Good morning all! Finally a gorgeous day after 5 days of rain! We had a frost last night - I could smell it in the air so picked a bunch of stuff in the dark before bed. I need one of those headbands with a light!
We are going out for breakfast this a.m. and then I plan to spend most of my time outside doing yet more garden cleanup. The geese are flying and the trees are turning so I had better get going on the Fall chores. Hershey and I did have an afternoon nap yesterday and a good solid night of zzzzz so we are rested and ready.
No frost here yet, but we have geese by the pond and in the corn field. The trees are turning too. I'm fighting off a bout of bronchitis, but I'm afaid I will have to go to the doctor with it. I thoght it was just allergies as the neighbors are cutting corn and baling hay. Hubby says I sound like an old Buick when I cough! He IS such a joy!
After he gets his hair cut,we're headed to the city to get groceries and pick up our new outer door for the front. In this old farmhouse, we have four outside doors! Yes, north, south, east and west!
Have a good weekend and take care.
It is a pretty Saturday here, sunny and in the high 60's. I guess this is unseasonably cool for this time of year but after many hot Septembers in Florida I am loving this weather!! DH has been busy on the yard all day, cutting wood and mowing grass and so on. I cleaned the kitchen and my sunroom this morning, spider galore in that room!! I did the bathrooms last night so I am feeling pretty good. DD just took a little nap and I joined her for a few zzz's it was great.
DH and I have a date tonite. Dinner and a movie with NO KIDS
Pretty exciting stuff brewing her in TN today!!
Fab day here, 70 degrees and beautiful. Just came back from Walmart in NY State (we don't have any here by me in NJ). Jim's outside killing the bee's nests that are in the house, I found 2 yellow jackets walking around my house this am..........and let me tell you, this house ain't big enough for me and a bee. I litterely freak out........iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick.
Tip........Feel Better and don't run around stay put and take care of youself. You being sick, is this a result of you washing windows without your shirt on again??????????????????????????? haaaaaaaaaaaa. (leenie ducking from Tippy's fist loloolol).
Had a huge day doing lawn and garden chores today and now we are all tired, sore, and dirty! Dh cut down the hedge in the front and yanked up 3 roots--3 more roots to go and then I can get my front flower bed in place. I mowed the lawn, weeded and transplanted the front side bed, and carried back all the brush dh cut down. Miree was happily playing in the flower bed dirt--was she ever dirty! She had so much fun she's fast asleep right now.
More of the same on the agenda for tomorrow, I have some perennials and fall bulbs to get in the ground before it gets too cold. Also a trip to Walmart for some yellow fabric. My neighbour got her hands on some nice ends, one big enough to make a baby blanket for my new niece or nephew--no baby yet!
Could not do much but did make a big pot of sause and meatballs.have had a headach all day am trying hard to get rid of it. UUUGGGHHH. i thik that i am going to bed early. DH repaced the porch or most of it on the back of the house it is nice to know tha i will not fall through the floor!!! take care and i hope the head will be toned down tomorow.
I went on a mini-vacation this past Friday, unfortunately no computer access. I missed you guys! Took daughter to nearby motel for the last swimming of this year, it's really starting to get chilly! Needless to say, I was not eating as healthy as I could have, just call me CHEATER!! Surprising, I only gained 1 pound. Must have been all that walking and swimming.
This has been social weekend for me. Last night a farewell dinner for a co-worker, this afternoon, a baby shower for sister in law, and tomorrow, dinner at ex-mother in law's! Having a hard time making the right choices, so maybe I'll start over again on Monday.
Have accomplished starting a new quilt today for my nephew who should be making his debut around Dec. 4. Hope I finish it by then, my sister is insistent!!
Hope everyone else has a productive and wonderful weekend!!
Just dropping a line before I rush myself and 4 of the rugrats through the shower (14 yr. old son spent the night with dad).
I've done so well through this seperation, but leave it to TOM (POOKY??? you hear me??) yesterday I made a smorgasborg of a dinner: Cheese sticks, chicken fries, fresh shrimp and....choc. chip cookies right outta the oven!! (I quit counting at about 8 )
I sit here this AM with a coffee, leftover shrimp and 2 more cookies. UHG!
Scooby2-maybe there's a reason your scale broke...are you SURE you need to buy one right away??
Tippy- I never had asthma until my mid 30's. It seems to be weather related (allergies) and I've been having problems the last few days too. Could be the heat being on, but I also heard when it gets cold all the "junk" floating around drops and can bother people. Hope you're feeling better.
