Default I need help!

I have just started on SB today and am so excited to begin! I do have a few questions though if anyone could help me out:
- Is there a specific number of carbohydrates that you can eat daily? For example, some sugar-free candy has 30 carbohydrates per serving. Is this acceptable?
- Also, please share your favorite meals, snacks, etc. I need all the advice I can get!
Thank you!
Meagan

UF girl, WELCOME to the forum! You will find lots of helpful information in the support threads and the info boards (links are in the first post of the current weekly thread) that Debbie has put together. The high traffic on this board might seem a bit overwhelming, but these ladies are wonderful at answering all your questions (except for me, running short on time ) But still wanted to welcome you. Hope you stick around!

WELCOME TO THE SB BOARDS!

I hope you will join us on our regular WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARD

On SB they recommend approx. 40% of your calories should come from carbs. Since I don't know how much you weigh, or what your goal weight is, it's hard to give you numbers, but I would be happy to help if you want to e-mail me with your stats.

So, another Floridian on the board! There's quite a few of us on here-I usually get up to Gainsville in the summer when my kids are at camp, but won't be this year, they aren't going I like WARDS up there-great prices and nice selection!

As for the candy-I do suggest you not partaking in ANY sweets of ANY kind at the beginning. You want to get rid of all the desires for these treats so you won't have cravings for sweets.

Many of us post menus from time to time-I know I posted mine on the regular weekly board, so you may want to go through the board of this week

GOOD LUCK!

Debbie

Hi, thank you for your replies. Debelli, how would I figure out what my carbs should be if I weigh 168 and am trying to get down to 150? Thank you! Where are you from in Florida? I am a senior at UF but am from Jacksonville. Thanks again for your help!

Meagan, at your current weight you take in appox 2025 calories, for a person of 150, you'd take in approx 1800 to maintain that weight-not too much difference in calories. I would suggest you shooting for 1600 calories to start. Of that, 30% or a little less fat, 40% or a bit more carbs and 30% protein-our TIPS & TOOLS BOARD has more info and explanation on how to figure it out

Intake depends on how active you are and your body structure, so the above is just a suggestion.

I'm way south, down in Miami
