It was the boredom-eating that did me in. The weight loss may seem like a lot, but if you throw in just a teensy bit of exercise in addition to eating better (which doesn't mean cutting out all sweets, I happen to LOVE candy), the pounds will FLY off!
  • #1 motivation..that beautiful little girl of yours!! Hey guess what? Later for that guy.. I know, easier said than done, but YOU will never feel good about being with anyone unless you feel good about yourself. And you certainly don't need some guy bringing you down...tell him..." C YA!"

    Read my introduction...it's the long one! I've been having some "bad days" the last few weeks, but I'm not throwing in the towel..EVER!

    Just keep posting..together, we will all muddle thru..because like the Loreal commercial's say..."WE ARE WORTH IT" cheesy but true.

    To quote the words of the fabulous drag queen himself.;
    "If you can't love yourself....how in the **** are you gonna love somebody else?" Rupaul...

    You have my support..I'm right there with ya!!
  • Well said LoriBlu! Can I get a Amen?
  • Amen!!!! '')
