How do you combat Diet Boredom?

  • Having messed about for the past few weeks and getting by by the skin of my teeth, i am finally back in the swing of things.

I put 3 lb on last week, but lost 6 this week. Why the change? well, i realised that all i needed was a change in diet, so i decided to count calories. I've really enjoyed the change and will stick with calorie counting for a while. In a few weeks i will probably get bored of it so i will try something else for a few weeks.

How does everyone else combat diet boredom?

I apologise to anyone who has already read this but i decided to re-submit it with a different subject heading as i was not getting much response with the previous subject and i am very interested in how other combat diet boredom.

  • Hi fat & forty,
I am 47 and have been struggling my whole life with the weight loss plans. I did the low carb thing 2 times and I did lose, but I think I felt like a grease ball. To much fat for me.
I gained back everything I lost plus extra.
I am now basically counting calories and watching the fats. Trying to get the fruits and veggies in. I guess a healthier way of eating.
I am going to allow myself one treat on Sundays, like a couple pieces of supreme pizza, or some lasagna. I think it will help me to not get to frustrated. I just have to remember to not eat the whole pizza......
I guess I like the calorie counting because you really can have more of a variety of foods to eat. So far I'm not bored, and have been sticking to it.
I think the main thing is to have different foods to keep from getting bored.
I am so glad they made sugar free jello. That's my sweet tooth treat. Take care

  • This is a very naughty answer Susan, but I couldn't resist...I combat diet boredom by eating bad things, cos I fal off the wagon when I'm bored....but I do try and get back on, but seriously, when I was doing WW very goodly, I did get a bit bored a few tmes and realised I was eating exactly the same stuff day in and day out, like yogurt, ww lunch, chicken and baked pot for dinner, so to keep on the wagon, I shared meals with a friend about twice a week, she cooked with me, and as we both cook slightly different it could have been the same old meal but tasted different plus eating with a friend is nice to feel you're not alone eating healthily whilst other's around you are still eating bad stuff.... does this make sense?

    Hi there
I am just starting out on my weight loss programme but I have failed loads of times in the past but I am determined not to fail again. Reason for failing was boredom in the end.
So I have started a folder that contains loads of recipes all from surving the net I have to admit. They are all Low Fat and all different.
That way I have lots to choose from and plenty of fresh ideas to go at. I love sorting out recipes and altering them to our tastes. It keeps me busy and my husband is always surprised when I tell him what he has just had is Low Fat as he thinks it is not.
He too is on a diet ( sorry Healthy Eating Programme)we are trying not to think of it as a diet as he says diet is simply die with a t.
  • Variety! I buy a new cook-book every now and then - mostly when I am in a rut of cooking the same things over and over and boring myself with the food I am cooking.

I've reached 10 stone this week. Next Saturday I have my 39th birthday, I hope to be "9st something" for the first time in about 13 years! Wish me luck.
