Yes! Totally motivated again!

  • My official weigh in for myself is Wednesday mornings, but I usually check sometime on the weekend just for kicks and giggles.

Well last week I was really disappointed with myself, I only lost .8lbs. I had been hungry all week because I'd stuck to an 1100-1200cal diet even over Thanksgiving. I was really excited to weigh in and see a good loss. .8lbs isn't awful, but it just wasn't what I was expecting (the week before I had lost 1.8lbs).

So this week, I'm not going to lie, I was feeling kind of unmotivated. I kept up with exercise, but my diet slipped a little bit. I ate some candy, went to Subway, ate bigger portions than I had been. I was holding my breath for my weigh in this morning, I was prepared for the damage.

Well no damage was done, since Wednesday morning (I weigh at the same times, wearing the same outfit to eliminate error), I have lost....TWO POUNDS! And I still have Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday to add onto that loss for the week.

I'm totally happy with myself, and it was the boost I needed. I *am* making progress, my hard work *is* paying off. What I learned from this, is my body is burning fat most efficiently when it's on a diet of 1300-1400cal. And my exercise seems to be working, and I'm ready to bump it up a notch.
  • Yay! Good for you!

I like the lesson you learned from this and think it will be helpful for you.

Another lesson that could be drawn from it is that the scale is not the be all and end all of measurement of progress in the short term. If you keep doing what you're doing, the weight will come off month over month, if not always every few days.
  • I think your body was telling you it needed more fuel...you think you slipped up, but then you lost weight. Did you monitor how many calories you took in during your slip ups?
  • Thanks guys

I did record everything I ate. My slip ups weren't huge...a chocolate covered pretzel (110cal), a candy cane (60 cal), and just overall bigger portions.

I've been on a diet for 6 weeks, and here's the pattern so far...I have only recorded the last 4 weeks.:

    Week 1: (period week) 2.2lbs lost, 1300 average cal/day
    Week 2: 1.8lbs lost, 1350 average cal/day
    Week 3: .8lbs lost, 1100 average cal/day
    Week 4: 2lbs lost, 1300 average cal/day

My exercise and activity level has been fairly constant. The only difference I can think of is lowering my cal/day in week 3, and that was the week that I lost the least.
  • That makes sense because your body was hoarding. However, the zig zag is very effective. I always see better weight loss, with a zig zag diet.
  • Same here! I was really unmotivated for a while and eating badly, but I dropped to 201 today!!! yay! I did up my exercises too. Even when your unmotivated, push yourself because when you see the pounds come off you'll re gain the motivation!!!
