ACK! Need some support...

  • I debated putting this in the Chicks in Control forum, but I think you guys will understand better.

My doctor upped my Metformin. In the past, it has helped me immensely (no pun intended) to lose weight, but I only took the higher dose starting last night, so no effect yet. Basically, my problem is I over-ate AGAIN last night, because my blood sugar wasn't under control. Usually around 5am I have a glass of milk, and on the Metfomin, it is enough, to get me through the night. We were out of milk for two days, so for the last two days I have had to find something else.

The night before last, I ended up eating over 700 calories before I figured out it was protein I needed. Last night, I woke up 3 different times, ate 5 Tb of peanut butter, and half a can of olives (my weakness) because I tried to restrict my calories for the rest of the day because of the night before, so I ended up eating a candy bar before bed, which as any of you know, WILL NOT, despite the 260 calories, get you what you need.

So, here I am today already 730, not including the candy bar I now have to count on yesterdays calories, calories up for the day. I have eaten a very light breakfast and will eat the rest of my spaghetti squash with vegetarian sauce for lunch. I will try to only stick to snacks for the rest of the day, and eat a decent dinner, but I just need support, Tell me the Metformin will kick in soon and this will not be as much of a problem.
  • Well, I got it figured out! The Metformin is finally doing it's job, and I did not binge last night.

I could have used a few kind words form you guys, but *shrugs* at least the pills are working.
  • Ahhhhh! A computer. Now I can type

You know I am here for you 100%! I don't take Metformin so I don't really know about all that stuff but I do hope that your binge eating days are over

I know how that feels though. You know how to eat right and from what I read you are doing a great job. KEEP IT UP!! Keep going with the routine that works for you. Avoid buying anything for your house or when you are out and about that you know will mess your system up.

I am not an expert on this topic but I sure am here to lend an ear/eyes and support

  • Metformin never helped with my weight loss. I wish it did! I ended up ditching it and going low carb and all-natural which is the equivalent. I had much less cravings than when on Metformin.
  • I tried Metformin for IR and I didnt think it really did much to help me, that is awesome that it helps control cravings! Because I'm following the IR diet I've just trained myself..when I feel like eating, have a balanced IR snack or just protein. Once i start on the carby sweet stuff its all downhill!

    Keep up the good work!
