Update on Penny
Hi all,
I tried this yesterday and my computer froze so sorry I didn't get here before now. I have good news on her.
Penny called me yesterday breifly and she called me again today. They have no phone service at their house. There is only one family on their street with phone service so she is using their phone. They didn't end up leaving because when they went to leave they were told it would be more dangerous to leave then if they stayed. Their house only has minor damage shingles and facing. Which is a blessing. They are all ok and safe. She had to go to Baton Rouge yesterday for some food she did stock up on food ahead of time thank god. She was out of bread and luncheon meat. Baton Rouge is 45 min away. She got bread but they were out of everything else. They were told they won't have power for 4-6 weeks. But they should have phone service within a week they said. Her town is not flooded but the next town over is. They can't get any mail or any deliveries at all at this point. I asked if they needed anything I would send it money or whatever. I told her to call me if they did need anything. She did call her SIL yesterday and she has a friend that is only 1 1/2 hrs from Penny. The SIL said that if they needed anything she would ask the friend if she shipped it there (they are in Montana) if the friend would drive it to her. So we will see. She said they don't need anything right now they are just eating what they have in the house. They just got the police and fire station up and running yesterday in her town. I am so thankful she called I was so worried and said prayers for her. They are very lucky.
I was watching dateline last night regarding the aftermath and I have never seen anything so devastating as this. It is unbelievable. I told her if she got the address of the family that is 1 1/2 hours away from the SIL and they are willing to drive to her that I would send her what she needs if the time arises. I will keep you all updated as I talk to her. Sounds like they will need food at some point. She said they were giving out rashens of food yesterday in her town. It is a terrible thing. I wouldn't mind putting groceries in a box and sending it next day air if that family could get it to her.
Thanks for all the prayers and she thanks you to.
