Default a really dumb question

I have a really really dumb question. But I have to claim ignorance on this one, so please forgive me. I see a lot of posts where you guys are eating "hummus" ? someone please tell me what this is? I've not seen anything like this in the grocery store, and the only thing I know of that remotely sounds like this stuff, is the stuff my mom puts in her garden outside as fertilizer. Ok, you may stop laughing now.

Alright! Chick peas I know, i could eat those. But I think I'd have a hard time getting something down, called "hummus", I would be thinking "cow manuer (sp?)".

Also, hummus is creamed or blenderized chickpeas seasoned with things like tahini (sesame seed paste) ,lemon juice, garlic, etc. I had to ask what it was once too.

Mellissa-interesting Psalms verse. I always think of that as my words coming from my mouth but I guess we can think of it as too much food coming in too!

Yep, the message is words of our mouth. But I thought, hey! I can think of it as food too! I have this verse typed up and taped to my monitor at work. to always remind me to watch what I say...lol...I have adult ADD and sometimes it turns off my "speech filter" and I end up speaking before I think. I also have Rheumatoid arthritis and I'm on a bunch of drugs for that (prednisone, methotrexate, and Remicade infusions), so I choose not to take the ADD meds like ritalin or concerta. ADD truly is like your brain is on fast forward, and somebody else has the remote.

Definitely try the hummus - it's SO good! It's great to dip veggies in (i used to liike dipping pita bread in it, but since I can easily go through a whole bag of pita bread in one sitting, I don't think that's so wise anymore!), and I like it on sandwhiches/wraps, too. Hope you like it!

Rice crackers are a great substitute for the pita.

Yep, it does. I'm only allowed to walk or swim. Some say "lucky duck", but not really. all you guys who work out will be nice and tone and tight, i'll just be smaller. I was diagnosed 1 1/2 years ago, and the mobility "ground" that i've lost just in the last year is amazing. there is no such thing as a pain free day. well, actually, the pain isn't too bad unless i'm having a flair up, otherwise its the stiffness. unlike osteo arthritis, RA effects every joint in the body, including my jaw. i cant sit for more than an hour without having to get up and move around and let everything "pop". otherwise, I'll need help getting up out of a chair. I can't carry anything that weighs more than about 4 pounds, or my elbows will give-way, and i'll drop whatever i'm carrying. going down stairs are not too bad, but going up is hard on my hips and knees. as soon as i get up every morning, i have to stand up straight out of bed, slowly put my weight on my feet and allow them to 'pop', before i can start walking. otherwise, the feet wont "be there" and i'll fall down. some days, i feel like a 90 year old woman, in a 39 year old body. i sound like breakfast cereal, snap-crackle-pop. The last time I had a flair up was in January, and I had to put my right arm in a sling for several days because the joint was so swollen, i couldn't put my arm down by my side without crying from the pain. and I do mean crying. this is the only thing i've ever experienced that, sometimes, can hurt as bad as having a baby. a major flair up can be excruciating. ok, enough whinning

thanks for checking out my projects! Crochet keeps me sane, and keeps the fork out of my mouth. and thankfully, my hands are the one thing that don't really hurt too much. but i know that could change, and it makes me VERY sad to know that someday, i may not be able to crochet anymore. If I can't hold a hook, you might as well shoot me...lol

I think I'm gonna try hummus again. I recall trying it when I was very young and at that time I pretty much hated anything that wasnt' pizza, fries, burgers, or sugary.

If you love to crochet check around the local churches,
my mother and i am in a crochet club, we crochet lap blankets, and they are prayed over and donated to the elderly, mostly in nursing homes.

You definitely have talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God Bless You!!!!!!!!!1

I've thought about charity crochet many times. but I usually have so many projects on the hook, a lot of them $ projects, I just never seem to be able to carve out time. I seriously considered Project Linus, but even then, I just couldn't find time fit it in. At the time, I was up to my eye-balls in poncho and shawl orders. Martha Stewart stepped off a plane, and J-Lo wore one in Monster in Law, and my business went through the roof

I didn't see a reply on where to find hummus (if you don't make it homemade) so here's my reply. You can find it in most grocery stores typically by the deli (fancy cheese area). Think gourmet and look around in those sections. It's not in the shelf sections or the closed door refridgerated sections. It is a refrigerated item though. In a super walmart I tend to see it beside the cheese that comes in little wedges (8 to a wheel..I forget the name now..grrr).

Check the labels for nutrition info because some are higher in calories than others. I tend to measure mine out then use it as dipping sauce.
