I'm new

  • Well, I've flitted around this site all night and think I've found a place for me. Today I looked in the mirror while drying my hair -- and really saw myself as a am for the first time in a loooong while. A few days ago, I went for my 6 month checkup (typeII diabetes) and the scale read 266 lbs. Before my son was conceived 16 years ago, I was half that weight!
I need more help than my family can give me, though they mean well. My diabetes nutritionist gave me a diet to follow, but I haven't looked at it for 6 months until today. Today, I am removing everything I can't eat from every shelf and the frig. I am dusting off my old Richard Simmons videos, and seeking your help. Here goes!

Thanks for everyone's support. I weigh myself for the first time tommorrow I hope things are going the right direction. I love the shrinking woman handle too.(and hope to be one) I found a great site, thanks to Oprah. Dr. Ornish was interviewed and so being a school librarian-to-be, I searched for sites by and about him. I came across an article that talks about how people keep it off once it's lost. See it here http://my.webmd.com/content/article/1728.83698 That has always been my problem- lose it and gain even more back. Sound familiar So wish me luck and thanks for the welcome. I'll enter in my pounds lost Friday night in the appropriate post.