Leens- 2 yellow jackets? I killed 12 of them a couple days ago in my house and there were about 5 more up where I couldn't reach them! We found a nest in our last house's attic that was about 5 FEET in diameter! (Guess I won't be expecting you for dinner anytime soon )
Nasus- hope your headache is better. I've been feeling my TOM headache chasing me down. Hopefully it won't catch me. I think I got away with a mild one last month.
Well, take care ladies. I'm off to church (hey, if anyone else out there is Unitarian let me know!) and then to spend my day painting the new Curves.
Good Sunday Morning! It's sunny and shiny and gloriously golden around here. I've already done the Church and coffee bit. (Anglican, Renee, but got married in the Unitarian Church.)
We are off in a few minutes on another picnic - life is short so enjoy it! Heshey and I will walk a loop of the lake trail while DH reads and relaxes in the sun. I am afraid my dear man is really starting to show his years. He will be 80 in November and health problems are catching up. So we are grabbing our fun while we can.
The cousins are up at The Island today putting on shutters and stuff. They are going to turn up here hinting re supper but we are going to take them to the local Church Supper for roast beef and turkey - they can eat my pies there.
Have a good afternoon. A new month tomorrow and a new challenge!
Wish I had time to reply to everyone but of course, soon as I get on the computer here comes DH! But I'm with you Ruth, I need to spend time with him as there never seems to be enough time for us to enjoy each other away from the pressures of life.
Renee~I've heard those chocolate chips are soothing to the soul! Is there a better way to deal with TOM? lol
Hope everyone has a great day~~I'll try to check in later.
We just got home from the hospital where the doc told me I have not only bronchitis but also asthma! Oh great! We spent $110 on meds. I didn't go to church as my cough sounds like I belong in a TB unit. Besides, I was awake at 4:00 coughing and I came to the living room so the hubby could sleep. I watched infro commercials about diet and exercise. Dr. Atkins has an offer of one of his books and a 45-minute video for $29. For that money I can buy a few of his paperbacks! Oh, and in one exercise commercial, the womans breasts seem to increase as she exercises. It looked so fake!
So...I'm off to do a bit of laundry, kitchen work and I have to mow the hay field called our lawn. Take care all and God bless!
(Oh Leenie, the notorious BF also has a cold. Do you think he was washing windows bare chested too???) ~Inside joke~
Hi everybody. The four of us, both daughters, SIL and I just got back from a weekend at Oban, Scotland. We stayed in a lovely B&B with a view of the Irish Sea and some islands. I had to climb 39 steps to get to our bedroom. Believe me, I thought twice before heading down and made sure I had all I needed for the day. Marvelous breakfasts BTW.
We got there Friday eve and only had time for a quick look around but on Saturday we took a car ferry to the Isle of Mull and spent the day touring around the loveliest place. Road just one lane with passing places every hundred yards or so, windy roads, cliffs, streams, ocean views, farms and sheep all over the place and the cutest highland cattle, great shaggy soulfoul beasties, wandering freely about. Just about every turn brought another picture postcard view. Fortunately, after a drizzly morning the day turned sunny and warm. We even found a stand of mystic standing stones in a grove of trees. #1 daughter thought if she just thought hard enough she'd go through the stones into the past and meet some hunky highland dude from the 1600s (this girl's read too much fiction) but no such luck.
This morning, more rain and time to head back to Edinburgh with a stop along the way at Stirling Castle. I took one look at what I was expected to climb and nearly backed out but so glad I didn't. The rain held off for a while and we enjoyed a great exploration of this monolithic structure. MORE stairs and lots of cobblestones but you would not believe the scenery in every direction.
Home at last to take-out pizza and salad. I think I've burned off all the extra carbs I've been eating. (I HOPE). My pants are feeling looser anyhow.
That's my weekend, folks. Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday.

Hope all of you that are feeling under the weather get better soon.!
It is a gorgeous day here, went to the early church service and then the grocery store....Sat out on the porch by the pool(too chilly to get in but still pretty) and read the paper with my coffee DH even made breakfast!! THe children are sleeping and I am getting ready to catch up teh photo albums....if only Sunday could last forever!!!
I have finished weeding out, digging up, and planting the side garden with my shade perennials. Glad the work is done too, my clothes are dirty and my body is sore. I can't say the same for the hedge--dh has tried to get all the stumps out but one is still standing and it looks as if this one is a biggie. He's too tired and sore to continue so we've called it a day.
My neighbour stitched together a baby quilt from some of the ends that her friend gave her so I can give it to my new niece or nephew. At last word, still no baby but all that might change soon enough!
Going to get down to business and start organizing the Christmas lists and projects for this year. Hope everyone likes what I'm going to make for them!
