Default The Weekly Post Anything Thread- April 24

Hi All - thought I'd start this for the week. I weigh in tonight and I'm hoping for a loss. I turtled last week. I walked for 6 miles yesterday, and just did 50 minutes on the eliptical. I have lots of energy these days, but also have indulged a bit over the weekend. (mostly a couple of glasses of wine Friday and Saturday). Looking forward to hearing from you all. Have a great week!!

Lyn, how was weigh-in?

I weighed in tonight and lost 5.5 pounds! Yay ... love seeing that ticker move! It was a milestone for me to get to the point where I have less than 100 pounds to lose.

Our meeting's activity this week was clean-up! We tossed all the forms and documents that were out-of-date or unnecessary, and organized all of the pertinent materials.

Man, is my weight up after this weekend! On Thursday, we drove down to Va Beach for my sister's wedding (on Saturday). We stopped at Subway for dinner Thursday during the drive, so that wasn't too bad. Then we got to the cottages (my sis and her now husband rented 2 ocean-front cottages for their families instead of putting us in hotels--they were huge and GORGEOUS!), and my family (mother, father, 2 aunts, uncle, and sister) had gone shopping and bought food for the cottages: full-fat cheese, cookies, ice cream... Then on Friday, hubby-to-be planned a breakfast out at a restaurant for all the ladies in the house. This was followed by manicures and pedicures at a spa (and they were kind enough to offer us cheese, cookies, and many types of assorted chocolate candies). After the rehearsal, we went to Captain George's for dinner, a HUGE seafood buffet with LOTS of FRIED seafood. I did get some broccoli in an attempt to be good, but then I had 3 different desserts, so so much for that attempt Dinner at the wedding included breaded chicken cordon bleu or seafood-stuffed flounder (with cheese and in some sort of buttery sauce, of course). It was a fabulous wedding, but a disasterous weekend of eating for me! I guess I managed to dance off a few of the calories at the reception, though, because I wasn't up as much as I had expected to be (but definitely still up).

I don't think I will be able to go to my meeting this week (Thursday night) because bright and early Monday morning, my boss called the 4 of us writers into her office to announce that it was going to be **** week--MAJOR proposals due with lots of work needed on them. I worked 10 hours yesterday and already came in an hour early this morning, plus since one of the proposals is due on Monday, she said we can expect to have to work this weekend. I did put my foot down and say that I can't work Friday (which I talked about with her last week) or Saturday since it is my SRD here in VA, but I will likely still have to come in and put a few hours in on Sunday. When is a girl supposed to exercise (or cook or unpack or clean the apartment or breathe... )?!

Unhappy Weigh in was a disappointment

I gained a pound. And I was so positive I lost. Oh well. it's happended before and I won't let it get me down. It will probably show up next week, right? Me and antother TOPs member were both surprised by an unexpected gain, so we made a pact together to keep on truckin' and not to get discouraged.

Jill, you sure had a wonderful weekend with all that pampering and good food. Just get back on track this week. Hopefully work will not be too stressful.

I just got back from my Yoga class and am all de-stressed. Talk to you all later.

Jilly! What a great weekend ... that spa sounds awesome! I'd have to eat salad and grapefruit for 5 weeks to overcome that weekend! LOL.

I have a NSV! I picked up my 15-y-o son from his friend's house the other day, and he said, "Wow, Mom, that shirt you're wearing really shows off your weight loss. When I saw you walk up to the door I thought, 'who is this woman picking me up?'"

Wow, I attended my first SRD today (well, the first day of it, anyway)--how inspiring! We had a motivational presentation from the 2004 TOPS International King...he was AWESOME! What a great guy: amazing speaker, excellent motivator, and seemed so down-to-earth. He made some excellent points that really hit home for me and have caused me to make a decision: I'm getting rid of my home scale. I have gotten into the habit of weighing myself every day. The daily fluctuations up and down don't bother me since I understand they happen, but what I do see happening is that I base my eating for the day somewhat around what the scale says in the morning. If it's down a bit, then I know I don't have to be as strict that day, and if it's up a bit, then I know I have to buckle down a bit more. Well, the light bulb moment for me today was that I should be eating healthfully ALL the time regardless of what the scale says (duh). I don't WANT to have to weigh myself every day for the rest of my life, and if I continue in my current pattern, that is what will happen because that is what I will have to do in order to maintain.

I also get down on myself sometimes if I've gained, and it makes me less likely to attend the meeting that week. If I don't know for sure before the meeting how I've done, then I'm hoping I will be more likely to go to meetings more often. After all, we don't go to the meetings just to share our successes--we go to get support on our off weeks and to support OTHERS, not just ourselves!

I know most of this is all common sense, and somewhere inside I k new it already, but his presentation really hit home for me somehow and finally made it all *click*

Yay, Jill! I'm glad to hear it. That is a good point about using the scale in that way.
