My name is Michelle and I will sum up in one sentence why I am here - in less than one year I was diagnosed with hypertension, type two diabetes and high cholesterol. I'm 32. For the past year I have been in denial and basically ate my way through the year. I am taking meds for the hypertension and high cholesterol. I was testing my sugar regularly but haven't tested since late fall and was shocked to see my fasting sugar was 197. I was at about 140-160 (still high) when I was testing in the fall. I have made a New Year's Resolution that I will not break, I AM going to lose weight, I AM going to exercise and I WILL NOT be put on meds for high sugar.
I have started to journal and would like to post those entries here if I may. I was a part of the diabetes thread over the summer but don't know where everybody went. Everyone, if you're out there, please come back or tell me where you are, I miss you all!
I am still scared like I was but I am no longer in denial. I realized that although I have some serious health problems and am quite young, I need to use my age to my benefit. I am young enough to do some serious soul searching and lifestyle changes and that is exactly what I intend to do, starting last night at 12:00:01!!!
